Found a pretty glaring issue that needs fixing ASAP. It appears that services formed of two five car units haven't been set up correctly. I was accelerating such a service out of Doncaster and noticed it was a lot more sluggish than usual- I soon noticed why. The pantograph on the rear unit was lowered and I was merely towing it dead. Come on DTG. You make it really hard to enjoy your products when you leave such silly mistakes in the game which could easily be fixed if you didn't rush things or have a competent quality assurance process. I really like this route, it has the potential to be the best in the game, but you can't keep leaving such silly bugs in the game.
The way the Temporary Speed Restrictions have been implemented in this scenario are wrong. Without going fully into how they are wrong and how they should be implemented IRL, I've filed a bug report about it with details for them to sort it out.
I know they can't be correct but I would appreciate it knowing how they are wrong? I know drivers must be told in advance where speed restrictions are placed before they go on their assigned route. Cheers.
Take a look at the bottom of this page: https://www.railsigns.uk/sect14page2.html For a TSR, you would expect a temporary AWS magnet, followed by the warning board. Then, after a distance needed for braking (which will be greater when the line speed is greater), the commencement board. The link calls this sign a speed indicator. Where the TSR ends the termination board will be placed. An Emergency Speed Restriction is the same, but will additionally have an emergency indicator (known as a dalek) and a temporary AWS magnet placed before it. A diagram is here: https://www.railforums.co.uk/thread...ictions-esrs-implemented.212955/#post-4939129 One important element is that a reminder (repeater) board is only used where necessary, so at the end of a platform at a station where a driver may stop and have station duties to complete, or even handover to another driver. Reminder boards are not used in the context shown in the Hot Seat scenario.
i believe the four level crossings north of Retford (Botany Bay, Sutton cum Lound, Torworth and Ranskill) are still operated by Ranskill signal box.. they definitely were a few years ago and i believe they still are to this day!
I have found an invisible wall, You need to be standing for it to take effect, if you are sitting, you can pass right through. I was walking through a carriage, got stuck on the wall and ended up glitching through the train Is there anywhere I can send a screenshot so I can show you where on the map it happens?
Hi, If you go to: https://dovetailgames.freshdesk.com/support/home you can submit a ticket. By choosing the Report a Bug version you can let them know about it. You can also attach images there.
Things I’ve seen or experienced driving the ECML a couple of times in the Azuma; Class 801 Right hand MFD doesn’t work properly. Incorrect head code, next station stop - always seems to be one away from what it should be, often incorrect destination, DSD is going off with reverser in neutral Sound mixing is all the place (AWS too quiet, DSD too loud, internal horn surely too loud, windscreen wiper too loud, run sounds too quiet, no track joint / points sounds) - FIXED DRA button, AWS sunflower glass, brake gauge glass and Brake Release button on the TPWS are being affected by sunlight independently of the rest of the cab. It looks terrible frankly Can’t close the cab door from the outside On the external PiS’ London Kings Cross overlaps coach letter Numerous things don’t work on save game resumption inc screens, PiS, GSM-R, train info in the menu and even the weather GSM-R head code and MFD head code don’t match No train fault alarm when emergency brake is used. No train fault alarm test at key-in. No ‘Driver, you have reset the DRA…’ announcement which I believe there should be Cab light intensity is far far too bright (long-standing TSW/UE4 issue) Pushing the door close button using either the Y or U key has the button keep operating repeatedly until the door is closed. This is an old bug affecting many locos/units in the game the DTG have fixed repeatedly. How is new content still being released with this bug?! Should the 801 not have a speed limiter? GSM-R screen still randomly goes blank Door release lights don’t light up (which I believe they should) Guard panel doesn’t seem to work. Once a carriage door is open it is almost impossible to close it again without doing so from the cab Route Signals stepping up from double yellow to green just before you pass them when the route ahead is clear Completely innocuous sections where GPU usage goes through the roof and fps suffers. One such section is approx 3.5miles before Grantham heading South Scenarios still not going through correct train setup, missing lights yet again Class 66’s scattered throughout the route often have both their headlights and taillights on at the drivers end The stopping point on the hud/marker is nowhere near the ‘80X ALL’ stop markers which are at the end of the platform Neutral sections don’t appear to do anything
Thank you. I did wonder about temporary AWS magnets. Maybe they are not particularly easy to implement on a scenario by scenario basis.
I also wondered about the fact some double yellows step up to green as you approach. I thought it might be some new implementation. But maybe it is not correct. I don't know enough about signalling systems to know.
On PC - I don't know about other platforms - the service descriptions describe every 801 service as an LNER service while the PIS lists the actual operator (e.g. Hull Trains) of the non-LNER services.
Glad I could help. Perhaps it isn't easy to put temporary AWS magnets in. But at the very least, I would expect the signage to be correct.
Not sure where to post this as it applies to all content and is an issue with the core game - on Xbox when a keyboard is plugged in, all controls work as expected apart from the ‘ key to apply brakes. [ & ] to apply and release brakes works. ; to release brakes works
DTG Alex I have a quick question regarding the recent update notes and layers on ECML. When you're doing the Journey mode which timetable is used? Do we get a choice between them or is one pre selected? As I know you said that progress is transferrable between them just wondering how it works with Journey chapters
Wait so am i right in thinking that 8th gen will have NO Class 158 or Class 700 services at all, playable or AI? that's really dissapointing if true!
That’s what the patch notes confirm, I do find it odd that the HST is in rather than the 158 or 700, either of those would add more gameplay.
i would happily give up ALL possible layers just to have the Class 158 added, i was really looking forward to having that as driveable and ai between Grantham and Peterborough.. i do love the ECML route and have really enjoyed it so far, but not being able to use the Class 158 is a huge, huge disappointment.
Yeah I agree that’s not a good choice, there’s a lot of other locos in the layers which seem less important than the 158, that’s one of the only other trains that is a realistic daily sight on this route.
DTG Alex DTG JD DTG Matt Sorry for the tags guys but I'm just trying the update for PC (Steam) the audio is much better now for the Azuma however the DSD audio still needs to be increased. Please can this be fixed this for tomorrows release, it's starting to get annoying having the brakes applied because I'm missing the DSD alert which is basically silent in the cab, but weirdly it can only just be heard from an external camera.
totally agree! looking at this list: Xbox One, Xbox Series S and PlayStation 4 will get: HST (MML, playable and AI) Flying Scotsman (playable and AI) Class 66 (playable and AI) GWE (playable and AI) NTP (AI) SoS (AI) Glossop Line (AI) RHTT (AI) SEHS (AI) TVL (AI) WSR (AI) literally the only two layers i would want are Class 66, and Class 158.. i don't own any other layers and i wouldn't want them for my own gameplay if it means missing out on Class 158... and Class 66 is included in the base game so the only layer i want is Class 158.. all other 11 layers I have no interest in myself, so this feels like a massive letdown!
One comfort you do have though, is that free roam will hopefully be stable enough to allow you to do the run from PBO to Grantham.
Playing mostly on my series S these days rather than my PC I am disappointed not to have the 158 layers as out of all the trains in the game they are the most appropriate for this section of line. Getting rid of all the AI only stuff and just having the 158 as a layer from existing content would be much preferable.
I'm also on ps5 and don't have an update. Why is it always that somehow it never works with dovetail and playstation. I'm still not sure we get all the dlc tomorrow. Just look at how that went last year.
True, that was hectic but DTG still haven't given an answer on why PS5 hasn't received a ECML update.
I heard about a function to assigne your own keys for better use of the keyboard? Did I get it wrong?
No. But the announcement on the forums did say the upadte is scheduled for tomorrow so I guess that’s when we get it.
The 801 sounds are much better. Ideally it would have been like this from the get-go but either way a vast improvement. Now, can you please stop the DSD going off in neutral?
Well not really this was in the announcement: These improvements should now be live on all platforms, except PS4, which will follow in the next 24 hours.
Just had a read through the ECML Timetable update. I assume the layer from Glossop will bring in Northern 323s as a stand-in for Northern EMUs at Doncaster? Disappointed that the Xbox Series S will not recieve the class 158 layer, both Player or AI as I feel it is one of the more important layers to be included. Personally I'd rather have the 158 swap places with the WSR layer or something similar with only very few services.
Following on from my previous comment, I am aware there are / will be performance issues and not everything can be included on all platforms. This being said, in my opinion the core layers for ECML should be: - Class 66 / RHTT - Class 158 - Flying Scotsman - Class 700 With then additional layers for railtours etc being added in where possible.
Having received the update on PC (Steam) today, to confirm the volume levels for the AWS are significantly improved and now very playable, thanks for the quick action.
don’t get me wrong, It’s a nice idea to include the HST and the WSR 47, but seriously? From what I can see on the preview stream, there is only one service for the WSR 47 and only 3 for the HST. Surely these should be swapped for better options?
It presumably depends on how much memory each unit takes up. One will not be equivalent to another in terms of memory usage - I would hazard a guess that the newer locos are more memory-intensive, particularly the 700.
