I need to drive the Class 33 for 330 miles and complete 100 services on Southeastern for a couple of trophies. So I figured I could run the Class 33 on a Southeastern timetable, specifically 1Z1B The Medway Valley Crompton. However, the Class 33 refuses to move when throttle is applied. I've Google searched and searched on this forum, and it seems that there is an issue with the brake settings when starting out with the Class 33 on Southeastern. My own experience suggests the lead loco isn't controlling the rear loco's brakes. In fact, if I uncouple the rear loco, I'm off and running as soon as I apply throttle in the lead (but, obviously, I'm leaving the rear loco behind).. All the suggested solutions that I've read seem to expect the two locos to be coupled directly, but in this case, they are at opposite ends of a fairly long set of carriages. I'd be very grateful if someone can tell me what I need to do to setup the brakes, so the lead releases the rear loco's brakes.
Hi, if I remember correctly, you have to go into the rear cab of the rear loco, release the brakes fully then re- apply them into shutdown.
I've been completing the other Class 33 timetables on SHS before coming back to this, so I've not been paying attention to the forum until just now, after I discovered this very thing myself. I could have saved myself some time if I'd read this earlier, but thanks for your reply anyway.
