Hey, after posting so late after the release I have no hope of the cruise controll to be fixed, but this is not how it's supposed to work on the talents and like this it's quite anoying. I had the chance to check out a real talent onboard while driving and the cruise controll works way better. First the cruise controll switch is springy, when you pull it it turns on cruise controll and returns to the middle, you pull it again and it turns off cruise controll and goes back to the middle. You can turn on cruise controll at any time to the speed indicated on the monitor no matter what speed you are going with at the moment and setting your power handle to the middle, or braking doesn't disable it. And an awesome little feature of the switch is pulling it twice quickly to set the speed limit to max (140km/h). Still crossing my fingers to get it to be in game like the real one. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also other bugs I've noticed. The main circuit sound is unaudible when first sat in the driver's seat, you have to turn the main circuit breaker off and on, the sander switch doesn't exsist on the real talent but the sander button does (above the horn buttons), the in game sander switch on a real talent is a magnet test stwitch like the br 628 has in game and the indicator litght are also dimm but that was already mentioned before.
Noticed there’s 2 DB BR 185s as duplicate on the train depot, there’s one on the BR 185 RP section which shouldn’t be there & this should be on the same DB BR 185 in red livery section, hope DTG can fix this
The S1 services which are Bludnez to Lindau have Bludnez as the destination when it should be Lindau and the St Margthen trains I think S3 come up as Lustena as the destination board. * spelling of names likely wrong in this post*
It's worse than that- it disengages and registers as not "on," but still does not register as "off," so it cannot be used, but cannot be turned on again from the keyboard. You have to cycle the switch with the mouse, which is a huge PITA. The system is exactly the same Tempomat as on the Talent 2, and should work the same way.
Neither will the train IRL; although it is proper operating procedure to pop the breaker yourself, because on older trains the electrics could be damaged, on modern trains like the Talent and Vectron the breaker will just open on its own: no harm, no foul.
I don't know if things have changed in 50 years - I imagine they have - but when I was a boy Austria's attitude to plowing roads was rather... casual. As in "God put it here, God will take it away."
Winter core update part1: very good visible indicators! Great!! (PZB indicators are at about 30% in screenshot, instruments at 2%)
Well, it's only partly fixed, in day light it's just like any other train soo yippie I guess, but the thing is (I've posted this in the maintalbahn feedback thread, 5th page, with images) there's still this bug which causes every indicator to go so dim you can't see it in the dark. There's a certain time when it goes dim and comes back and I also replied to my post again (6th page on the maintalbahn feedack thread), I have noticed that the date affects these times when the indicators go dim. Two other screenshots of the bug.
Gave the route another go last night to check the fixed safety-system lights, looks like they're okay now. But the immersion-breaking pop-up of the mountains is still really bad. Watching the mountains suddenly appear along the route at 100 km/h, seeing strange solitary mountain outcrops in the distance suddenly being linked to other mountains in the distance, trees popping into existence on previously treeless mountains. I never get the feeling of actually driving in Austria. I guess it's down to the limits of the engine. Or maybe it's not as bad on Ultra settings on PC (I'm on XSX). Whatever it is, I should probably just steer clear of mountainous routes in this game.
Yeah, they should really increase the terrain draw distance. It was ok for early routes where you didn't see far ahead, but it is different on more recent routes and very noticeable. Same for train pop pop in - on many US freight trains the rear of your train does not render, even though you should still clearly see it.
It still shouldn't happen I don't care what engine they are using. Ive seen Unreal 4 used before in other games and it doesn't happen. Sand Patch Grade is an excellent route but the mountains should not appear 400 yards along the yard.
Draw distance is a configurable variable, and on PC we can (and do) usually extend it well beyond the default value. But the default is there for a reason- on older/weaker hardware, draw distance is one of those settings which can absolutely nuke framerate. The default value is something DTG should review going forward, since 8th-gen consoles are finally going away (no new AAA games are being released for them, so everyone is finally upgrading).
So why not just ditch 4K/60fps for consoles (which is nowhere near doable in TSW4 anyway) and aim towards a more realistic resolution @30fps with improved draw distances and lodding?
Oh, ok. Not doable in the sense that it can't (and never will) maintain a stable 60fps...but hey, you knew exactly what I meant and i've got no desire to get embroiled in a petty squabble so I'll leave it at that.
This route just looks absolutely terrible on xbox series x with the scenery, especially the mountains popping in out of nowhere. The draw distance needs to be increased
This is a very special post for me... It is just to thanks DTG very much, for selecting one of my pictures, on their official Tweeter channel!. This one. Really appreciated it! Thank you, best regards. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, for all DTG and Community members, and your families!
Was about to mention this, just noticed this on my S1 service Bludenz -> Lindau. Interestingly this repeater is equipped with a 1000hz PZB magnet that even though the repeater shows „Halt erwarten“ isn’t activated.
PC on Steam Collectable >> resolved it's above ! A hat is missing at Bludenz station; instead I have a cobblestone decoration next to the seats
since you posted a pic of Taurus, it is kinda weird that we have finally gotten an Austrian route, but Taurus, pretty much Austrian national loco, is still not represented there as a passenger loco... dunno about Vorarlberg specifially, but around Vienna and in its Nahverkehr Ostregion, Taurus push or pull every possible passenger consist, from dostos+control cab (Wiesel/CityJet liveries), CityShuttles, IC coaches... to famous Rail/NightJets
and now, just to tease your train-brain - that is "just" the top level - which does serve almost every type of service... even Aspangbahn (5047s)... I am usually lucky to get a nice view on ICEs as well, either to/from Dortmund or Hamburg... then there are platforms 1-2, which serve the S-Bahn Stammstrecke - those serve S-Bahn as well as regional services, so you see stuff like CityJet Desiros, Talent 1s (4024/4124s), 4020/5040s and of course dostos with Tauruses... and THEN... you have tram line 18 sandwiched there somehow (it goes surface level after this stop)... then there are various tram lines AROUND the station (with tram D having a stop near the opposite end of the platforms downstairs (not near A section, but at the opposite end)... oh, and U1 of course, which is way down below everything ... and as a bonus, when trains go the direction towards Danube, the station still continues into Autoreisezug section and some yards and all... I remember the old Sudbahnhof (now remade into Quartier Belvedere S-Bahn station), and man it looked ugly and sucked, not really a place you would want to wait for long ... this one is fckin impressive now that I'm done gushing over that station, I should probably mention that for 2022 and 2023, continuing now, I dedicated most of my trips to not only getting to know Vienna, but also get a thorough view of its transport system ... so I made a point to ride every single passenger corridor in the city and to nearby towns (S4 from Stockerau, S2 from Wolkersdorf, S1 from Marchegg during construction on Marchegg-Stadlau line), S3 from Korneuburg... you name it )... and I am just so freakin impressed... there are also plans to extend S45 from Handelskai to Praterkai, where there are talks of transfer point between S45 and S80 and other regional services, kinda forming sth akin to Ringbahn... S80 corridor will soon have its grade crossings removed and tracks polished, improving speed and frequency... Stammstrecke is gradually undergoing conversion to ETCS, at which end it will have INSANE frequency of service and THEN... in 2023, OBB announced a couple HUGE purchases, like 21 Stadler Kiss trains for long-distance RailJets within Austria, some more Vectrons for NightJets, and like over 500 Siemens Mireos (saw a couple vids with those from Munchen Hbf, and they sound basically almost the same as current Desiro MLs, just look different and have slightly different behavior)... man ok gushing over #OBBfanboy
Go back towards the platform, there is a set of stairs going up facing the platform, the collectible is above where your screenshot is.
DTG Alex DTG JD please inform the dev team that we can't see anything at night with the 4024. Where are the headlights????? unplayable...
Is the pathing on the "Pick Up" scenario correct for the double headed BR185? There is a long section of wrong way running and you have to stop at a red signal for quite some time for two 4024 services to take a station siding.
for me it also displays kN crossed aka no power if I am in cruise control and just reduce power... to be able to apply power again I have to go down to idle and set the throttle again and reset the cruise control switch (in German Talent 2 it only resets anything if you go down to zero throttle)... is this how it is supposed to work?
ok I see my reading skills have gone bad lol... just now noticed that important information about moving the throttle down by more than 10%... and tried it... it really works... if I move throttle up by any amount, it does nothing, of course, if I move it down by small increments, the cruise control stays on, if by a lot, it disengages cruise control and cuts off power as well, so I have to go down to 0 and reapply throttle my airheaded brains, gah
Glad you like it. It's sort of my home station (I live in the quarter in the south of it). Yeah! Great description!
you mean Sonnwendgasse and surroundings? or Favoriten? Simmering not like trying to get your address, just curious for the last two/three years I have been travelling to Vienna like once or twice a week (my Vienna day aka gym + plasma donation + exploring Vienna and surroundings), so now I can find my way around the city quite well, maybe even better than some who live there already ... hopefully I can get a job there and eventually move into the city, somewhere (hopefully sth with English cos even though I have some basic German it sucks and isnt nearly enough for a real conversation) and I have also explored most of its transport network quite in depth, first hand, and I really admire it
Yes, that, its called the "Sonnwendviertel" and it's part of the district of Favoriten. " Sonnwendgasse" is one of the streets in that quarter. "Simmering" is the neighbouring district on the east of it.
oh yeah, I probably got it confused cos one of U1 exits at Hbf goes to Sonnwendgasse I believe nice part, I especially like how there are the buildings in one line, then the whole square or what playgrounds and activity/community spaces, and then the tram line having like 2-3 stops along the whole thing (I believe it is D from Absberggasse to Nussdorf which I take regularly from Hbf to Franz Josef Bahnhof)... really neat part, even though Seestadt is a tiny bit flashier anyway, if you dont already know, I know of a great and safe way how to get to a great and legal vantage point from which you can observe Kledering action
No there isn't a (direct) U1 exit to Sonnwendgasse, that one is in the south of the Main Station itself. The park there is one of the biggest in Vienna and is quite busy, especially in summer. Yes its the Line D, that runs through the quarter.
I just discovered to my detriment, that if you inadvertently open both doors on the Talant you are stuck. You can't get either door to close at that point. It happened to me twice since I am using keyboard and hit the wrong key to open them. Haven't played this route for some time, so, thank the Lord, have been frequently saving.
On the scenario "Go hard", after stopping the third time, I cannot move again. There is nothing I can do to get the train working again. Tried opening and closing the circuit breaker, pzb release... nothing works other than the windscreen wipers. Is this a bug or is there something I'm doing wrong? I play on Xbox series X.
While the lighting in stations is very good, evident once again on lineside buildings in urban areas a simple flat yellow/white texture has been used over window glass to represent lights switched on at night. Consequently there is little to no ambient light in any of the towns or cities that you pass through. As we’ve said before, GTA SA in 2006 could do light pollution and brightly lit area coverage. Here we are nearly 20 years later and DTG are still giving us MSTS levels of night lighting. The 4024 headlights are odd too. In clear conditions there is virtually no projected illumination on the track ahead. Reloading a saved game though the volumetric fog kicked in and you could clearly see a cone of light from the front of the train, reflecting back off the fog particles. The other thing that irks is those very low res PIS displays, both the overhead version and the billboard style, which don’t seem to be dynamic anyway listing trains in the early hours of the morning when you are driving at around 2000. This is yet another route that would have benefited from a bit more time in the making, or the attention of the much lamented former preservation crew.
Have you tried going into the menu and pressing that reset button in the lower left corner? On pc, this menu is accessed with the escape 'esc' button.
Save Game/Red Signal Lock Up - REX1 5599 Lindau to Bludenz. Stopped at red signal on approach to Feldkirch, after resuming saved game from Bregenz earlier. Booked platform is occupied by another pair of coupled 4024's at a red signal. Several other trains also stood in the area. There is a loco hauled service on the adjacent platform shown to depart at 2309. That got a green signal after I walked up to Feldkirch station but still sitting there. As this is a Journey Mode run seems not possible to delete any trains from either the 3D world or th 2D map (not sure what key it is anyway).
I think the distance markers might be wrong, but I'm not sure. Perhaps someone can clarify. If you go from Lindau to Bludenz, the distance marker at Lindau is 0.4 km and Nüziders (the last stop before Bludenz) the distance marker says 65.4 km. However if you go from Bludenz to Lindau, the distance markers are the same (Nüziders is 65.4 km when I suppose it should be the distance from Bludenz?). Shouldn't it start from 0-ish from both ends?
There is the achievment for getting all collectibles on the route. I found all of them and it even says i got 26 out of 25 chocolate bars (lol) but the achievment does not unlock. *sigh*
