I thought about this for some time because we could use the class 143 Pacer and even loco hauled trains to Scarborough including steam railtours we can use the Azuma train too going towards Newcastle via Darlington and Durham
They would be separate routes if either of them come. whilst I want to see the ECML North Sections i personally think it should be Doncaster to Newcastle and Newcastle to Edinburgh. if they do up to Newcastle it’s really best not to start in York as the York to Doncaster section could be missing for a really long time. edit: seeing as Newcastle to Edinburgh looks to be a challenge maybes best to save it to last and see either Kings Cross to Peterborough or Doncaster to Newcastle first. That way we could also carry on services with the Current section just by switching routes as a compromise to it all being connected.
Think the rumours are saying the next UK route will be something originating from King’s Cross, so if it goes in the ECML direction you could be spot on.
