Yes, because they're the ones I grew up with - it really annoys me when they've got it completely wrong. It's the same with the 156 - whenever I spawn an NS one I have to change the spec of it to have the Central Trains interior, which has Chapman seating, much closer to the actual seats they had. They can clearly change things though - the DTG pack only includes the original 4-leaf folding doors and bench seats.
Unless being controlled by the Guard then both leafs should close at the same time. When the Guard is doing a platform check to see nobody is trapped the door leaf next to the cab stays open The Guard pushed the Doors Close and Local Open and that held his door open
As someone who grew up riding these through all their variants (and I love that AP have represented the three major engine/transmission combos), this pack is as near to spot-on as I could ever hope for. Just a note for anyone who wonders, the correct driving technique for the SCG mechanical gearbox variants is to notch up to max power from rest (unless in poor rail conditions) in the same way you would drive the 101, 117 etc. There is no oil bath to fill so you don’t need to pause in notch 3 in the manner you DO need to for the Voith hydraulic transmission types. I noticed on APs promo video the mechanical unit seemed sluggish off the mark but I suspect that’s because the same driving technique was being used. It’s been a long time since anyone has driven one of these things in original condition so I suspect the method has been forgotten! Edit: A question for the experts - how do you drive a mechanical 142 if it’s coupled to a hydraulic unit, and vice versa?
I will get it at some point but for now I'm heavily invested in Farming sim (and its plethora of free mods which is refreshing for my bank account at least), tbh it's nice to break free from the buy buy buy fixation you so easily fall into with these sims. Anyway time to go, these fields ain't gonna plough themselves.
Ah I had to pass on farming sim this month, I was too keen to get the 142 these commuters aren’t going to bounce themselves!
I'm not an expert but it was one of the classes I drove. You would give the unit Notch 3 and as the 150/156 coupled to it then powered up you gave it Notch 5 and then Notch 7. I don't know if it has been replicated - On the 142s there was a Hold Gear Switch on the panel and when switched on it would keep the unit in that gear. Handy if the unit was changing up/down/up because of a rising gradient.
Just to go back to this: It just screams lack of research to me - look at one photo of them and you can see it's wrong. https://www.flickr.com/photos/lastarial/24772004719 https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vb7l7DyD...0xEbYEFz4mtpX2ACLcBGAsYHQ/s1544/DSCN7475a.jpg https://www.flickr.com/photos/lastarial/22514028732 https://www.flickr.com/photos/emdjt42/5481547688 At least on the Waggonz one they put the high back Chapmans in - still wrong but it's much better than 3+2 bench seating, which the north eastern pacers lost almost as soon as NS won the franchise. There's many liveries that should have those NS seats, and I'm puzzled if they bothered to do a specific Welsh variant, why not a north east variant too? If the wrong seats aren't going to affect people's enjoyment then why did they bother modelling Chapman seats for the Welsh ones?
Considering the pack as a whole and some of the anal detail in the massive selection of liveries, I strongly suspect it's not a case of lack of research... I think you need to realise that sometimes not everything can be reasonably done. It's already well known that AP lack modelling skills at the moment so it's not something they can just click their fingers and get done. Not your problem of course as a customer but just to counter the idea that you think it's pure ignorance at play. Alternatively, look at what they do with sounds and liveries (though they do have an aversion to one-offs...), things they do seem to have full skills in and the results speak for themselves. Every company has their strengths and weaknesses. And for the record, I never said wrong seats won't affect enjoyment, just very minimally. Unless you are a very seat obsessed individual and fair play if so and you can't get over that, this pack certainly isn't for you. If you are more balanced than that though, the tone of your posts seem a bit off which seems to treat it like it's the end of the world and some kind of travesty. Perhaps some credit is due for producing yet another pack which no other developer even seems to close to on any regular basis? If it was so easy then there would be plenty more developers out there doing the same thing.
Would love to get the new Pacer, but ... there don't seem to be any passengers in the saloon. Was the train's comfort really that bad our virtual folk refused the ride? For a premium 30 quid one should expect this small detail being supplied?
I believe to have asked this before, but are there any 'seated passenger' figures in some assets one could put in the saloon? So at least in external view, there are some people riding the carriage.
I'd rather have no passengers than the woefully out of date, awful looking assets we currently have. Someone needs to update the zombies.
no not surprised really. duncan gives up a cab upgrade then soon after AP give us this announcement and no doubt the other packs will follow soon as well. Great to see continued development of stuff for TSC
Yeah, I saw something about game updates revealing optimization issues in the newsletter (which I received five times if anyone wants one of my copies LOL).
Hi, has anyone tried the new updated AP Installer? Opinions? https://www.facebook.com/share/p/qwT98LsosjJNBY2P/ (Edited to add an image, link is to a Facebook post nothing sinister, and the actual download is available from Train Sim Community)
Trev... "AP Auto Updater UPDATE V1.2.0 The AP Auto Updater has been updated to V1.2.0. This is a mini feature update based on customer feedback that builds upon the substantial V1.1.0 update last week. The main addition is the option to store the downloaded AP products permanently on disk for future use. This also enables the program to re-run an installer without downloading it again if the downloaded file is more recent than then last updated date on the AP website and in the last_updated.csv file. Lastly, it allows you to run specific installers again anytime you want without needing to download them yourself from the AP website. Other minor changes to note are the addition of an option to install the Low Resolution Clouds patch for the Sky & Weather Enhancement Pack 2.0 (only available if not running in automated mode), and that the password input has been obfuscated." it's by On Track Simulation, and you can get it at ---->> Armstrong Powerhouse Auto Updater - Train Sim Community
Not a scam. It’s just unofficial. It’s made by on track simulation and is available on Train Sim Community. I used to use it before the update and it worked well. Since the update though, despite following the instructions, it’s broken for me.
Hmm, odd, I had issues with the first version so stopped using it pretty much after one run when it first released, that's why I asked in here if anyone had any luck with the new version. I have since bit the bullet and just used it as I had a lot of updates since APs scripting fixes, seemed to do what it needed to do I just need to see if there are any issues in the actual sim now.
The text in the FB information is misleading with Armstrong Powerhouse in big letters Only further down is a link to the site where it is downloaded from. It should say if it messes up your installation its your fault.
You'd have to take that up with the Installer maker, I just asked a simple question and provided a link so that people knew what I was asking about, I wasn't expecting to be called a scammer and having my post quoted as misleading.. At least one person had the decency to answer my actual query though so not a total loss.
Seeing as I have somehow managed to acquire the entire current AP catalogue, I have to admit this little gem is worth it's weight in gold. It has saved me absolute hours of having to manually update nigh on 100 separate products. I have been using this product for an absolute age now with no problems whatsoever. The latest update seems to be equally as good. The only thing to be mindful of is some AV products can block it's progress. It is recommended to turn off any AV prior to using it.
Yeah me too, a tool like this is invaluable with so many installers so I'm hopeful with the feedback so far, thanks.
Personally I rarely update any of my AP Packs - unless it is required because it has stopped working. Sometimes the Update is related to something else AP Updated.
Pardon, the adjustable Turbo sounds was what I meant, and tread brake simulation on various stock. See the Update logs in the other thread.
Not to mention the scripting clean up which is possibly the number one most important update since the last core update highlighted certain lua errors. To my very limited knowledge of it anyway.
True, the Class 37 and 50 packs were among the finest things AP have done. Though 1st place goes to the Class 411. All are a pleasure to drive with the cab windows open.
You sure? Thrash mode is when you hear the outside sound inside. I'm sure that was an update that wasn't a feature on release.
To me there are too many updates to AP items that don't directly affect the operation of the main DLC. A lot of those mentioned are updates because of what the included scenarios use A change to the Sky & Weather pack gave a great load of of updates. Another change to the stock in scenarios created a load of updates and a requirement for people to purchase new stock If my AP - DLC is working ok without a problem I don't update it as I don't play the included scenarios
