Right now on Steam, there's an 80% discount on TSW3 Standard Edition. I don't have TSW3. I'm wondering if I were to buy it, will the content transfer to TSW4? I know that content for those who had TSW3 transferred to TSW4 when it was released. I'm curious if that is still valid? https://store.steampowered.com/sub/749139/
What's the actual difference between the TSW3 versions content and the TSW4 Compatible versions of the routes?
There is none. Ownership of any DLC for TSW2, TSW3, or TSW4 grants access to it in that game and all subsequent TSW games that have released so far, as well as all earlier TSW titles it existed for. The only differences come when you choose to play it in different versions of TSW where it has a different UI, may or may not have an updated lighting system, and may have either old bugs that were fixed, or new bugs introduced in newer titles that have not yet been fixed.
Thank you. Felt a little too good to be true at first, getting three routes for only 7,20€ Edit: Yep. It all transferred to my TSW4. TSW4 Compatible versions were added right away. Nice. Didn't plan on buying them, but have wanted them for a while.
So, I purchased it. When it offered me to install TSW3, I declined. Immediately, TSW4 update started. I still don't have TSW3, but that content is now in TSW4
I wonder if the reverse happens - if you buy a route in TSW4 that was a 'legacy' TSW3 or earlier route, does it automatically get added to your TSW3 content?
That depends on if the route exists for the earlier versions. Routes added in TSW4 are only for TSW4, routes added in TSW3 don't have a TSW2 version, etc.
So, it's 7.20€ for SEHS extended, Schnellfahrstrecke Kassel-Würzburg and Cajon Pass. A good option for anyone who hasn't got these DLCs yet.
I can confirm that. The Southeastern High Speed: London St Pancras - Faversham route is automatically added to my TSW2 as well. I've already mentioned that I don't have TSW3.
Yes I know, hence why I asked about "a 'legacy' TSW3 or earlier route" - i.e. a route that exists as TSW3 DLC as well as TSW4 DLC.
I'd already stated in my first post on this thread, way up near the top, that TSW-compatible content ownership grants it in subsequent TSW games to the one you bought it for, and in prior TSW games, so I assumed you were asking for further clarification already knowing this.
Apologies, didn't take in the "as well as all earlier TSW titles it existed for" in your original post. Thanks!
