Gotta be wales, it’s sprinter central.

    Oh how I long for a route with a 175, 158 & 150 all running together.

Wales doesn't have a route yet. Maybe something cross-border like Cardiff to Bristol.

My choice would be for an Anglo-Scottish route like the WCML Carlisle to Glasgow.

Wales but only if it’s narrow gauge and they sorted the steam physics (though I believe the WHR/FR do have a small fleet of diesel locos).

I'd say Wales as there are loads of lines (standard or narrow gauge) that I feel might look great for a TSW route :)

Would love to see a Welsh or borders route. Had a lovely run between Shrewsbury and Ruabon a few weeks ago on a class 150, not sure I would want to travel to Holyhead on it though.

The North Wales coast or the Marches route would be my first choice. Maybe something like the Rhymney Lines set in the 1990's when some of the services were diesel hauled if I recall running along side a sprinter or pacer. The Cambrian would be nice especially with TSW4's graphics but I would prefer that set from the 1950's to mid 1980's.

+1 for Wales: Cambrian Coast Shrewsbury-Aberystwyth-Pwllheli is a lovely route, and would look great inTSW 4.

Difference is we hate our 150s and want to get rid of them asap.

It's a lottery whenever I head up the Marches route. Could be a 175, 158, 67+ MK4, 150, or even a pair of 153s. The 197s are in the mix now too. On the one hand I like the variety, but on the other I miss the Arriva days when you could reliably count on a 175 to turn up. Taking a crowded 150 from Manchester to Cardiff is one of the worst experiences I've had on Britain's railways.

If the route were in TSW, It would have to be Cardiff/ Newport to Hereford. About the right length, and anywhere further North wouldn't be in Wales at all. I'd be more than happy to see the 175 in the game, however I actually think the 67 and MK4 sets would be great too. We don't get many modern loco hauled passenger services in TSW, so it would be unique and would probably attract those who prefer historical routes too as they wouldn't be able to moan about it featuring a modern multiple unit.

Personally I'd love a route with the BR era 3rd rail units, the South West Main Line especially. Wales however also has a lot of potential, so I'm torn on this vote...

That’s the whole appeal though, a lot of TFW’s routes have a wide range of units operating.

IRL I don’t like getting a 150 either, they’re quite dated now & haven’t been looked after aswell as 156’s & 158’s (talking generally now, not just TFW). For me today’s 150’s are as uninviting as the pacers.

Going back to TSW, the 158 needs setting up for TfW operations, the 150 modernising and then the 175 as the main piece. It would be the UK’s DRA on something like the Holyhead - Crewe line.

    Step in with potential DLC’s as the 67+Mk3’s, 197, 221’s & a Colas 56 for RHTT’s then you’ve got a very significant ecosystem potential.

GB wouldn’t encompass any of Ireland that way, Britain only has 3 nations on it, title would have to be U.K. to encompass NI + Britain or U.K. & Ireland to encompass the Republic of Ireland

the thread basically just needs a sub category for NI and the title to add Ireland if you’re after putting all 5 nations in the area in.

    Correct, my bad.

TSC has a great huge freeware route, took more than five years to develop. Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Tralee network.

Call me boring, but I just want a proper London intercity route featuring stations we haven’t got in TSW yet. Charing Cross, Cannon Street, Waterloo, London Bridge etc.
Then if I think about it (a country we haven’t gotten yet). I’d vote for either Wales or Ireland. I like to see new country routes represented.

Ireland isn’t and is different for Train Services/obvious area coverage compared to Northern Ireland making a large distinction

That wide range of units on the Marches is only transitory though. Once all the 197s are in operation it should only be them and the occasional 67 set. The 150s, 175s and most of the 153s will be gone, and the 158s focused on Birmingham- Holyhead/ Aberystwyth services.

Honestly TFW's 150s aren't that bad. TFW have looked after them reasonably well (I definitely think they're better than Northern's ones), it's just that they're no longer adequate for the routes they run on. Every service they run, whether valleys or mainline, suffers from overcrowding.

Fortunately TSW isn’t constrained to one time period.

If we finally get a Welsh route and it’s only traction is a TFW 197, then that’ll be a huge disappointment.

Here’s hoping one of the UK routes from Rivet Games is one of them.

Another modern diesel route would be most preferable, we only have GWE and MML representing this segment so far.

England - something up north such as the Tyne Valley or Harrogate Loop.
Scotland - Edinburgh to Dundee or the Fife Circle with the new Leven rail link.
Wales - North Wales Coastal between Chester, Llandudno and perhaps Holyhead.

If we do get a North Wales route, I'd much prefer it in 70's/80's as that way you have the intermodal freightliner services, slow/fast lines on parts of the route, sheds and sidings at Holyhead, Rhyl, Llandudno Junction & Chester, not forgetting coal services at Talacre and freight at Mostyn Docks. That route in modern day is boring, nowhere near as good as when we used to go there and travel on it as kids.

Will be interesting to see it in TSW(include number here) when Electrification of the line is complete.

Absolutely. I bought the TSC NW Coast route and found the 175 and Voyager utterly boring. Now the NWC route that was done for MSTS, particularly the second version, was set in the 70's and had a magnificent collection of locos and rolling stock supplied.

Ironically most of the locos you would need for the NWC in that era already exist in TSW, just need to add a Class 25 and maybe another DMU type. You would also need a Mark 2 aircon set for the Euston to Holyhead services and some Blue/Grey Mark Ones but easier than building and providing sounds for all new modern one handle DMU's.

There is the Alderney Railway that is part of the Guernsey, that goes from Mannez Quarry to the end of the sea wall. It would give a nice bit of scenery and a part "coastal" route, and should all fit into a minimal number of tiles.... :)
Seriously though... a Welsh Coastal route would be great, BUT, DTG would really need to rework the water assets to properly represent the sea in all states (calm, windy, rain, stormy) because currently these are very poor graphically. Coastal (or larger inland lakes) are currently far too smooth, and poor quality water assets have the potential to be a serious "immersion" breaker :)
I'd like to see some improvement overall on water assets, to take into account the different states depending upon the weather, tides, etc. even World of Tanks has better water effects...

We have 2 routes already but Wales has none to date, hence why I voted Wales over Scotland ;)

I was also trying to vote for both but it only allows for one and yes, Edinburgh to Dundee needs made as soon as possible

And Dundee to Aberdeen as an extension/future route after that! ;)

But having the forth and Tay bridges in the game would be stunning! Specially in a 170! :D

14713edb-0bd0-45e5-b06c-9ae860500fc8.jpeg This poster on Peak Forest doesn't mean anything it isn't a teaser it's just a real life BR poster, but I think it would make a great route, driving an A4 in Scotland. I know most people want modern content but I hope DTG haven't abandoned Steam routes because from what I've heard Peak Forest didn't sell too well. Though if they do make another steam route they absolutely have to fix the steam physics.

Definitely, it's just who will make an accurate 170 (sounds/physics-wise) and make an accurate representation of the Fife Circle Line? :)

I think all the Welsh narrow gauge railways have a spare diesel or two - for maintenance trains out of season, when firing up a steam loco would be too time consuming. The Ffestiniog have one sometimes seen on passenger trains:

There were also two distinct railway lines on Jersey:
    Disused Stations: (disused-stations.org.uk)
Often thought these would be ideal for a train sim recreation.

It's always telling for me that none of you Brits ever suggest UK freight routes.

Is anyone on this thread old enough to remember them?

Yes luckily I remember proper freight trains with proper locos on the front working their socks off. For this reason my only request for the next British route is that it is set in the 80s with a 56 and some MGRs to bring some good old proper freight trains. I have been playing a lot of TVL recently and I feel it is teasing me as you get the locos really going and then you have to stop. It won't happen anytime soon but I can dream.

Presuming I can't have this I think either the north or south Welsh coast routes would be great but again would be a bit naff if done modern, otherwise perhaps East Anglia would be a good shout.

I've frequently suggested something based around Knottingley in the 80's or early 90's - the Yorkshire coal field and power station network. Class 56's and Class 60's thrashing away all hours of the day to Ferrybridge, Eggborough and Drax. The only regular passenger service at that time was the hourly Leeds to Knottingley Class 2, usually a Pacer, with a handful of workings which ran through to Goole.
