Seventh/final installment in a multi-set chronological depiction of a now not-so-recent Autumn late afternoon / early evening Stopping Passenger Service QD on GAD's Dorset Coast route. Our train is again headed by LSWR T3 No.563, newly available as an update to Caledonia Works LSWR T3 Pack. It pulls four AP MK1 coaches. Being envisioned as the return trip of my prior LSWR T3 No.536 / Dorset Coast sets, the loco is now positioned tender first: Departing Parkstone. This was intended as the closing shot in installment six. But, as things turned out, beyond Parkstone lighting quickly became insufficient to capture post-worthy images, other than during station stops, of which only two remained: Paused at Brankstone: End of the line, Bournemouth Central: The above installment being on the short side, I include yet another image of a train at Swanage Station. It is fronted not by a T3 but rather its near lookalike, the T9, seen at distance in latter-day black BR livery. Not long after capturing it, I decided I needed a change of pace, abandoning the drive almost before it began. As to the image, for me the lady at screen right makes it post worthy: RW Enhancer 2, AP S&W 2 + Cloud Pack
I wonder, if you drive this loco in Florida or California (Surfliner) during winter, does it carry snow? The important questions.

It's 1954 and the 100th anniversary since the railway line through the Horseshoe Curve was opened. To celebrate, the Pennsylvania Railroad has organised a four train meet at night with a fireworks display. One of these trains is led by Pennsylvania Railroad EMD F7s '9821', '9822' and '9823' hauling 12 P70 coaches and 20 X29 boxcars with EMD GP7 '8510' to assist with the heavy load beginning from Altoona. The train must make a 5 mile journey to the Horseshoe Curve on a strict timetable to ensure that the perfect photo opportunity is met with many civilians watching the historic event nearby the railway tracks. On the journey to the curve, the leading locomotives had an engine issue but it was luckily sorted out in time and the train managed to make it to the curve for the photograph. steamylocoman If you enjoy the 87 I can highly recommend the Armstrong Powerhouse 87! It will enhance your TS 87 experience no end! Some spotting at Lime St......
Very nice. I do not I have that route, will look into it. Is great that after a decade or so all can finally see the BNSF livery !
On the spring of 1953 there was a fire in the Altoona yard. One of the towers caught fire. It was deemed an accident. Seventy years later a group of kids, in love with the special paints remembering old times parading the area, decided to investigate this incident for a school project. They found this photo among the memorabilia of an engineer, known around the area for jumpstarting his story by helping control the fire, participating in placing the last train for the Horseshoe Curve centenary photo, then serving under Conrail and retiring when Norfolk Southern took over. Always friendly to the cubs, sometimes taking them for a ride! The kids insist this wasn't an accident. Altoona yard, always busy, only with a green ear around? And look at this guy. Whether it's heavy metal or Scooter, a fire is a FIRE. This face? Boredom, disappointment, maybe mild anger. And this weird outfit - a non-disguise. It's fishy. Just saying. Two generations of UK / BR hoppers sitting in the somewhat overgrown yard in Woking. This duo of CP ES44ACs powering up to leave this field at Field behind. Class 47 action on the Portsmouth Direct Line. (Got my next research cut out for me. It's Network SouthEAST, but SouthWEST Trains. Probably, west of London and eastearn half.) BR Blue in lots of green. Leaving for "the loop branch" out of Kings Cross, rejoining at Stevenage. At this point I was looking forward to discover the scenery on this section. Turns out it rivals the old PDL, except there is better procedural grass.

Here is a preview as I approach the end of something that I've been working on for just over a month, NSE Class 101 DMU, with accurate vehicle and set numbering scripted throughout, for 1988 to 1995 - also includes preloads for each possible formation that ensures the DMBS vehicle will only be numbered appropriate to the sub-section for that specific formation/year combo. The set is seen on a run from Lowestoft to Norwich. Features include a choice of 9 scrolling destination blinds, 2 positions of sealed headlight, switchable NSE branding, optional blue window frames, optional NRN antenna, optional Route branding (DMBS only, for West Anglia, Thames and North Downs), depot stickers below the custom vehicle numbers which reflect accurate allocations by individual vehicle and set numbers, year variable and matching destination blind to the depot - but this can optionally be changed by the user if desired, to any of the provided blinds, a choice of all 3 styles of OLE sticker in the cab window. The interior textures of the model use a shader which doesn't accept diffuse light which gives the impression of being illuminated at night. I've added controls and number flags to remove the passengers and switch the interior to darker textures to mimic saloon lights being off (see final shot in this post). A new more accurate lighting system has been developed that no longer sees the marker lights and destination blind illuminating together with no option to switch one or the other off independently.
Four images of a Caledonia Works NER P2-P3, seen in BR livery, at York Station on York_Peterborough Modern route at the start of an abandoned winter morning York-to-Peterborough passenger run QD. I forgot to save this drive in progressive, intended to restart it in the near future . . . then for whatever reason lost interest. RW Enhancer 2, A&P S&W 2 + Cloud Pack
Fewer, but super cool contributions this week. The crane train looks sexy, also like the environment of Arizona Divide. Just a nice winter scene on the Horseshoe Curve, having recently departed Johnstown. For some reason the tracks split through Provo big time, enabling a well maintained branch line feel. Canadian Pacific intermodal passing ponds before descending to Lake Louise. Oceanblue-beige was DB's choice of color for prestigious fast trains, before turning white for fast and red for slow (hear that, DDR?). Here we are at Mammendorf on München-Augsburg - with a set of matching UIC-X coaches behind. The choice before was blue for first class, green for second. Another E18, here framed on Hagen-Siegen.
I don't have access to a poper preserved BR green class 40 reskin, so I thought I'd make do with what I have. Here we see D372 on the WCML south & Cross City merged route on train IZ87 "The Lickey Whistler" Railtour on the section between Bromsgrove and London Euston. The train originated in Hereford, and I took the train over as far as Rugby before I quit the game. As a quick drive, I made up my own stopping pattern. After departure from Bromsgrove, the train called at Birmingham New St, Birmingham International, Coventry, Rugby. From there it was to call at all major stations to Euston. Also mucked around with the reshade settings - increased brightness, decreased contrast a little and slightly decreased saturation.

Weekly time! Love the variety of the captures here, also nice to see some old content revitalised by updated graphics and rolling stock. Such as the post above. My support pictures are bit of a British rail tour. It's the final countdown - A PRR F7 waits for the whistle at Altoona, ready to leave for the Curve's 100th Anniversary photo shoot. In reality it was a very different train and arrangement, by now there is an opportunity to mostly recreate the original. http://rrpicturearchives.net/pictures/119835/Claar_20OCT54_01_A-Pc.jpg There is also a four page article about the entire event. This Class 158 is sprinting through fields of flowers and farms. From my Peterborough-Kings Cross-Peterborough round trip. A Network Southeast scene of a very wintry mood, on the North London Line. A Class 33 in MoW yellow-gray paint taking some Oovee tanks on Edinburgh-Glasgow. Funny about the route is how the mainline is fairly basic in contrast to the lines around Grangemouth. I'm suspecting historic reasons, these new assets becoming available during the latest stages of development. Class 08-57-66 says thank you, making good use of this section. BR Bleen Class 101 stopping on Settle-Carlisle. Given the setting I suspect the stop between Ribblehead and Settle.
Some recent enjoyment of AP's incomparable Class 142 masterpiece. Points for anyone who knows the locations: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
It's now soon approaching midnight during the Summer of 2013 and Amtrak Alstom Surfliner Cab Car '6903' 'Point Piedras Blancas' with 5 coaches behind and Amtrak EMD F59PHI '460' on the rear leads Amtrak Train 595 on the final leg of it's journey to Los Angeles Union Station running 5 minutes late after arrival at Irvine with 45 miles to go until Los Angeles; however the train should be able to make up time as the line is quiet approaching midnight as well as the fact that Amtrak Train 595 is the last northbound Surfliner run of the day.
