I'm gonna start off by saying that the GOBLIN, while being a very short route, is actually a decent start to London Overground, as it is building the foundation of Future Overground Routes to be included in TSW such as The North London Line, this route is also interesting as we are finally getting the first Aventra In TSW, The Class 710, this route will probably also have a really packed timetable similar to that of Bakerloo, speaking of bakerloo, there is also the opportunity to layer the class 710 on, for services between Queens Park And Harrow And Wealdstone, with the addition of AI at Willesden Junction. So in terms of route choice, short but it's a good start. Anyways, the GOBLIN is a major line for freight around London, there are quite a lot of freight services on this route, a majority of which are operated by Freightliner. So, I don't see why they wouldn't include the class 66 in this route as well? unless there is some sort of licensing issue with Freightliner, which, as far as I know, hasn't been addressed. The Addition Of a Freightliner 66 Would Add Lots Of Freight on the Already Probably Busy GOBLIN route, and could layer onto other UK Routes for added variety Thanks For Viewing
Unfortunately layers for the 710 on BKL are NOT happening as has been confirmed already unless I'm mistaken. As for the idea if this route doesn't have freight I think someone needs to get checked....
Adam from skyhook mentioned in another thread that freightliner is still not giving permission. Dtg tried for many years, but the toc has not allowed it. Same with gbrf.
If we get Freightliner on the Goblin Route, we should get a GE-built Class 70 instead of the Class 66.
I meant the 710 not layering on Bakerloo Line, I can’t see how this can be confirmed when the route hasn’t even been officially announced yet.
Could use a Class 60 with the TEA Tankers on the Puma to Harwich Tanks. I know it is DB Cargo but it would fill the gap.
I mean I don't work with DTG so I have no idea why. I'm guessing just lack of motivation unless there is an actual proper reasons.
I mean in general yes. But in terms of BKL given the timetable is 2022? (It might be 2021) that seems era correct to have a 710
Bakerloo is 2021 I believe. But even then, the 710s have been on the Goblin Line since 2019, so they should be present on Bakerloo.
Oh absolutely. But the question isn't should it, its will it. And the awnser to that unfortunately is most likely not. We will see though
The issue is from what I understand it's extremely difficult to retroactively add layers onto a route (One of the reasons the 142 hasn't been added to TVL). Also if you look at the map for Bakerloo, there is no railway line on it for the section the 710 would spawn at Queen's Park.
It's not that simple because it requires modifications to the timetable if it doesn't have space. Really old routes probably weren't built with future layers in mind so to add services, you would have to remake the tt. Even if there is space, it still takes time to create the services and run the simulation. They also need timetable devs to work on it
They've done that before but you still need developers, time and resources. Something we want but not something that can always be done.
Adding in layers for something small isn't that hard. Especially something like adding a train that is AI only on a non drivable part of the track. Now if it is going to be player drivable on the main track? That is a lot of work yes. The 142 onto TVL would require the substitution keywords changed on the 101 services. Or for it to be rebuilt which is what I did for my TT.
With Freightliner and GBRF being off limits (CC excepted), the only option here is to use the DB/EWS locomotives like the Class 66 or maybe a Class 90 perhaps. Not ideal and the 66 is nothing new and my Class 60 suggestion would only be fit for the oddball tanker duties. But that said, it would be nice to see a new locomotive with something like a Class 70 if Colas would oblige on allowing use of their brand in TSW. With GBRF and Freightliner saying no, there is not much we can do about it unless debranded liveries are used and a Freeware branding patch is possible? Lots of faffing about adding them, I know but at least we would kind of get what we want in the end.
Skyhook's future Cargo Line DLCs could add layers onto routes such as the Goblin line, so even if we don't get many or any freight services to begin with, we could see something added later on. It would be good to see some sort of freight layer added using existing stock at the minimum though, as being stuck on a route with only one train type to pick from does get boring quickly.
We seem to be putting a lot of focus already for a DLC for a route that hasn't even been officially announced yet.
Idk whether this has already been said or not I've only read the first few messages up to here but on discord Alex told us that maybe If after a few routes get the west somerset treatment he would possibly have a crack at the bakerloo and although the 710 wouldn't be on it at the start when he redevelops it that will be high on the list for the redevelopment
That would be great, hopefully things like the train clipping the platform at stations and the annoying adhesion bug in tunnels will be fixed.
no one has confirmed it has not going to happen and i cant blame them for not putting freight on but maybe they will when they properly announce they route so im gonna withrdraw what i jus said now But honestly speaking Im not a huge fan of freight no im not rlly wanting this to come much..
TBH it is not going to be the busiest time table and interest wise for the route itself. A 15 minute service with a 40 minute run time is not going to be the most exciting timetable ever. It will be nothing like the bakerloo with its varied average 3 min service during the day with a mix of Harrow/Stonebridge/ queens park services.
is it local to u? cos me it is and i like short sweet and self contained routes that take less 20-40 mins max
You may like them routes others dont that is the beauty of the sim it is not catered to one it caters to all.
