The roadmap says 2 new UK routes are coming within the next 3-6 months. Are there any theories, leaks or rumours as to what these routes are?
I don't think there are any concrete hints. Could always consider what's already been done in TSC and they may do a TSW version. Personally, if they do another modern route that has freight I would like to see a modern freight loco other than the 66. If it is set during BR diesel days I don't want to see another 101. One is being done by Rivet so it could be another Scottish route. A hint may be hidden in Berninalinie. It's possibly too early to gauge.
These routes, whatever they are really are going to need to impress as ECML really impressed me and BPO, is out of this world. In all honesty my attention is more focused on this new dev Simtrack (I think that were their name).
I have know idea was it cold be by since we’ve just got UK high-speed with ECML I imagine the next few routes will go back to being small commuter routes. Something like Cross city.
may do or could want to expand on the mainline routes more, with their being 2 would be nice to have both, rather than both routes being similar types apart from that doesn’t seem much to speculate on with current info, I predict neither will be BR (though saying that we may finally get BR layers on possible steam route) but apart from that may aswell guess or say every route
Hopefully not another A to B commuter route with one handled EMU. And if by chance one is a steam route, needs to be accompanied by radical improvements in steam physics. Anyhow going out on a limb here and predicting one of them will be set in the West Country or (finally) Wales.
We lack modern diesel routes, we only really have MML and GWE representing this segment so far. Speculating as usual, something like the Fife Circle with a Class 170 would be an ideal candidate, especially as Edinburgh is already modelled.
I would love to see the Werry Lines network from TSC make a return, that was by far my favourite. and plus, you can fill it with 158s (Ai) 156/153, 170s and the 37 + coaches. Now THAT would be amazing. But also the fife coast or the Western lines of scotland!
I hope one is a Welsh route we need one in the game the scenery would be amazing hopefully just trains do it there Blackpool route is awesome
Something with the new look mountains would be nice, maybe Wales or the Highlands of Scotland. The ECML and Blackpool didn't exactly set the world on fire with their scenery. I've seen enough parkland with trees poking out of it.
Liverpool Street-Norwich in the late 70s early 80s. With branches to Clacton-Walton On The Naze and S-ness Or Euston-Rugby with the class 81.82.83,84,85,86 and 87s Or even better Waterloo-Southampton in the 70s
I'd definitely vote for Wales. Shrewsbury-Aberystwyth-Pwllheli has great scenery, seaside, castles etc. and would be top of my list.
Personally, I would like a Class 390, 220/221, 222 and 350 if they're EMUs. Steam wise...some tank engines like the Jinty, Terrior, or a Manx Beyer Peacock. There would be more but it'll end up being a long list. XD
From my side I’d like to see the North wales coastal, we have the sprinters to make it work so it would just need the 175 or 197 to make it work now. Also have the option for a class 56 RHTT DLC & 221 DLC. I wonder if DTG though will be sticking to their desire to stick with the intercity theme as discussed with ECML. In that case I think it’s more likely we’d see a 390. On the subject of the 390, my only reservation with a potential WCML route would be the lack of stock to support it. With that in mind I would propose a section running from Piccadilly to Crewe, at least you’d get some stock running around on both ends of the route.
Hopefully the London, Tilbury and Southend rather than a route already done in train sim in various versions multiple times. would love Wherry lines but it’s been done. Love Great Eastern but it’s been done. Ditto sections of ECML and WCML. How about something not done before? Like LTS as a personal opinion. Other opinions may vary.
Newcastle to Carlisle? I were up there today and realised that route may well be a realistic contender in the future. It is a lovely route as well so would welcome it with open arms.
I could see Settle to Carlisle realistically being brought over from TSC. They wouldn't even need to make new locos. The base TSC DLC has the 66, 37, 158, Jubilee and 4F. Could even layer the Pacer, 150, and other BR era locos onto it. That said, I'd prefer an all new route and at least one new loco.
That would be a fantastic route! Length wise is doable, and it could be a good reason to bring in a Northern 158 and a 156! Plus, set it pre2020 and then a slightly reworked Pacer! Still would love to see a Borders and Berwick line though. So you could have the 385 services to North Berwick and then the 158/ 170 to Tweedbank.
sounds like a good pick for BR era, would be great to see Newcastle modelled like Preston is. also that guards whistle implementation would come in handy at least at Newcastle anyhows, I remember hearing it myself last year at Newcastle and that’s what hanging out at Preston in TSW reminds me of.
Yes very true. I am even unable to guess! It could be something like South London Lines or North London Lines..... but I have no idea. Apart from the south of the UK being so populated with routes they could be looking to Scotland or somewhere else. Not Wales as that won't sell. I have the Wales TSC content and honestly I won't buy it. Southend on sea or that area (sorry I lack geographical knowledge of the outer London area east of London) Colchester or even GEML Ipswich with Class 90/91s.... that is possible. Or Norwich to (Nottingham) Sheffield unless Skyhook has bagged it for development in it's timeline.
Ipswich with Colchester branch definitely I would like this and see it is getting closer to coming to TSW.
If you want to keep it going with the theme of TSC routes on TSW4 ATS Fen Line/Chat Moss GEML to Norwich complete with the class 745/755s Just Trains Erewash and Hope Valley Lines DTG North Wales line and South wales Coastal
Yes I think that was in the excellent WCML ATS Trent valley route. But it doesn't show it as part of the route. Where did I get the 225s (ie Class 91s) from? ECML London Peterborough? (TSC)
Id like to see carmarthen to cardiff central with 150, 175 with the 197 and 153 being a DLC, edinburgh-aberdeen with the 158, 43, 170 220/221 can be a DLC even tho its one train a day. C2C defo with 387 and 357, 720 being a DLC, London-Basingstoke & Portsmouth Harbour with 450, 444 and 455, 159 DLC but significantly cheaper for those who own MML, 458 and 707 also DLC. Would also love some london overground set in the transition period with 313 and 4 car 378s
Which routes and what is wrong with them, in your opinion? Welsh Marches is a cracking route, has some performance issues in quick drive (vanishing track) but has some nice scenery and challenging gradients in places. South Wales Main Line also very good. The only route I wasn’t too keen on is the TSC North Wales Coast but that’s largely due to the modern setting and bland trains it comes with, plus the bar was set incredibly high by the MSTS version, particularly the update which includes the Blaenau Ffestiniog and Amlwch branches.
As I've said before in the Suggestions sub-forum, the LTS line would be ideal for TSW - a complete line that's an hour and a bit end-to-end, with a mix of scenery (countryside, suburban, City of London and the seaside), plus some layering of AI services on SEHS (they run parallel for part of the Tilbury loop). It's also not just a straight line, with two different routes on the Tilbury loop. Also has a choice of EMUs, with the first iteration of the Electrostar family (the Class 357) and the more recent Class 720 Aventra.
Talking about more than one unit in a 2023 release is just pie in the sky I'm afraid. It'll be some linear route with a solitary EMU or DMU plus the ever present 66. That's yer lot.
Yes, I think this route is on my very short list of routes which I would love to see and would still be goodens in any era. Both a modern and BR blue era would give some half decent layers, more so at Newcastle and, providing a spiffing job is done on the scenery and bugs etc, it will definitely be one which would go down in high regards. North Wales coast in the 80s would sell itself if delivered in the same way BPO has been and South Wales line would probably sell itself in any era due to all the layers that could be provided both if done modern or backdated. Also as has been said above and many, many times in the past class 91s only operate on the ECML and it is class 90s on the GEML, but that would be a good route but realistically the stock needed for it makes it less likely to be the next release. Norwich to Nottingham is too long in one route, but there may be sections of line that service runs on which may be more likely.
Geographical wise you are either close or spot on. Something London-centric or LTS or Ipswich. If Scotland is in the works by a 3rd party like Rivet (or who? sorry I am not infallible) then it makes sense as I don't think another southern route is due because there are 3 routes in the south already not counting the West Somerset and Island line! Portsmouth or the other one Weymouth etc I think won't show up for 2 or 3 years. We need WCML in several parts first. And South and North London Lines. Something similar to a Japanese Tokyo metro route or Cathcart Circle or BCC.....
I only ask that it is either an end to end route or has logical start and end points if it’s a longer main line route.
If one of the routes is being done by Rivet I'd, shamelessly, love to see them do the Edinburgh - Glasgow Queen Street via Airdrie line since it's my local. Would allow them to reuse and further update Queen Street and Edinburgh and also have the novel setup of being at Queen Street and choosing to travel via the existing high level or head down to the low level platforms. Probably too similar to be its own standalone release though, having literally the same exact terminus stations as an existing route, and I'm not sure what the logistics are on big extensions to an existing route. Staying Scottish though, I think looking to the highlands might well be on the cards. Corrour as the highest mainline station in the UK could be a cool station to showcase, with trains travelling to and from Fort William. Edit: More of a wishlist thing than anything but if we're due any more steam releases in the coming year I'd love anything that'll give us a Jinty loco. We've got multiple large tender locos and no ideal shunting engine for working in the yards. I'd even take it as just a loco pack.
Extensions are possible (as proved with SEHS), but due to the way routes are built, on the technical side they are rebuilt from scratch, so not preferred.
Yes I am sure you do. But DTG would sell WCML or GEML or even Western Lines of Scotland more than a Welsh route. And that is how they decide on which routes to build. I got the one from the Trent area heading up the NW Wales yet it is extremely boring. It is a nice route and good scenery. Just not too many stations. West Cornwall is enough for those sorts of nothing to do routes. Maybe in a few years. I could be wrong. Maybe the demand is very high for Wales compared to West Coast Main Line. But in my opinion I would want to buy a WCML route etc as above, not a Wales route. I would rather another LGV route, a Japanese route (frequent stopping etc) or a German Berlin to Leipzig/Wittenberg route. I don't think there is much freight in Wales, is there? https://store.steampowered.com/app/...Wales_Coast_Line_Crewe__Holyhead_Route_AddOn/
I think we were close. North London Goblin Line was teased with Class 710s which look amazing. I wonder if it will include Richmond to Stratford? https://store.steampowered.com/app/325974/Train_Simulator_North_London_Line_Route_AddOn/ DTG will hit releases out of the park if they continue, they are outstanding choices!!
Provide us with a statistic to support the claim a Welsh route wouldn't sell as well as the other routes you mention. I know I would sooner take a North or South Welsh coast over the WCML or Western Lines of Scotland, though admittedly not the GEML. Also there are plenty of rather interesting freight moves in Wales from what I know.
