So, now I finally digged into platform creation. I use the way Lukas described in the Track & Signals masterclass video to using the Offset loft tool to place platform edges (timestamp 2:26:26 in the video): Now I stumbled over two problems, mainly because of the irregular nature of my platforms (they are not of equal broadth between the tracks and maybe even have some gradient in it). 1. The platform generated is too broad for some sections of my platforms, so that I if I lay platform edges from both sides, either one side is covered by the other. I am looking for a way to make the generated platform edge less broad/thick (make it thinner - shrink it/cut it) so that I easily can place them one over another and "shape" them to my platform. 2. How do you deal with gradients of platforms after placing them? For the tracks we have the height nodes to adjust the gradient, but for the generated platform proxies we only have the vertical Gizmo tool to move it up, but doing so moves the complete platform proxy up and is not the thing I need when dealing with a gradient of the platform. Here are few photos to illustrate my weird platform creations for the last minutes. In the first two pictures you can see the problem that the platforms are too broad to be laid over another. The third picture shows you the problem where I would like to have height nodes for the platform proxy on each end of it to adjust the gradient. Do I really have to go for the way of making a costum platform asset or is there an easier way to deal with irregular platforms?
Platforms which are too broad will have to be fixed up by exporting to e.g. blender and connecting the pieces. I also had one instance of that and it's not too tedious to fix Maybe there's another solution though
I guess I have to do so as well. But I'm also abit afraid that the material (platform color and security stripe) might not line up very well with the other platform proxies around. Technically, all what could help here is one or a few parameter for the tracks to set up the broadth or dimensions of the generated platform edge in the Offset Loft tool submode. Maybe this would be a good thing to implement in an update for the Editor. Hmmm... I am trying to look for a way to transform this particular platform proxy to make it fit too my needs within the Editor before I guess tough. If I'll find one way, I will post it here. Thank you again, Fabian!
