A Southern Pacific Merchandise train meets a Santa Fe Stack train near the Monolith Cement Plant on a clear morning, sometime in the mid 1990's. Route: Tehachapi Pass: Mojave - Bakersfield Locomotives: EMD SD45-2, GE B40-8W, GE C40-8W, EMD SD70M, EMD SD40T-2
The eastbound Southwest Chief meets a Westbound Santa Fe piggyback train on a spring morning in the mid 90's, just east of Flagstaff on the Southern Transcon. Route: Arizona Divide: Winslow - Williams Locomotives: GE P40DC, GE Dash 8-32BWH
The Black Butte Subdivision is part of UP's main north-south transcon line on the west coast. Here, train OCAAC, an oil train from the Alberta Oil Fields in Canada to Bakersfield, CA, roars northward behind 4 CP units, a fairly common occurrence for this train. Route: Mount Shasta Line Loco: SS AC4400CW
What is a major mainline? Is it an electrified, at least four track section of a route that is seeing ten to thirty minutes per direction per hour, no cheating with passing sidings (Edinburgh-Glasgow) or station entrance situations (Hagen North), and the shot ideally including an at least three way meet. I know it's like overthinking, but it's not just "main line".
I thought that an important part of a screenshot should be that it is able to be seen. It’s Saturday and 50% plus are not.
At the moment all seems ok for me. I can see rhe images. No worries. Typically if you come back later and try again all will be fine.
Either commenting on the thumbnails, or he got bitten by the bug I often experience - the forum doesn't load the pic and all you can see is the short filename. F5 usually helps, it's likelier to break when you navigate to a # link, meaning a post. I mostly get it in the screenie megathreads.
