Hi dose any one know where best place get UK terrain data from as most videos tutorial are for Germany or other county
A quick Google search found this. You want the DTM (not DSM as that includes buildings and trees) and the data does seem to have good quality at first glance. https://environment.data.gov.uk/survey
ive been trying to reproject the lidar data at took about 4 hours to get to 7% and said there was still 2900+ hours reaminaing and kept going up. also when i merge the lidar the black boxes that fill in the box area is like 10x bigger than the lidar area (surley thats not normal as the tutorial video it only boxes equally around the lidar). ive been stuck on the lidar reproject for like 2 weeks and no one else seems to have this issue maybe im using the wrong EPSG (EPSG:27700) for the UK, Do you know what the correct one is if thats not it
The black area seems very arbitrary. Are you sure there isn't some invisible layer in the bottom-left corner that you are merging in? Also set the "nodata" value of the output to -9999 so you don't get these black areas.
I dont believe theres an invisible layer all the lidar was visible and acounted for correctly. i managed to get rid of the black boxes but when reprojecting it still took 2 hours 20 minutes and it still hadnt even started so ive gave up with this timing BS. i still dont knwo what im doing wrong. what EPSG's do you use maybe this is is whats causing the insane time of days to reproject
The target SRS for reprojection should be EPSG:3857 (Pseudo-Mercator) and the output resolution should be set to 1. That's about all I can think of.
I was using the EPSG:3857 and output resolution 1.0, at this rate id pay someone to build or help me build the route becuase this is insane i follow a tutorial and your the only one whos tryed to help on these forums and i still have no idea why it dont work. Is there anything obvious im missing (if i dont have the turorial never said i needed it) and im new to this so ive not a clue, just trying to learn it. im also getting a Free Disk Space Error when i try to reproject now, i had this before but it was just me using the wrong EPGS so i dont know why its happening again now becuase im using the same ones that i used to fix it
Ok I think got something. Did you just drag all of the content from the zip files and clear the errors? Because when I tried to do that, it imported two things. One was at the correct location and the other one was pretty far away. When you try next time, be sure to only import the .tif files and leave the rest.
oh my god your a damn hero, it was the .tif.ovr files i did the .tif only and its worked 1st try and took like 2 minutes intead of 4000. now onto the next step in the editor where il get stuck but dw i want be here annoying you more. but man thank you so much for the help youve been the only one and ive tried on other forum pages and just nothing so im hella grateful. ok 1 last thing and call me stupid but the reprojected .tif files dont save to the same place as the .hgt and when i go to the file it saves an a pic file not multiple .tif files
yh at least its solved now though. i reprojected it but for some reason the .tif files dont go to the same file as the .hgt file they go to a different folder but as 1 file and not numerous OUTPUT.tif files so now ive got to figure that out torrow
When I user the SRTM downloader it wont download the tiles and I get this triangle waring don't know what I did wrong and is there away to fix it
About downloading SRTM, I never used the downloader. I just got whole tiles from this website and imported them straight into UE4. https://dwtkns.com/srtm30m/ As for tiling the final result, you have to check the "Create VRT" checkbox while exporting so that it splits the result into tiles. Then you can specify the maximum tile size. It won't hurt to save the result as one file as well though in case something went wrong during the tiling.
ok unfortanetly im back. i havent changed anything since yesterday but now i get this trying tio merge
I can see that there's a lot of "Operation not Allowed in Define Mode" errors. So maybe try again to see if you haven't accidentally clicked something?
