Just wondering if anyone know if, where and when this will be released? Seems to have gone quiet since the previews on Twitch / YT a while back. Really looking forward to this - it looks fantastic and tons of scenario potential.
The release of the upgrade will likely be a bit further away than we had anticipated when it was shown off on stream. However Paul and I are working hard to make further improvements so hopefully it'll be worth the wait. P.s. Thank you for your enthusiasm for it. It keeps us motivated.
Nothing has yet been confirmed regarding release I'm afraid. As soon as we have something we can share with you I'll post it on here.
Yes, I am looking forward to this too very much, thanks guy's for doing this. There are lots of routes that could with HD'ing! ECML Edinburgh Aberdeen is one prime example!
Sorry for the thread bump but I had promised I'd post here once we had news we could share. In case anyone missed the latest AP newsletter, we are excited to say our route upgrade will be published by Armstrong Powerhouse. Happy to ping over a copy of the newsletter if anyone wants to see what was said/shown in it.
That's really cool, yes please as I don't seem to have received the copy of the newsletter, thank you
I tried logging into my AP account to see if a download option is available for the newsletter, but I only see a subscribe option. Is it not possible to view it without subscribing?
I stopped getting the newsletter recently. It was necessary to resubscribe. For the missing ones, I just emailed AP and asked for them. He sent them within a couple of days.
It seems a few of us got mysteriously switched from Yes to No on the Subscribe page, the last newsletter I received was in September last year, I'd been subscribed since 2020, I guess AP changed something on the site and it unsubscribed us. I've now re-subscribed but unfortunately that wont gain me the current newsletter, oh well.
I have uploaded the email for you I am sure a lot missed it and saves people hassling Richard I have had to compress the file so the images are not the greatest.
They had a Website issue with how many people it was trying to send it out to. So they had to upgrade the system which unfortunatley meant you had to resub. They posted about this on FB when it happened.
They have a preference to not have indefinite copies of newsletters available online. If you think about it, this also gets around the Internet Archive making permanent copies of a monthly newsletter page even if he cycled them. So he has indeed done everything to keep from having indefinite copies. And besides, I understand the reason for not wanting to keep information from 2023 on the site in 2029.
I wonder whether AP are involved with the ATS GEML upgrade and their Wherry Lines extension to Sheringham. Whatever happens it's a superb idea and I hope we see more route Enhancement Packs in the future. It keeps the old game relevant which means we get even more value out of the thousands of pounds some of us have invested TSC content.
Just wondering if there is any update on the MML route upgrade from AP? Been nearly two months since the last update.
Yeah, I saw that in there too. They moved St. Pancras back to its original position, I remember reading. I will probably wait for a sale, but this is definitely in my considerations. The only problem I have is that they are probably stuffing the clouds pack, vegetation pack, and all that in there, then still asking for a full route price. For a full route price, those types of things should be included. I will wait and see, however.
I have bought EVERYTHING from AP including every individual scenarios. TSC is my hobby and I guess I'm a bit of a collector!
I never liked the idea of buying individual scenarios. I prefer packs, and keep DLC to a minimum while keeping it realistic. Seeing 12 products needed is a put-off from bothering with scenarios or packs, but if an author makes the effort to limit the necessary content, then it actually encourages people to check out one or two missing items. My take.
Oh god, please don't set up shop here with your needlessly antagonistic/negative posts. It was bad enough on UKTS which pretty much drove anyone interesting away from the forum. Do you consider the latest JT MML extensions to not be JT products as they weren't made by a JT employee? Nonsense semantics. Anyway, AP have already made clear that they have been involved in working on the route for the past 2 or 3 months after taking it on from the original builders anyway. Just pipe down will you before you ruin this forum too.
I shall be getting this Day 1. My reasons being that 1) I’ve been looking forward to it since I first heard about it. 2) I have a lot of AP products and personally find them to be of high quality. Any bugs I’ve reported have been fixed in day’s rather than months. 3) I’ll have to buy it to find out how good it is. Pretty much the only review channel I trust is Train Sim TV and even then I don’t always agree. The cost, unless it’s well out of line with other releases, doesn’t matter too much for me. TSC is by far the cheapest of my hobbies. So assuming I can afford it when it launches, then I’m getting it.
Whether AP have done the work or not it is being sold under AP who are providing the QA for the final product. AP will own the intellectual property. Nothing more need be stated. Respectfully
From what I can gather, the project started as an entirely independent endeavour and AP have come on board for the latter stages and will act as the distributor . I think ownership of the IP will be retained by Dovetail as the developer of the original add-on.
DTG have no ownership on the enhancement. Only on the main required route. You are correct that AP would be the publisher.
Correct. They still own the original route. They do not own the enhanced work. The original route remains their intellectual property. The enhancement is not. Otherwise it would be illegal for AP to sell it. Which they plan to do. Maybe I am phrasing incorrectly…
Hi Martin!! <waving furiously>,,, wee tip for you, when posting cutting asides they're much more effective if you proof read them before posting--your chum is 37418, not 3748
You know, I saw that too. Strangely enough, I have a politeness factor to not point out every typo in a post where I can fully understand the message. It sounds like you have a history of otherwise at UKTS.
This is where we get deeper into the rabbit hole...any assets from 3rd parties (JT OHLE has reportedly been used) still remain the property of that 3td party.
And it's the context/intent of the message I'm addressing, not the typo. I'm well known for being sceptical, which some have taken as a dislike for whoever/whatever has been the subject of discussion. In this thread, "Regardless of how it actually looks or performs?...and that's before we even consider cost." and "Yeah...but AP haven't done the work, have they?" have been taken as an attack on AP. It doesn't matter who produces whatever, it has has to merit purchasing for what it is, not for who made/published it. Of course a provider with a track record of shoving out good stuff helps sell a product, but does it really make that product something you simply must have, something you're going to buy no matter what?
The 'Enhancement' package will be the IP of AP. I am sure they have agreement from DTG to use the original route. How much of the original route was reused is unknown. Being an AP offering and validated by AP I will certainly acquire this out of the gate. What others do is their prerogative. If one wishes to be hesitant or 'skeptical' that is your choice. Respectfully
