Good evening al, Quick Drive running Smokebox dirty Big Boy with 50 box cars on Tehachapi Pass (as shown in the screen shot) results in the famous eternal loading/splash screens :-( Light engine (no cars) runs fine on this route. Dirty Big Bog with 50 box cars runs fine on all other routes I tested it on (tried about 4). Rebooting system did not help. Changing weather did not help. I am running the latest Public Beta. System specs in my signature. No tweaks / tools / enhancers or whatever. Only official Steam pay-ware DLC downloaded from Steam Store. No DLC from the workshop. Any suggestion what could be wrong ? Can anyone else check this consist on this rout please. Thanks !
Ah, yes, good point. I think you are on to something Spikee. I started removing cars from the consist. After removing 17 cars, and testing after each removed car, the QD Scenario started without issues. First thing I did was checking the back of the train. No visible reason why a few cars more would be a problem.
Interesting. Something else can also be at play - maybe whether the marker is front, center or rear anchored. If that's a thing. I've ran a lot of scenarios with way longer trains than the marker, and usually all that happens is the train spawning somewhat forward. The only issue I've had was a "no path" error which can also mean that the train spawns "as the track is / switches are" and only thereafter does the dispatcher attempt to set up a path. (I was attempting Woodhead with a 801.) Well, and "no power". Sherman Hill has a myriad of intermediate starting points and ... are they all over a mile long? (And Cajon, Donner, CMP, ...) So maybe switches play an important role. Just a hunch. Easy to test, just spawn some (modern, long) freight at London Kings Cross or Paddington. -- On a second thought it's all beyond the point. The game shouldn't just freeze or crash, but report an error and return to the menu.
I checked the back of the train in de efitor. Not sure what I should be looking for, but did not see anything worthwhile I think.
What he means is that you can see the marker on the 2D map, or even on the HUD. I noticed your train is rolling back; when you start, does it precisely fit over the orange marker, or is the rear already outside of it? See how it works with Paddington when the train is longer.
Thanks Andras. Where in your screenshot should I see that marker ? I also checked my 2D map again and have trouble finding that marker, see below screen shots. Please advice.
My knowledge is rather shallow, so let me point you to: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2222378782 It covers a lot of topics nicely. On my shot, the marker is visible on the HUD but it's not the spawn point, I see now.
Thanks. But hey, no way I am gonna read that manual, Because of your reply I thought you knew the answer.
