I think the scenarios shown are updates from previously uploaded scenarios. Their UKTS file numbers for them date back to around 2020, which must be when they were first uploaded to UKTS.
You are looking at the MSTS Pages but the latest uploads for TSC are under Train Simulator 2013 Peter
Looking at the latest UKTS file list. In September there were 3 updates to activities that had previously been uploaded under TS2013, in October 4 updates to activities that had previously been uploaded to TS2013. The last upload for MSTS was file UKTS 40947 ex-GWR Departmental Vans on 03-Sept 2023. So strictly speaking the last uploaded file was an update to a previously uploaded scenario for TS2013. The last "new " and not an update, is file UKTS 40947 for a MSTS van, if all that makes sense
That's the problem with zombie websites, some parts work, while others don't. At least the forums still work at the moment.
I see that when the domain was last registered (Jul 2023) the owner details (previously showing Matt P) are now all redacted. No idea what (if anything) that portends mind you...
The old url "train-sim.com" has been for sale but hasn't been used in years. Trainsim.com is very much alive and well. And solvent.
We aren't redirecting to a broken site. The last 30 files were uploaded last night, so perhaps by tomorrow or Friday the downloading will be active for Zip files. We need to do a small code change for serving up RAR and other files which aren't in a zip format.
From Wikipedia "TS.com was founded in 2007 by Mike Abrodi and Sïmon Saneback. The webshop was one of Europe's leading online stores for streetwear and hip hop clothes, ..." Not sure what that has to do with this game or UKTS?
Pedantic again, Peter. I was referring to Trainsim dot com who have been in this thread trying to help, but sorry if my abbreviation caused confusion. Previously writing names of sites has caused issues with the forum software blanking things out.
Ah dang, bad abbreviation. https://www.trainsim.com/ Just went to the site. Crampacked with forum messages. Seems they stopped liking Train Simulator after the 2020 release though, not much on TSC ?!? But perhaps I did not discover that sub-forum yet. I wonder if they plan to upload all the files to their system when uktrains will go down.
The files are already donated and listed. Just not downloadable by the general public yet. We will Lifeboat free content from defunct sites under certain condition e.g. it becomes unreachable. We won't Lifeboat payware or donationware, and authors can pull back their content on request. UKTS has now passed that point with email being rejected and the DLS no longer responding. The offer to Lifeboat the forums remains, but that requires cooperation from the UKTS folks.
I hope it works out. But legally it is probanly not ok to transfer the forum. But who cares No one rememberes what they agreed to when they registered
The forums are captured by Archive.org - they're just frozen in time and not easily searchable. What we've done on TS is make the catalog searchable and cross referenced with their dependencies, and also preserved the descriptions. Where we take things a step further.... the zip file contents are viewable without needing to download, and you can search the entire library by what Wag or Eng is in a file or a consist.
Eric that's fantastic work. Just had a quick look on trainsim.com and found the 2 locos for MSTS I made many years ago and uploaded to UKTS. It looks like I am able to edit them as well. Is that correct ? If nothing else you look to have preserved the UKTS download library, many thanks.
If your username over there is the same, then yes. You should be able to edit the description and replace the download file as well as the thumbnail. Starting sometime next week, the file owner will also be able to turn off and on the downloading/listing of their files without contacting an admin first.
I'm not being Pedantic - I'm trying to sort out what you posted. The problem with posting something that only YOU know the abbreviation for is POINTLESS. You must be thinking of some other site because I have not seen any problem with links to proper sites. WoodlandTracks had no problem in posting the correct link - maybe OldVern is just Old.
We love Vern as he is. And pedantic or not, while my username should have erased and doubt.... our site has commonly been referred to as TS just like UKTS, TSC, TSSH and ET have long been used as shorthand for those sites....
The shorthand is ok if you know to what it refers. I have no idea to what TSSH & ET refer to - although the second is an alien.
For a while when MSTS came out I referred to it as “MTS” as technically Microsoft is one word! I’ll get my coat…
Yes because there is a lot of information on the website. In particular you can search if you have a problem and find an answer. Just because something has been around for a number of years does no make it useless.
Use-net is still useful for certain things, it's the content that makes a website useful, and UKTS has a lot of things that are irreplaceable.
