Excellent. You can validate what I’m seeing on my machine then with a 3090.

I’ll send the details across when it’s ready. They’re tweaks rather than something entirely new but I’m happier with the overall look.

I have tried the Jetwash High v. 2.1 Ini. I cannot discern what beauty I may have lost by the downgrade but I get marginally better frame rates which may be better for the RTX270.

That’s good to hear, there shouldn’t be too much difference as it stands. Marginally reduced draw distance but not much else. I would have said Ultra would be pushing a 2070, it gives my 3090 a solid workout in 4K, and that’s using NiS.

I’m working on tweaking the settings and making the levels more distinct. The aim is that Beyond Ultra will be for the top end 40series cards, Ultra for lower 40series and upper 30series, High for lower 30series and upper 20series and so on. At least if that’s a base to work from then people can choose which suits their own personal preference between performance and graphical fidelity.

TSW4 does seem to have altered the way a few things work, so I’ve increased the sunlight and starlight intensity a bit, slightly raised the level and spread of volumetric fog, added 8K resolution shadows to the Ultra version (which doesn’t seem to impact performance, only VRAM usage), added a command for the foliage dithered LOD, added a TAA tweak to all but eliminate the flickering and shimmering TSW/UE4 is famed for and am currently trying a few things to improve ambient occlusion. Regarding the screens that is a tricky one, because for some reason the PIS appears to now be linked to the same ToD shader, so finding a balance between unreadably bright screens but too dim PIS is difficult. I think that will just have to be a compromise setting in the end.

I'm using low 2.1 on rtx 2070 super Ryzen 5 3600 and 32gig. I tried high 2.1 but game play was stuttering and not smooth. Low is good for a rtx 2070 super

good afternoon this may be a silly question, but i bought TSW4 on the xbox game store for PC - my TSW4 save's folder is still in my documents, and has the same set up as my old TSW3 folders from steam - the difference is "windowsnoeditor" is now replaced with"winGDK" - i am assuming that changing the engine.ini file in this folder will have the same effect, but wanted to check - thank you in advance

Thanks for the work you've put into these compilation of settings! And especially providing different performance tiers!
It's been very useful for me as I've had to temporarily swap out my 5700XT for a 1070 due to some instability issues on my hardware.
I completely agree, that these settings make the game look really good in many situations.

But there is one piece of feedback I have though, and I've seen a few people mention it is how the environment can still be too dark in some situations even when I set the skylight intensity to 1.00 like in these screenshots.
I know by default the game is over exposed, and that eye adaptation, even with tweaks is a little funky with situations of high dynamic range.
But I feel the environment shouldn't be so dark even when the sun is already out?
(Using the low preset in this case)

Edit: quick experimentation with the weather settings, this seems to be at it's worse when the cloud slider is about in the middle, to 3/4 on, either less or more clouds makes the environment globally more lit it seems.

Is that a Time of Day 3 (as in from TSW2) route?

It is nearly impossible to balance engine.ini changes across ToD4 and ToD3. If there’s enough demand for it I could tweak the settings to better suit those older routes and have them as a separate set, but I won’t alter the settings and compromise the ToD4 version because realistically, that’s where the future of the game is.

Yeah, for console users, this thread is such an insight into what Tod4 could look like if DTG cared.
