Well, TSW4 just released two days ago and by now we've all gotten a chance to try it out. I for one really only bought it for the Antelope Valley Line. I'm very impressed with it and absolutely love running it. That said, the included timetable is about to be obsolete and out of date already. As I've said on here before, Metrolink has been wanting to add back more trains to the timetable and it looks like that is already happening. Beginning October 23rd, 2023, the new Metrolink schedule will take affect and the Antelope Valley Line will now see nearly one train every hour in each direction. As well as new trains on the weekend schedule. While no new schedule is public yet, it is indeed coming. With this, that means our timetable in TSW4 for the route will already be missing trains in just a matter of weeks. I would love to see the new trains added in a future patch after we see the new schedule and what trains are added. And no, my expectations aren't too high of expecting this to happen right away.... I'm just bringing this information in hopes that maybe something down the road could happen. Granted it took forever and then some to update the NYT timetable. So I'd imagine IF a timetable patch was made available to reflect the new trains starting on Oct. 23rd, it would probably be far down the priority list and I doubt it's something we'd see for months. Of course, we can always add new trains ourselves as well with the editor.

Anyways, new Metrolink trains coming to Antelope Valley starting Oct 23rd. For those who said the route is boring due to a lack of other traffic and such, this should help out immensely. There will also be way more options of services to run!

Second this! Don't rush it and take your time with the timetable, and before you know it we might get it as a surprise update

The irony of the route being the most modern in TSW, now already has an obsolete timetable. Guess it's perfect timing to update the timetable at this point once the new schedule is out (to whoever did the timetable for Antelope Valley).

Yeah I didn’t know who to tag for timetable stuff. Not sure who works on it. Hopefully Matt or JD will take notice and pass it along to the proper people. With the amount of effort put into this route, I hope it gets the attention and updates/patches it deserves.

This is a good flag. As our routes are set a specific point in time, I'm not sure quite the general process for this, but it's something we'll weigh up against other timetable work the team are looking at. To manage expectations - this isn't currently in our scope of work for the year, so I doubt there will be much wiggle-room in the near-to-mid-future.

Considering the route is supposed to set in the time whem the new station opens in the near future, I assume the best way to do this would be to wait for it to actually open, then modify the timetable accordingly.

Usually my stance would be “it’s a snapshot for when route is set”. BUT, DTG decided to make this route *slightly* in the future, and I think with Vista Canyon open & the new TT, DTG needs to adjust it to meet the reality.

Also, the current TT is very bare. For all the work that went into the route & train, I think both it & we absolutely deserve a new one.

Thanks for the reply but as you said, the route is set at a specific point in time. I'm almost positive the new Vista Canyon station will be open for the October 23rd schedule change. Therefor, you should really consider adding the new timetable to actually reflect what is being done in real world. Not to mention, it will add a bunch more additional services as trains will start running nearly ever hour. Please don't let this just go into the distance like the NYT timetable, especially after all the hard work you put into this whole route. I guarantee in another year plus, there could be another timetable change. Metrolink puts out new schedules twice a year commonly. Most of the time they don't differ much but this one on October 23rd will differ greatly from what you guys have offered us on the route currently.

I would support a new Metrolink timetable as long as the wierd freight services get fixed too, as well as slots left open for potential future Amtrak services.

Yeah, the route is set in the future with the new station over. So surely the snapshot of time is also set in the future for the timetable?

Yes, with JD's logic, the route is set in the future with the Vista Canyon station. That's likely opening for the October 23rd schedule change. So therefore an appropriate, actual timetable reflecting the new times for Vista Canyon should be implemented, not to mention all the new trains and time changes the schedule is likely to see.

Ha, this was before my morning caffeine injection - the logic you've mentioned in response is sensible, of course. We weren't aware of changes to the timetable, and timetables are probably the single most complex thing for the team to work on. I will repeat though, that it is not something we've scoped as work for this year, so unlikely to happen any time soon. There are no current plans.

And yes, the team are working on timetables for future releases (Roadmap) - as well as SKA, so no 'ta-da!' surprises for us to bring out of the hat there ;)

Would be really good if you could look into it in the future. Sounds like it would result in a lot more traffic on the route, which would improve an already great route. Not as critical as NYT was of course, as you do have the current timetable implemented.

Let's see what the community creates with the PC Editor. Routes will probably take a long time, but I'm sure we'll see a lot of timetables created.

I have a feeling this is the direction it's gonna go instead of waiting for DTG to come out with one. I mean, yes I'd like to see DTG do the full updated timetable but it will probably be quicker for us to do some of it ourselves. I for one want to add in the weekend trains timetable. Or at least some of those.
