I always struggle to remember everything one needs to know about a route to run it without the HUD, so I made myself a sheet similar in spirit to the SBB-style "Streckentabellen": gives you the mileage of points of interests, crossovers/loops/junctions, neutral sections (OHNS), along with speed boards and stations. I thought I might as well share it! I'm planning on doing the Up direction at some point too, though no promises!
Thank you Amy, I have it printed out!! I need it as I was caught out as I don't have proper road knowledge....
amyinorbit I'm currently making a ecml guide for tsw4 just now. Do you mind if I credit your name and put a couple of screenshots in the guide? Trying to make it very comprehensive and detailed and I'm in touch with a driver to try and teach players about some of the real life procedures.
Oh, looking forward to that. I’m not overly familiar with all of the rules and procedures on UK rails.
Here are the updated sheets, both for up and down direction now. Fixes a couple mislabelled places, a missing neutral section or two, as well as bad distances on a couple of landmarks. Also, if that can help anyone, the breaking points I've been using so far are: Down (Peterborough - Doncaster): 115 restriction at Stoke Tunnel: start coasting at the end of the 4-line running section, you should be just about 115mph by the tunnel Grantham: do not stop coasting after stoke tunnel, the gradient will keep your speed anyway. Min brakes at the 3rd signal after the tunnel Newark North Gate: After Claypole down loop, coast the the first overpass, apply min brakes when passing the football pitch in the village. 115 restriction at Askham tunnel: start coasting at the crossovers after Carlton Loops. Retford: min brakes 2 signals after Askham tunnel. You will get checked down by approach release also. 110 restriction between Retford and Doncaster: apply min brakes at the third signal after Ranskill Loops Doncaster: apply min brakes at Loversall Carr Junction. You will get checked down by approach release anyway, but braking there gets you a smoother ride. Up (Doncaster - Peterborough) 110 restriction between Doncaster and Retford: apply light brakes when passing Rossington Crossovers (called "Rossington GSP" in the sectional appendix, not sure what GSP stands for) Retford: apply min brakes at the second signal after the end of the Ranskill loops Newark North Gate: Coast from North Muskham OHNS (neutral section), apply min brakes at the signal box on the left hand side coming out of a left turn. 115 restriction between Newark and Grantham: coast after the end of Claypole Up Loop. Grantham: apply min brakes at the end of Peascliff Tunnel Peterborough: apply min brakes at Werrington Junction (it's a "fly under junction", you'll see a tunnel coming under your track from left to right)
TSW Nathan Feel free to just re-upload the PDF files wherever you end up making your guides Just credit me as Amy Parent or amyinorbit
Planning on publishing the first version to the public today. I will continue to work on it though once published until it is complete.
Thank you amyinorbit - this is very useful. A GSP is a Ground Switch Panel - basically a ground frame, but for motorised points.
It's now available in the TSW Discussion Section for those that want a read. Here's a link to the post: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/tsw4-ecml-handbook.74007/
