I'm trying to make a fictional route with flat terrain. However the editor crashes whenever I try to add tiles to the world composition. I have no interest in bothering with the LIDAR stuff as that's more for real world routes.
Okay so it turns out it's because I need to generate the tiles with a console command that requires kml files. Is there any way to generate the tiles with any data files?
You don't need kml to generate tiles, but its a quick way to generate tiles for a defined route. If HGT is required to generate tiles, flat terrain to sculpt your self, one workaround could possible be to use a HGT file from a flat area, like ocean and set starting location there. M29 or O28 tiles could possible be good for that. Problem is still persisting. I have made sure to select the KML file and DEM file and it's not generating the tiles. Doesn't matter what I do, the same thing keeps happening.
Well I was able to add terrain tiles thanks to this video but I've ran into yet ANOTHER problem. I can't lay tracks. Even when I add in the track tiles, it doesn't work.
Never mind I was able to lay some track and was finally building something that resembled a route, only for it to crash and corrupt the map file and now my progress has been lost.
I've tried my hand again at building a route and now whenever I try to add tiles in the world composition, it just doesn't work. WHYYYYY!!! If they would just add back this feature it'd be a great start! I know this editor is centered around building real world routes, but they really need to add back basic stuff for us to make fictional routes.
