Who wants to say that, like the competition itself, that post, quoted in another above, was highly likely not said in a way to target or offend anyone, just rather accurately predicting the future. From my point of view the best route in TSW has won and that's that. I feel we just need to shake hands and move on, as hilarious as I am finding particular individuals responses, because otherwise I can see mods with padlocks coming round the corner.

Again just to be clear there is NO bullying as has been suggested by an individual above, but just people disagreeing over a point which in itself were empty as the centre of a loo roll.

You took a thread/vote made for fun purposes only and you blew it way out of proportion and just because you've been called out on that, you now seem to think we're all a bunch of bullying little kids.

If you really think you're better then everyone else here then do yourself a favour, except that you have got this wrong and move on.

It's hilarious to me that he is telling us how pointless it is - while that's the literal point.
He's so close to getting it.

I don't think anyone is actually contributing to this thread in a helpful way.

It's a bit of fun, end of. Does it really matter that someone found the seriousness in this?

It matters that they decided to try and argue their point continuously, and then decided to pull the "bullying" card when he realised it was going nowhere.

And, there was no seriousness to find. He made it up and tried to shove it down our throats.

It matters because I can see this as yet another thing on these forums that turns toxic for no reason. No one had to engage with him, yet they did, and he perceives that as antagonistic.

And just because there was no seriousness in this, does not mean someone wouldn't or is not allowed to see it.

It was his continued arguement and then attempts to pull the "bullying" card because people got fed up with him.

I repeatedly broke down his "criticisms". He never replied to those parts. Funny, that.

Like I said, no one had to engage with him and could have simply ignored him if it bothered them that much.

At the end of the day, he interpreted it different from everyone else which is perfectly OK.

Even to look at this thread very seriously I still don’t see anything up or controversial/contested.

DTG aren’t going to make thread like this when it could highlight themselves or 3rd parties negatives officially. If they did they wouldn’t just be asking for the best route as that question looks to find ones that can easily be ruled out (the negatives)

I find it sad that someone associates something being done just for fun as silly, there is enough seriousness in everyone's daily lives, playing Train Sim World is a hobby to be enjoyed, fun polls like this add to the enjoyment.

Thinking about whether this poll should have been run by DTG rather than someone from the community, a couple of months ago DTG posted a poll asking which activities people regarded as 'completing' the route, there was uproar in the thread from people worried that anything with low votes might be dropped from future development, I dread to think how people would have panicked if DTG had asked them to vote for their favourite route.

seems like a valid worry tbh, DTG can be a bit overly data active in my view. They do seem to take that and apply the business narrative over the enthusiast more.

Sure probably works well/alright for them, just not particularly in a customers interest for at least some areas.

Yeah DTG’s data basically killed BR content for TSW (the irony of the poll result here right?) if JT followed that data we wouldn’t of gotten BPO, if simtrack followed it we’d have a barren peak forest for the foreseeable.

DTG’s data is contributing to content fatigue too, all of their DLC is constantly following the same format of traction and route type.

Again, works for them on a large scale, but it’s certainly alienating customers.

    It's a valid point, yes.
Dovetail could use this to see what's most popular (it's very clear that Blackpool, Southeastern and the three Rush Hour routes are, based on the votes in Round One), but I think the issue with the point raised was more that this, therefore, should be taken seriously.

If anything this would be an indicator to Dovetail (I'm sure the reception to Blackpool and continued praise of Southeastern / Rush Hour routes showed them the same anyway).

Because it wasn't one poll of every single route, it can't be used as a data set in the same way as a survey would.

Yes, this is a problem - DTG releases DLCs in "batches". Look at UK - multiple 80s DLCs, people called for modern. So we got drowned in Southern 3rd rail. Now it's OHLE time, with all DTG content being overhead electric, mostly stopping commuter routes. No 3rd rail, no diesel apart from endlessly reusing the 66. Peak Forest was an exception to the rule.
In TSW2 era, it was high-speed all the way.
And after BPO, I predict we will get a wave of historic content with no modern routes or trains.

I mean, if DTG see this and think 'we should make more routes like SEHS, Dresden and Blackpool' then I'm not going to be complaining (for once).

(Another small note from my side to everyone on this thread - I would recommend making much more use of your ignore list. I do it quite freely and it massively improves my experience on these forums. I would suggest this is a better and cleaner way of dealing with a disagreement rather than feeling the need to reply to every single post, which means that I'm then tempted to put both sides of an argument on my ignore list so I don't have to see the returning discourse even if I actually agree. Not every argument is worth having!)

A bit reminiscent of Hollywood, so stuck in their metrics they just keep churning out what worked before, without appreciating that audiences are getting sick and tired of the same old stuff. Just look at Marvel's recent box office disasters- superheroes are getting really stale.

Get a grip… it was completed for a lark, tongue in cheek… we are allowed to have fun without someone coming in throw ice water on it all. Dovetail has plenty of other resources for research over this rather skewed population who frequent this forum… .

DTG don't need polls. TSW's telemetry is phoning home, they know exactly which route is being driven the most.

And, as stated by Alex in the stream, 83% of player communication is done via Discord. The forums are a relict of the past.

    Good morning, everyone.

I appreciate seeing our community come together and have some fun, especially if it is well presented and organized. Congratulations to the winner!
However, I don't appreciate the amount of unnecessary bickering and fighting about essentially nothing. As a result, I have closed this thread and will take actions against the worst offenders in here.

I'm using the plural because there are always two sides to an argument. Instead of egging each other on, it would have been much more in the holiday spirit to let grudges go.
In the future, I hope that you'll be able to disengage instead of fighting tooth and nail. Life is too short to win arguments on the internet.

Also, I personally would have voted for Vorarlberg, but I might have a strong bias towards Austrian content and the Alps in general.

    All the best,
    Jan
