I have checked and double checked and the timetable is definitely not working properly. withe regards to freight workings showing up when spawning on foot. I Entered the timetable on foot at Leicester at 1.35. Freight working 6M93 is due to leave Leicester at 1.39 but it never appears. Next I enter timetable via the class 66 and select 6M93 as my train and I appear in the cab at Leicester without any problem. I then enter timetable on foot at Derby station at 1.00 Freight working 6E68 is due to leave Derby at 1.05 But once again the freight working fails to appear. so I then enter timetable via the class 66 and select 6E68 as my train and once more I am placed in the cab ready to start with no problem. All this was done on PC steam version with no mods installed. Freight workings are simply not showing up when spawning into the simulation timetable on foot. This kind of ruins any hopes I may have had for some trainspotting activities. Can this problem please be looked at and if possible resolved? It would also be great if someone could confirm my findings so that I know its not just me!
Snap !!! I did the same thing last night, with the same services. I can confirm that the freight services do not appear when you spawn on foot. Mike.
No, the examples I looked at are not seasonal. Besides all tests were carried out on the same date. on foot the trains don't appear but spawning in via the class 66 works OK
Have just tested this myself using the same service as you and spawn time and can confirm the same no freight service
Hi Everyone, Thanks for the feedback on this. With the help of others, our current belief is that because the simulation of the timetable for MML starts at 4am and runs for 24 hours, anything between midnight and 3:59am is occurring on day 2. When selecting a spawn time in the UI TSW is placing you in the route on 'day 1'. If you spawn at 23:55 and wait, the services missing in the midnight to 4am window do appear because you have physically crossed into day 2. This situation affects the following from the 381 drivable services in the timetable, if you spawn on foot expecting to see them arrive: 5D81 @ 00:30am / 00:51am 6E68 @ 01:05am 6M93 @ 01.39am 6F46 @ 01:47am 5F87 @ 02:38am 6C76 @ 03:22am
Aside from the issue above, is anyone else finding certain 2+6 HST services in TT mode spawning you with no train to drive? It’s happened at least 3 times today although I admit I didn’t make a note of which head-codes had the problem. I’ll start making a note going forward.
If it's spawning you out on the platform, that means the Simulation time is later than the the starting time. Had to fix a lot of that in my own timetable lol. They'll definitely need the Service Name/Start Time to be able to fix that.
I had two spawn on the platform but one service (which was an end to end passenger service) spawned me on foot by the side of the line into the power station!
Yeeeep, took me a couple of hours to workout the cause in my timetable lol. I check every service after simulation now.
I had this also with a few class 158 services. I spawned on a random platform with no train but not sure which headcodes did this yet. I'll make notes when I'm next on TSW4.
Thanks for the explanation Adam. I would never have guessed that the timetable would have a start time of 04.00. I will try and check this out later tonight when I get the chance. Just out of curiosity, would you happen to know the reasoning behind the decision to start the timetable at 04.00 rather than the more obvious choice of 00.00?
You're more likely to have services crossing over past midnight, than starting at 2-3am most of the time. Would be my guess. I started mine at 4am for the same reason.
What happens when a service crosses over past midnight then? Reminds me of when I was a freight guard with BR ,we used to have a shift on my link that started at 23.55 every night except on Sunday night when it used to start at 00.02. This was purely to make sure we weren't paid the Sunday rate for that shift which we would have been if it had actually started at the usual time. By starting at 00.02 on the Sunday night, it was technically a Saturday shift so was paid accordingly.
Crossing over past midnight doesn't break anything/cause weirdness, as long as the timetable doesn't start at exactly midnight. It can cause some weird stuff with the simulation, and things not being in the right place at the right time. I think the older versions of the timetable used to cause issues going past midnight though, its why some routes like Scotrail Express are missing their later services if I remember correctly.
OK I spawned in at Leicester and waited for 6M93 to appear and all is well as the train pulled into the station at 1.32. While I was waiting for the train to appear I checked the route map up at Derby just before 1.05 and sure enough, 6E68 showed up and left Derby right on 1.05 so all is well with the freight trains showing up after all. Thanks to mldaureol2 and 390001 for taking the time to help out and confirm my initial findings and also a big thanks to Adam for explaining what was actually happening. This had been bugging me for months! I will now change the title of this thread to add the word resolved.Sorry for assuming things were broken.
