Just drove the "Go Hard" scenario on Vorarlberg. After changing ends and continuing the service, my score per segment fell from 65 points to 52. As it turned out, I was getting the "wipers not on in rainy weather" penalty... for the cab I just shut down before changing ends. Upon turning the wipers in the other cabin back on, the score returned to 65 again.

Amazing. Very prototypical, having to leave the wipers on in an unoccupied cab.

Side note: when the scenario says "You're evacuating citizens from a flooded Lindau" and then there's 4 people on the train from this allegedly flooded Lindau the first time and 0 the next, that kinda shatters the immersion. Doesn't feel very urgent anymore, you know.

Had a similar vibe playing the "Con Rail" or whatever it was called scenario on AVL. You were supposed to be working a special train transporting a prisoner and Guards, but unless they were in disguise the passengers on the train were neither wearing orange jumpsuits or prison warder uniforms!

What the team should focus on now is having the ability to get platinum medals in other routes. I do agree with the scoring being too easy though. The penalties you receive for over-shooting a station stop, running late or not acknowledging safety system warnings in time, should be increased.

And ensuring earned medals are reflected in our in game profile page. I’m missing Platinum and Gold medals in my overall totals from ECML and Antelope Valley. Kinda puts me off playing the routes. It’s an OCD thing.

That wouldn’t be good if you’re missing medals.
From what I can tell my medals are showing on my profile as I’ve only achieved about 5 platinums so far lol (playing too much scenario planner and spawning trains in service mode).
I hope your profile gets updated soon pal.

Are you sure you only got silver?, the platinum medal looks very similar to the silver one.

Well platinuim is a very dull looking metal, at least in real life, and what I am getting is very shiny like silver is
It is way more rare than gold though

What colour ribbon does it have? If it’s purple, it’s Platinum.

They really need to take a cue from Kirby, that distinguishes silver and platinum metals extremely well.

    Silver

    Platinum

You'll never be confused at which is which with those designs.

Also unlike TSW the platinum's actually take honest to god effort to get, which I find kind of insulting when Kirby's much more explicitly aimed at kids.

I mean whoever thinks that platinum is worth more than gold? Do we have platinum medals at the olympics? No, does anyone say "look, platinum, purest platinum!"? No, they'd have been better of making green ones...(small Blackadder reference there)

BTW Platinium and Paladium are more rare than gold, and are worth way more gold each

I've found the scoring system to be a bit hit and miss. Sometimes I travel 1mph over speed and it penalises me sometimes I've managed to be almost into the red overspeeding and the game doesn't notice so I still get the 65 points. At the end of the run both using wipers in rain and using safety systems always show as N/A despite safety systems always being used on UK/German routes (still need to learn the US ones) and wipers being turned on for rain. TBH they should have left the scoring alone and just added for using safety systems and wipers at the end

Same. I also got over 22,000 AP on the scenario In Threes when Platinum only required 15,000. Incidentally, my mastery award hasn’t unlocked on ECML despite completing everything for Tier 2.

Think the scoring system personally is janky through all iterations of TSW.

It's funny when you earn only a silver or bronze on a TUTORIALwhen following the instructions given literally to the letter.

Hell even some services for any route are the same thresholds for other services that are the same route yet different times of day. I've noticed a couple where even running 3-5 minutes early (whilst abiding to speed limits for maximum "under speed limit AP such as going 29mph where the limit is 30mph) and even waiting the required periods at a station before setting off... Complete the route and boom. Silver medal, or bronze if the game decides to rng you with scoring...

Example?? Theres a few services that I've re-ran and scored bronze thresholds, hell, there's some where I've scored gold thresholds, but the medal or score doesn't update in the menus.

Funny you should say that. If you complete the special challenge at the end of each of the FMS career tiers you get a green medal.
Looks like Baldrick may have descendant working at Turn 10 .

I've got platinum even with three PZB emergency stops. May be after SPAD I would have received not platinum, but gold ))
I think using safety system rewards too much. It is enough to just turn it on - no matter how you will use it, you've got tons of points.

That's the bit that disappoints me most about the new scoring, we get rewarded for switching on the safety systems, but don't get penalised for then completely ignoring them. I would like to see a 1000 point penalty for every use of the emergency brake, both safety system triggered and player actioned.

Honestly, I don't understand the difficulty of implementing a scoring system at all. People were able to implement the simulator as a whole, physics, graphics, weather, etc., but they can't make a scoring system.

    Here's how simple it is:
First, we calculate the maximum number of points.
    1. We count points for traveling a route (the length of the route is known in advance)
    2. Add the points for arriving on time and for stopping at the exact location (all stops are known in advance).
    3. Add points for shunting work, if necessary. But not too much - getting 1000 points for mouse click on coupler is not a good idea.
The total is the maximum number of points per trip that can be scored. The thresholds for medals are calculated from this (e.g. 50%/75%/90% for silver/gold/platinum).

Then we subtract points for speeding, for being late, for stopping inaccurately, for accelerating too fast (uncomfortable ride), for activating emergency brakes, for not using the safety system, etc.

We get the result, write the points, choose a medal.

Exceeding the speed limit should also be counted carefully. When the limit is 40 mph, 40.1 mph should not be counted as overspeed as it be in TSW3. Threshold can be, for example, 10% of limit or 5 kmh/3 mph, whichever is smaller. For limit 20 mph - 22 mph, for 50 mph - 53 mph, for 100 kmh - 105 kmh. More overspeed should reduce MUCH more points.

    That's it!

They should also not be afraid to take points into the minus zone and remove same from your overall life time total.

I actually goofed up and ran past a stop during a timetable service on Voralberg. Got the “objective failed” prompt, had to keep going to the next stop. Wouldn’t you know, I still got a platinum at the end lmao

Same here for the mastery so they're working as usual. I also don't get any CC liveries spawning in at all, at least it tries to spawn them in but all I get is trains in White, green, khaki green, yellow or blue. I get the feeling that CC is why we get the crashes on Xbox

Ive blown a station, like proper Matt knebworth style, got the objective failed notice and kept going then got PZB struck a couple of time and still got platinum on Vorarlberg on 2 or 3 of the senarios.

Also i done 1 of the freight layers on Anthalope Valley Line and the required points for platinum is 11,000. As you only have 1 stop location and the driving points only about 7,000 points are available so platinum is unachievable.
