I have attempted to get in contact with people from Dovetail via email about this with no response so I'm posting it here to maybe get in touch with someone. As the title says I'm making a P42DC and I'm very interested in getting it published via the partner program. While the art assets aren't done yet, I've placed my current work into the game to start working on simugraph. I've been hard at work and have gotten the engine, air brake, and basic MU functionality done with the next steps being to add dynamic braking and more advanced (and correct) Electronic Air Brakes. I recorded a demo video showing off the P42DC running which I'll put at the bottom of this thread. If anyone at DTG can get in contact to assist with anything and everything relating to getting this published as an official DLC that would be greatly appreciated! I'm currently targeting this to be launched as a pack consisting of the P42DC, a Viewliner baggage car, and Superliner bi-level cars making it ideal for long-distance services currently offered by Amtrak. I'd like to bring this as a timetable layer for Cajon Pass as it seems to be the most fitting route but I also have a few ideas on scenarios for other routes. Once again if anyone from DTG could reach out that would be wonderful! Here is a current demo video:
Dtg said in the past they would prefer having more than 1 person to be a 3rd party dev. It would be too much work for one person. If you can handle it, that's great, but if you plan to release regular and bigger content, you might want more people in your team
I am aware. I'm currently not planning any other content than what I described before. I do not see this as a tall order and I've already made major progress into this. I don't understand why it would be a requirement to have multiple people working as a team in order to bring a locomotive to the game if one person can do the work. As I said above I'm looking to bring a P42DC to the game with a few bits of rolling stock. From what I can tell, there are no rules on applying for the program that I can find, and unless it states somewhere that you must have 2 or more people I don't see the harm in reaching out.
There's always the specter of licensing. If DTG has this licensed for themselves already, would that preclude someone else from working on it, unless maybe contracted for the job by DTG themselves?
It was always like that, slow slow in getting in contact , on the other side, when they need you they are lightning fast. Atleast I hope that regular players not spam the emails with questions. so I wish you good luck with waiting. Fair to say that I think they give a little too much info about the one on one lessons which result maybe in allot of email traffic . Probably they have allot to filter
I've reached out directly to you space#1043 but for future reference, the dedicated email address to contact with reference to TSW Partner Product Development and in particular publishing commercial add-ons for TSW is tswpartners@dovetailgames.com Best, Steve
Not having an amtrak diesel to populate the freight only routes we have is one of my biggest complaints in terms of US routes. I wish you good progress, I am ready to throw some money at you
