Will wait for a sale for this one. Shame really. Whilst I understand people have their preferences... this would have been a killer route to have a Pacer, 156 and re-use the class 66. Also doesn't seem to introduce any new mechnaics/gameplay to TSW.

I'm happy with this.... As it's set in 1989 all i'll have to do is dust off the old stone roses LP and bingo....

Not sure how much siding shunting there's been as yet, and we also don't know if there's going to be the possibility of interaction between shunters and freighters as yet either so to say it introduces nothing is a bit premature?

I couldn’t agree more! The NEC freight route is great because you can explore the yards and the MSB banking operations added something new. Having a route with more options and things to do is a good thing.

This DLC looks great and I'll def pick it up...my only concern is at 27 miles, the route is going to feel extremely short. WSR which is the only TSW route which is shorter was offset by the 25mph speed limit....but that won't be the case in TVL

i agree the route should be longer. NTP is about 40 miles and GWR 32 miles

What sort of speed limits are we looking at on this line. Im imagining these double headed 37s are going to average around 40 mph. With some extra duties at one end? So 50mins to an hour?

Yes I agree but it depends on what is located in between those 29 miles, if the route it self is fun to drive and if they have depots and yards that we can use in between then I am totally okay with it being a 29 mile route. Hopefully we will learn more soon!

Lots of Yards, this is a major freight route for coal and steel trains.

Hopefully that equates to plenty of shunting scenarios ! I don't feel as bad now for the short route length

That’s one thing I’ve noticed with some the routes though. Plenty of yards but no scenarios or services that use them. On RSN you have a yard at the cement factory that has an icon that you can load your own freight but sadly there is no scenario or service that uses it. Hopefully in the future they will! I don’t know about the rest of the community but those little side jobs make for a fun and varying experience.

Yeah, RSN (and MSB) don't have diesel locos to use on those sidings. A DLC is very, very probably in the works that will add one, though- a reference to a DB BR 294 has been hanging around the game file thingy for a while now. Interesting that this time the switcher comes with the route, huh.

Yes, I’m hoping if they add the DB BR 294 they will take those services into account. The fact that they do have a switcher releasing with this route gets me hoping to see more services like that on this route.

I usually don't like to complain to DTG because they don't have to even give us a product and I'm generally happy with them. But, seriously, another vintage UK route?! I usually like routes like this but a modern UK route hasn't been released since 2017. And not even that is up to date now.
On a positive note, it still looks like an interesting route. Good to see the 37 coming, and being able to use the 08 for their original purpose. And hopefully, with all the porting into other routes, the 37 and 08 will be able to be used on NTP.

I will be heartbroken if we can’t use the 37 and 08 on NTP. When they released the 155 for RSN and they announced you could swap out with MSB services it was exciting to see that they were able to do this. I think it would disappoint a lot of people if they didn’t make this essential for other routes that ran the same locomotives. That actually might be the reason they wanted to make a 1989 route so they could tie in other locomotives from NTP and vice versa.

Do you think DTG would have released information about using the locomotives on other routes in this article? It might be something we learn closer to release but I feel like that would be a BIG selling point. Let’s hope!

They need to include a ferry from Saltburn that takes you straight to Perth, Western Australia. That's the best us Aussie cobbers can hope for right now.

Unrelated, but what's with the mass downvotes in this thread? Like 80% of comments got a downvote for no discernible reason.

The 66's didn't enter service until 1998 so they would be 10 years from the future for that route.

I noticed that, a guy called rustybedsprings has done that to everyone. Probably doesn’t like the idea of the new route ‘so now I’m gonna downvote everyone that doesn’t agree with me blah blah’

Interesting that US has been skipped in the order that it regularly releases. But I welcome any addition to TSW.
This also seems like an interesting route to do some actual shunting with that Class 08.
As DTG has in MSB, NEC and other several service modes that connect to each other, it could be applied here, shunting with some Class 08 and freight cars. Moving them to the Main Line siding, picking up with the Class 37 and deliver somewhere.

The Class 37 is the classic traction that people that play TS Classic know and it coming to TSW, it is an old locomotive in TS Classic, but recently a pack from Armstrong Powerhouse and Master Key Simulations breathes new live into that Class 37 with Sounds and much, much clag (don't think that TSW can top that as the clag has been minor and how Unreal renders it differently).
Wondering when the developer tools are out if they can port it to TSW as DTG did with their BR 155 (which was heavily modified).

Hopefully that is still top priority, the editor, as the game has been out more then 2 years and enough content. But we need to remember that projects are started and then take months and months to complete so what comes out could very well be started before they started work on the public version of the editor.

It wouldn't be impossible for DTG to use rolling stock from an older release such as the NTP into a newer release, it has been done before with RSN and MSB with the BR 143. Backwards too with I think the rallion variant of the 185.2, don't remember if it required a route update.]
So it isn't out of the question that these routes could be used with both stock, maybe not directly after release, but after it.

As to my every growing collection of TSW, this is a nice addition to add.

As for downvotes, people like to downvote if they don't agree instead of respecting other people opinions.

I'm really happy for who wanted and waited for some British freight & shunting action. As for me, I can't help but be a little bit disappointed by the lack of a Class 142, it seems to me that this route was the perfect fit for it!

The 37's on this route are 37/5's in Railfreight grey the subclass and the livery didn't exist in the NTP era so I don't expect them to be ported over to NTP.

Did he say "different order" or that there was no specific order?
I've not seen anything from DTG that there ever WAS an order, only people on here beating that drum

Yeah, but there definitely was an order for the last 9 DLC... doesn't sound like much of a coincidence to me. As this would have been the beginning of a new "cycle" it's the perfect time to change that order, or just get rid of it and release things whenever.

Doubt it will be this week anyway. On Twitter DTG told me this Fridays live stream is TS19 only (bit disappointing) so there is obviously nothing to talk about for TSW, though would have been nice just to cover the new class 52
