Well I finally got around to getting a raildriver for TSW4 and I have to say I am mightily impressed with KBS customer service. I ordered it yesterday morning and it is now already attached and calibrated on my computer! I think I can honestly say this will be a game changer for me. I do have one question though if anyone can help. Despite having all the UK content for TSW4, On the calibration screen there are only three locos showing up. namely the class 323, Class 66 and the Stanier 8F. Does anyone know how I can get the rest of my fleet to show up there as I would love to know what all the buttons will do in the different locos.
Welcome to RailDriver nation I got mine in 2021 and have really loved it, especially for American freight locos and for the UK BR 101.
that list has really changed randomly the past few days. Sometimes it shows only those three locos, other times, 7-8 additional ones. Back when full RailDriver capability was put on all locos, it used to show all of them. So I at least apologize, I don't know how to get them all to show up.
No need to apologise, Thanks for trying to help. Anyone else got any ideas, or is this a bug I should report?
In the UK here so it may not be helpful to you depending on where you are but I paid £229.25 +£10 shipping +£47.85 tax making a total of £287.10
I don't know why they're not showing up, but the RD is working on all my locos as usual, except the Blackpool ones. Honestly I don't look at the list these days but I do re- calibrate regularly. As far as buying the RD is concerned, you won't regret it. It's the only way I drive.
I’ve only ever calibrated my RailDriver once and it works for all trains so I’m not quite sure what the individual calibration by train is about. I’ve never used it (I don’t think it even existed at the start). I suggest just calibrating once against one train and see if it works for everything.
Thanks for your replies guys. I did the calibration and it seems to be working ok on the Class 101 on TVL. The reason I wanted the other locos to show up on the calibration screen was mainly so I could hover my mouse over the buttons and see what was different for each loco. anyway I've put a ticket in so I expect they will get back to me eventually and confirm whether it's a bug or not that they aren't showing up.
I think the individual loco calibration was supposed to be for assigning the smaller buttons at the bottom of the RailDriver, but I don't know if that works and I do what you do as well - calibrate once and it works for all.
I wish they were. I’m on my second one and looking into getting my third. I’ve used it basically since its came out and they last about 10 years with fairly regular use!
Ooh I think they last longer than that. I've had mine since forever. Used almost daily, it still works flawlessly. I've heard of units that are 20 years old and still working. They're very durable unless you mistreat them.
Considering how old they are, You would think DTG could come up with a more simple method of programming the buttons for TSW4
Yeah, good point. The one I have now is great! They are extremely durable, considering the moving parts that could easily fail. I asked about being able to do this. I will give DTG credit though. The in game calibration they came up with and how simple and easy it is for Raildriver to connect to TSW is a major plus. It's easier than TSC. I just wish we had a way of being able to customize things like the buttons.
When you asked, What was the reply? Any prospect of the buttons being made programmable (or at least releasing a standardised set of instructions for the buttons?
No, it was just basically that there's no way to do it. And that if you want to be able to do things like this, use the 3rd party software from Cobra. I still just use the TSW Raildriver connection and calibration. I gave up on wanting to reassigned buttons.
Well I find their answer rather strange to say the least. Considering the way the unreal engine allows for fully customisable control options in ATS/ETS2 It beggars belief that the same can't be achieved in TSW4.
I've got one if anyone is interested. I don't use it anymore. No room on my desk. I live in Rotherham South Yorkshire
