Heavy rain pours down over the north east coast of The United States of America as Amtrak EMD AEM-7 '901' with 6 Amfleet coaches embarks on a southwards journey covering 3 states beginning at New York Penn in New York at a quarter to 6pm. After departing, the train will be stopping at Newark Penn and afterwards making a stop at Trenton Transit Center in New Jersey at half past 6pm. Now in Pennsylvania the train makes stops at Cornwells Heights and North Philadelphia before arriving at it's final stop at William H. Gray III 30th Street at a quarter past 7pm with the train covering a total distance of around 90 miles in almost 2 hours during a Summers evening of 2000. EMD AEM-7 1.jpg

It's a clear Summers day over Wyoming in The United States of America at an hour and a half after noon and Union Pacific GE ES44ACs '7345' and '5379' depart from Perkins on the Laramie Subdivision after waiting for an eastbound train to pass and lead 60 autoracks west to Laramie covering a distance of around 26 miles.

Three examples of Gateshead motive power. In the first picture, D244 works north of Newcastle with the down "Flying Scotsman". In the second, 60088 "Book Law" speeds south with the up "Tees-Tyne Pullman" and in the third, a V2 on the Bournemouth-Newcastle overtakes another V2 on a train of hops for the Newcastle Brown breweries.

It sounds a bit like Jamie, but: some really nice pictures, well done everyone! ;)
Nice to see Jörg back for a set. Very fond of the pic directly above by Limeyfox, old assets but great to look at imo.

Horseshoe Curve Observer. The title of both the scenario and the picture.
Things have clearly changed over the years. Being at this location could be considered trespassing (and a challenge). Wearing this shirt would evoke some whistles. Most importantly, however, suspension systems for cars have definitely degraded from smooth hovercraft to silly pipes, springs and all else. I mean, there are maglev trains, why not cars? Power train and steering are some challenge, though.

The Baldwin DR-12-8-1500/2s are starting to roll off the assembly line during the Spring of 1947 and Pennsylvania Railroad Baldwin DR-12-8-1500/2 '5823' leads a late afternoon test train of 1 D78d dining coach, 12 P70 seating coaches and 2 B60b baggage cars to trial the capabilities of this brand new diesel locomotive. Company managers and engineers will be travelling on the train with the D78d dining coach being converted into a mini lab to test the engine's performance. As a part of the tests '5823' begins in the yards of Altoona and makes a brief ascent into the Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania heading west before utilising the Conemaugh Loop at Gallitzin to descend back east to Altoona to finish the trial run.

Mucked around a little more with the reshade preset - just minor adjustments, but damn, I reckon this is probably as close to TSW graphics I could get - a 158 on the Huddersfield line.

It's all about compromises, your 1st and 4th is really nice, I definitely agree. :)

My weekly is a bit funny, as all supporting pictures rolled from three years ago, December 2020. It's part of the point, sharing the memories. Plus, bottom-up it's in seasonal sequence. It is interesting to look back, how around that time I was trying to maximise complexity (details) as a measure of quality, sacrificing focus a bit. Granted, I didn't use zoom for a win-win compromise. And I was (still am) exploring old stuff where - as Blazin explained - bringing individual assets may expose their simplicity too much.

    Goodbye, Autumn.
This is near the end of a busy day on Ohio Steel.
Took me a while to realize that these are actually covered flats, transporting heavy metal goods. Not vinyls.
    20231127083540_1.jpg
Now this is Memories. This old 151 is as basic as it gets, as such it does feel old. And the interesting wagon pack.
This Hagen-Siegen scenario is all about changing weather.

EWS Class 66 '66127' leading 11 loaded PCA wagons takes a rather brief unusual and rarely seen freight journey on the North Clyde Line due to overrunning engineering works at Larkfield Junction forcing freight services to be diverted. '66127' will be joining the North Clyde Line at High Street Junction and travelling 8 miles and finally exiting the line at Sunnyside Junction after being held behind passenger trains along the way and witnessing a shockingly fast weather change from clear skies to overcast skies with showers of rain.

Bit of a slow week, this past one. People busy preparing for the holidays? :)
Nice to see the new foliage pack, and I really like the set by Limeyfox.

I can almost hear the screams, those pixels! Nevertheless, I like this scene, so here you are :) Ohio Steel 2.

Quick test run on Sherman Hill with the boxes. I wanted to see how the blue ones look with the grass, but anyway.
Recently rwaday asked about old coupler physics, this showcases them well - even just this single loco expands them so much.
Similarly, yesterday I ran the PRR F7 and it did dance quite a bit with dynamic brakes. Turns out the B unit merged into the A.
Visually, however, I definitely like these boxes.

Class 33 on the ECML, heading north from London Kings Cross towards Peterborough. (simonmd's)
Kinda wish I could tell a story for this one - is this a rail tour, or is it realistic as a 70s semi-transition fast train.
While I do like the mood of this run, I mostly remember these due to the tree branches. Being a workshop route I can't tell whether these are the ECML or also the Riviera trees. Anyhow, they may be an attempt to reduce antialiasing flicker, or performance. An interesting experiment nevertheless. They look splendid in the summer, you may recall some BR Blue shots.

An early morning Pacific Surfliner train passes the diesel fuelling point at the Metrolink Central Maintenance Facility north of Los Angeles whilst approaching its next station call at Glendale on the way north on a test run.

    Workshop Route: Pacific Surfliner II.

Inverness UK, circa 0755 on a cloudy Autumn morning. A Caledonia Works Highland Railway "Jones Goods" 4-6-0 tendered steam loco, seen in yellow livery, hauls passengers aboard five AP MK1 coaches, from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh on Just Trains - The Kyle Line. This is my first screenshot capture attempt following a long absence due to having to reinstall Win10 following what proved to be unrepairable boot partition corruption and a series of messy reinstall attempts. As it is, I can not get RW Enhancer 2 to load, despite being all but 100% certain I meet all needed system requirements. So far as I can tell, AP S&W2 + Cloud Pack function as expected, though at this stage of the game I take nothing for granted. It is what it is.

    Two views at Inverness Station:[IMG]

I assume this to be Inverness outskirts:[IMG] Rural images:[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]Departure from a station whose name/location I failed to document:

Part 2 of my chronological depiction of a still-ongoing Autumn morning stopping passenger service QD, from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh on Just Trains - The Kyle Line, a route purchased at the tail end of Steam's recent sale. The train consists of a Caledonia Works Highland Railway "Jones Goods" 4-6-0 tendered steam loco, seen in radioactive yellow livery, pulling four AP MK1 coaches. According to (link) Rail Map Online - UK & IE Railways (link) The Kyle Line was, during the pre-grouping area, part of The Highland Railway, making it a suitable match for the loco.

A decent amount of time has passed since the close of Part 1. The sun is higher, the day brighter. (Images were captured during the interim. None are post worthy.):[IMG] [IMG] Minuscule Conon Bridge station:[IMG] Crossing River Conon:[IMG] Dingwall:[IMG] Dingwall:[IMG]

This unusual shot was almost by accident, I pressed F4 and the camera landed in the car park above Mutley Tunnel, at the top of the short climb out of Plymouth.

I certainly agree, that yellow Jones Goods looks fabulous. And the Mutley Tunnel shot is smart :)

Shoreliner III leading from Bridgeport toward the Waterbury Branch on the New York to New Haven line.
This is from the workshop scenario GWD242. Worth a run. I expected to see a little more of the branch, and seemingly random signaling did slow me down, causing to fail Bridgeport (leaving late) and consequently the scenario.

High capacity local stops near the end of a long descent toward Altenhundem.
This section adds character to Hagen-Siegen, of course old timer graphics are best observed from the cab, still I consider this a bonus over the TSW version. A different challenge, too.

Most if not all these images were captured as the train climbed a long incline. It was quite the struggle, the train usually varying between 12 and 18 mph. It did not help that the incline began immediately following a reduced-speed section of track needed to accommodate tight curves.

Traversing a well-banked curve at low speed:[IMG] Sparks fly as we traverse another well banked curve, following soon after the first, on an incline:[IMG] Still climbing, still banked:[IMG] Climbing, sans curve. By this point I was glad I settled for no more than four MK1 coaches, which in any case is plenty for a stopping service with mostly minuscule station platforms:[IMG] Driver's view of the countryside captured leaning out of the cab:[IMG]

This train reversed at Sheffield and I've included the run-round procedure and as much AI traffic as I could base on the 1987 WTT.
