Now before you all shoot me down in flames, what I am suggesting is for those who wish to build upon existing routes. e.g. SOS by adding extra lines such as the line to Manchester. or whatever. I think it would be cool if DTG could release their routes for sale in an uncooked state to 3rd parties who wish to develop them further. Think of the possibilities this could have for would be route builders.
This is what I was working towards on London Commuter when I got competent with the editor and UE4 engine. I would’ve loved to extend the lines to London Bridge to give the Class 700 some more attention. This is a really nice idea though, I shouldn’t see why DTG wouldn’t approve of this. Bringing more life into legacy content.
I am not sure that this would be really possible since it would be hard for DTG to verify if you own the route(where cooked routes are pulled directly from your .pak data i belive, am however unsure). Also someone could just cook it and share it illegally without verification.
I would imagine that some sort of registration process could be set up whereby interested parties could sign up to be eligible to purchase the uncooked route(s) so the source of any expansion subsequently released would be traceable back to the source.
