Agreed! The best looking routes (this one and Niddertalbahn) are from 3rd party developers. So much more detail around the track near the rails and so. Are you paying attention Dovetail? :)

…With no haptic feedback feature for PS5 controllers?
    …With screen stutter still present?

…And Alex quoting the route follows the same pricing policy as previous routes, which for me is clearly not the case as I now have to shell out for TSW4 (having already paid for TSW2 & TSW3) as well as the route.

My question is this watched the stream pacer is fantastic if we are driving with self changing gearbox how will this work on hills given there’s no gear hold switch to hold it in low gear going up hill

I think you just let the engine run down and it will switch itself back down a gear, kind of like automatic car gearboxes in some games. It's the only way I can imagine it being done in the absence of a gear hold button, otherwise it's just a case of jam it in full power and hope for the best.

I wouldn't recommend suggesting such a thing anywhere in the Blackpool or Preston area (might get away with Ormskirk :)) - worse than telling a Kiwi they sound like an Aussie. Like many a port city, the 'Pool accent has lots of foreign influences. Even the name, and local delicacy, (lob)Scouse (probably) originates from Norway.

But yes, there was a whistle from platform staff and an answering toot from the loco on departing AI services (from Preston, at least).

You have got to be ******* joking me! Just jumped back into a (saved) TSW3 simulation that I played a while ago… Nothing on my PS5 controller worked!! Ended up with an emergency stop situation approaching Higham!! AND DTG WANT ME TO PAY FOR TSW4 IN ORDER TO DRIVE THE PRESTON / BLACKPOOL / ORMSKIRK ROUTE.
Dear DTG, You really need to improve your existing products before expecting regular income from new ones.
I’ve been playing the DTG TSW simulator and watching your monthly roadmap streams for long enough now to have the personal opinion that your client base are being fed *******. Nothing changes!! It was my first experience and my current.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you have an incredible IP. When TSW works, it’s fantastic. It just doesn’t work well enough.

For anyone interested, once I’d sat idle in the driver’s seat for long enough, the PS5 controls started to work. However I no longer have the time necessary to complete the route.

Sounds like a save game issue. I'd advise not to save games for later. Saving doesn't work properly.

From what I have so far seen, the Just Trains route knocks the others out of the water! Very impressed with Just Trains route for TSC, the attention to detail is always spot on. Buy this on day one, as it will be sometime before Just Trains offer it on sale. Probably in late 2025 sometime on their website first and later on Steam.

Is there any documentation detailing the extent of the haptic feedback implementation?

I became quite excited when I read the DTG Live news feed advertising PlayStation Plus members could jump into TSW4 for free for a 2 hour trial period. Alas, not true! Why am I not surprised? PlayStation Plus Premium (top level) members are the only players who have this option. I’ve no idea why DTG should choose to limit the availability of a free trial to PS+ Premium members only. I would have thought getting a free 2 hour trial in front of as many players as possible would be a great sales and marketing initiative.

Probably cuz that's what Sony allows. Sales on consoles are determined by the platform itself (Sony, microsoft)

Don’t think so. It’s used for travelling over joint bars, switches etc. and for moving levers/switches in the cab if I recall correctly. Desired intensity is adjustable for each instance individually in the settings.

OK. I understand. I come from a part of Sweden with a special dialect that we're proud of, so I should know better. (Östersund, Jämtland. The train in my profile is the local commuter.) I should have asked: "Where are you from?" instead. I soon found out that is WAS an accent from the area around Blackpool, probably the north branch. It's me, being interested in British dialects, especially Scotland. I also found out that the lady doing the Scotrail Express announcements is from Inverness and now lives in Edinburgh. Rivet told me that.

Thanks for the info. Interesting! Anyway, I probably can't resist from buying this new route.

Interestingly enough, I myself am half Danish and English, and I see the so many names in the midlands and the north which have Scandinavian origin. Ormskirk, for example, translating (roughly - not 100% spelled accurately in modern Danish) to Worm Church.

But yes I can see scousers getting rather irritated by being referenced to those from Blackpool! Similar toy family being from Jutland and saying I sound like I’m from København when I speak Danish! ;) :D

It's one of the perks of the top tier membership. Game trials.
Nothing DTG can do about that.

I heard, from a Geordie, that Jocks are just like Geordies, but with the brains knocked out. I'm sure you'd hear precisely the reverse from a Jock…

    Try Oswaldtwistle (pronounced Ozzletwizzle) :)

Lots of place names and dialect words in the north of England and Scotland are lifted from Old Norse, e.g. bairn for child, kirk for church etc.

Liverpool had a tremendous influx of shipbuilding and dockworking labor from Ireland in the 19th century (including Paul McCartney's ancestors), and there are definitely Irish elements in the Merseyside accent you won't hear elsewhere in Lancashire.

First look at Blackpool and love it. And I haven't driven a train yet!

What is glorious is the total immersion. This is more than just driving the trains, this is being in the time and place as well.

It's the little things. I love the way the introduction starts outside the station, so that you have to walk in. Which perfect as that is what you do at the start of a journey - you walk into the station. You look around, get your bearings, maybe look at the departure board, go to your platform. I did that - and caught a train to Blackpool North.

And there are so many places to explore. You can walk into so many rooms! It is so frustrating on other routes where you can look through windows into rooms that have been beautifully crafted, but cannot get in (thinking of Edinburgh here!). But on this route you can - and you get great surprises. The view from the offices above Blackpool North station is terrific! The result is that I felt much more like I was actually at the stations than I think any other stations on any other route.

The difference between Blackpool and Preston here and - say - half-arsed efforts like Nottingham or Leicester on Midland Mainline, is like night and day, just off the scale. I remember Preston from the 70s and 80s because I frequently changed trains there and... this IS the Preston station I remember. It is orders of magnitude better than stations like Leicester, London Victoria, Paddington and even Brighton on other routes - all of which I once knew quite well - all of which are through a glass darkly in comparison.

Just Trains have a reputation for quality and detail and they have delivered here in spades. More, please! Just give me more!

"kirk" for "church" is a function of North Britain not following the South when certain sounds - such as K - became affricated in the 14th century. In Old English the word was circe (pronounced "kirka")

Now, there definitely are some Norse elements in place-names across the northeast, such as -by, -cliff and -ness. But kirk isn't one of them.

    Similar to Thorpe.

    also: see History section.
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ormskirk

Not specifically a name but it is old Norse, but no specific evidence linking it to someone specific

That's the type of dirty, overgrown, smog-heavy aesthetic I hoped for with TVL. BOP is really one-of-a-kind DLC.

Also your door is open ;)

According to the Reviews on Steam BEFORE BPO the reception was Mixed at 66-69% but now after the release it's now at Mostly Positive 70-75%.... This route might have saved Train Sim World 4, I mean the game wasn't even that bad to begin with. However This route serves as a MAJOR wake up call for DTG, the subpar and Mediocre content like PBD and S Bahn Voralberg isn't gonna cut it anymore

BPO definitely has set the bar and dtg now need to at least try and match it. But Besides that I think aside from the talent 1 Voralberg is actually pretty nice and for the most part well put together

Yeah I wouldn't get your hopes up. Matt said on Dadrail's charity stream that DTG spend 4 months making routes. What did JT spend? At least a year wasn't it? TSG spends ages making content too. They often say that it is unaffordable time but they do it out of passion.

DTG as discussed elsewhere are run by marketing people who want hype and sales, the budgets are set fairly stingily and deadlines are adhered to whether the items are really ready or not. So frankly, the more 3rd party items from JT and TSG the better.

In TSC DTG content is described as vanilla, it is the base that other companies then build upon in higher quality, TSW will likely go the same way.

Most of the time was learning how unreal engine and the tools work. Tsg is also a very small team, even smaller than jt along with other projects so it takes a while too

Same for JT, Rivet, Skyhook etc. They all need to make money.
