I am trying to make my first timetable following the exact steps in the youtube video
Train Sim World 4: PC Editor (Beta) Masterclass - Service Mode and Timetables
The only difference is that I am using the Peterborough - Doncaster route rather than Brighton.
After choosing the route the compile timetable button remains greyed out. When I hover over it I get a message "Dirty needs to be recompiled".
I am therefore not able to progress further. Can anyone advise what I should do please?
I'm new to PC editor so apologies if I'm missing something obvious.

Sounds like maybe you don't have the route itself open?

Thanks for the response but the route is open and this makes no difference. I do see a comment from another member on the youtube video saying compiling is not working since the winter update.
I think I will still continue to work through the timetable build and hope it still works. The message I get when I try to save the work says

Timetable is out of date and must be compiled. Failure to do so may result in build failure!

I will have to hope it doesn't result in build failure

Funnily enough I started to try and teach myself Timetable Building yesterday. At one point I did end up with the "Dirty" error message but, as I had started really small, I just deleted the file and started again. (I am just practising on IOW trying to make a 20 or 15 minute interval service). I, too, am following the video and, for a long time, got stuck at the Console Command section. But I think I am sorted now.

However I can confirm that compiling is working (Well it was for me last night) and, as things stand at the moment I have 4 units shuttling about between Ryde and Shanklin. Am now trying to tidy up the services before then copying and pasting across a longer day.

I, too, wonder if you have got the route window open correctly and on display. If not then start again, you will at least have now learned some new skills, and do a small timetable (maybe only between 2 stations on ECML) and get that working first?

I have started again but still have the problem. In the video the compile timetable button stops being greyed out and the ? turns orange when the route is selected but this does not happen for me.

I think I have the route window open correctly but as two responses have mentioned this is there anywhere in the manual etc that shows exactly how this should be done?

Have you set up the settings under "timetable defaults" correctly? You will need to tell the timetable what route it is for - if opening the map doesn't do anything for you I think that's most likely what's missing.

Thanks for the responses. You were right. I managed to watch some more videos on the correct way to open the map and it is now working.

Glad to hear you're back on track again

Mine's now gone wrong. Yesterday I had 5 trains running up and down the IOW line (for 2 hours before they all got in each other's way). But, today, the very first train won't complete the very first load/unload !!! No idea why

So I've gone from 2 hours to 2 minutes overnight. Hope you have better luck :)
