During a scenario on Vorarlberg, I noticed this poster at many of the stations: I already thought this station seemed kind of familiar to me, and a quick Google search confirmed my suspicions: It is indeed the modernized Salzburg Hauptbahnhof station! Now, I don’t know about you, but this seems like a sneaky tease for the next Austrian route to me! It actually could also be one of the upcoming German routes as Lukas confirmed one of them would have an Austrian terminus at Gamescom. Salzburg is very close to the German border, so it would perfectly fit the bill. But there are also lots of lines going deep into the Austrian Alps from there. Either way, I‘m assuming Salzburg will make its way into TSW sooner than later! Edit: I‘m unable to get an exact match for the image using the Google image search, so perhaps it’s even an internal picture from one of DTG’s scouting trips? Who knows!
this has been mentioned several times before and so far people believe it's rather not a tease for the next austrian route including that station. idk though
Would love the Mittenwald route in tsw glory. Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Innsbruck is about the distance the typical route has been. Its a border route and could have multiple layers. The talent 1 would fit nicely, Vectron and BR185 freight should be within realism.
Don’t be so negative! They could’ve used any sort of stock picture for that poster. I personally still think Salzburg is definitely part of their plans for the future and they decided to give us a cheeky little hint. They’ve done it before… only a few days ago did I notice that one of the LIDAR images from the May roadmap appears to be showing Bregenz from the Vorarlberg route!
I don’t think so. Believe what you want but I don’t wanna get my hopes up with potential in-route teasers for future content, I’d be waiting months for the announcement only for it to never come. I’d only believe a tease if someone like JD accidentally on purpose leaked something like the 642.
That would mean something like this Schnellfahrstrecke Salzburg Linz ÖBB Westbahn. Freight trains run between Linz Verschiebebahnhof Salzburg Gnigl
The semmering railway would be a cool addition to tsw4,I had it in the days of msts on my computer, was a really good representation of the route,if done properly could also be on here.
That's itself was a train simulator Classic route although another version of it from the same game has it go all the way to Marburg am Drau via Spielfeld Straß basically the old KkStb Südbahn.
It actually went even further linking to HMA at München Pasing or München Hackerbrücke. Basically you can run Munich to Innsbruck Hbf
I know, the Garmin-München route was one of my favourite German routes in TSC. Especially the southern part. Since the rumour was decribing a border route, I tried to be slightly realistic in what you could expect
I don't care much about the poster itself (although it could be a leak indeed), but this info what most people here just missed, is a killer for me: So looking at the roadmap for TSW4: and as we already know the next german DLC (in the measurement of 1 to 3 months) will be the Maintalbahn from Aschaffenburg to Miltenberg, which definitely does not end anywhere near the austrian border, can we expect that one of the other two routes for TSW4 coming in 2024 will start in Bavaria? Or was he just referring to the new Vorarlberg route, which in fact starts in Germany and ends in Austria, at the moment of the Gamescom end of August this year when he said that to announce the new TSW4 route?
As things turned out you were absolutely right! This was a teaser! And you had found it! The new upcoming german route is Rosenheim to Salzburg:
No Railjet/Nightjet which runs here alongside the DB Baureihe 111. That route needs 1293 1016/1116 and 1216 the fastest loco in the world
Amazing! I think we all knew a route involving Salzburg was likely, and it turns out the poster on Vorarlberg wasn’t a coincidence after all
Freight? Highly unrealistic. Freight northbound from Innsbruck runs via Kufstein and Rosenheim (the main line); only routed via Mittenwald and Garmisch in a pinch. The Mittenwaldbahn is essentially a local passenger + tourist line; too twisty and slow for through traffic.
There are several very unique old Bahnhof buildings on this line ; I hope DTG puts the effort into bespoke assets like TSG did on Niddertalbahn.
We're getting spoiled now with these cross-border routes. Although, I suppose this is more likely just a German route that cuts into Austria. Exciting, nonetheless.
Yup, would make sense since it’s 90% in Germany. The Salzburg area is bound to be really cool though, with multiple smaller stations leading up to the big one. I live just 2 hours away from that area and we go there multiple times per year - both to Salzburg city and the Chiemsee, which is my favorite lake in all of Germany. The scenery around the Chiemsee is absolutely breathtaking, I sure hope they do a good job replicating it. There are also multiple small branches all over the route, like the Chiemgaubahn, which incidentally seems to use the BR 628 which is already in the game!
The funny thing is that although I wasn't so convinced about your poster speculation itself, what you said about what Lucas said at the Gamesom about a route with austrian terminus and my guess about a route which starts in Bavaria and ends in Austria, was also true. Ahh, I bother myself now with the thought why on earth I didn't I came to the conclusion that both of our assumptions could e true and didn't just looked up the fitting routes from Bavaria to Salzburg. I guess we both could have solved the mystery way before it was teased now. Damn.
I agree with you and they should have simply extended it to a humpyard Salzburg Gnigl with an ÖBB Baureihe 1163 Shunter. Since freight trains in Salzburg do not end at the main station instead they keep going towards the Hump Yard. Where 4024 stops on the S-Bahn Platforms and devs need ÖBB Infra permission to actually measure out the hump yard
