is there any way to reverse the control of the Sifa pedal, so you actually have to hold Q to hold the pedal? I am getting a foot pedal soon (hardware) to control it, and for more realism I want it to be the other way around, is that doable or...?

I'm using the program AntiMicro for this, It will only release Q when the pedal is released or fully pressed, I believe said pedal needs to have an axis for this, though, I'm using the throttle for my G920.

Check out Joy to Key. It's a keyboard emulator.
I've mapped the gas pedal of my driving setup to acknowledge safety systems.
I personally don't have it set to be held down, but that is possible with Joy to Key

That's actually a pretty good idea.

In HmmsimMetro it is similar, you need to constantly press spacebar to push down on the dead man's handle. It is a bit tiring, but adds some realism and immersion, I like it.

Zusi has the option to reverse the SiFa too. Some use an old secondary keyboard on the floor, with all keys except the space key removed :)

You could always use a normally closed Microswitch to control that? That means that when you release your foot it will cause the Q button to be pressed and when you press your foot down it will break the circuit

keeping your foot off and clicking a text box may cause mayhem I guess

Until you posted this, I had my pedal programmed to trigger Q when pressing the pedal. I opened the programm "Footswitch" that can be used to program my pedal and there is a way to trigger Q when releasing it. So no need for an additional program. Thanks for your idea !!!

I use this pedal: PCsensor Fußpedal PC USB . And here is the Footswitch Software.

Looks like it does not work as expected. The problem is that "Single Trigger" is too short to reset the sifa. So the Action Setting "Single trigger" has to be changed to "Continuous trigger"!

This is no problem with the "Press Trigger" option, as it is like pressing a key on the keyboard for a short moment. But with the "Release Trigger" option, the q key is pressed continuously, of course also when you have finished TSW. So when I release the pedal now, I can not write thisqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqoops, pressed pedal again, now I can go on writing. Unfortunately you can not define a duration of the key-trigger.
A workaround is not to use the keyboard function but the string function. There you can define a string of max. 38 characters, which is better, but not perfect.

In the end I returned to my original setting of "Press Trigger". Of course you can still keep the pedal pressed, then lift foot, and when you put it down again, the SIFA is released.

Although, this is where you have a two factor interlock. Similar to an EP key on a loco. You could have a switch to enable it. I.E. you put your foot on the pedal, unlock the system and then this will initialise the Sifa Pedal. Then when you are done, key off.

Two factor authentication, if you will ;)

Yeah, probably, but I use this program to bind buttons for many games, and I like to keep my foot in the middle, that's what I'm used for, you can't bottom out the pedal here :)

where can you set release trigger? I've just now finally got my footswitch and the elfkey software to set it up, works fine so far but with the reversed SIFA it is half a nightmare :(
