No matter what, even when using the available formations in-game, the Steuerwagen doesn't work at all, making it basically useless unless you are in the loco. Does anyone know a fix?
I'm not sure the Vectron is capable to be controlled by a cab car in real life. It's not what this loco is used for.
Why did they add selectable formations then though? Makes no sense if that's the case. Especially when the cab car isn't even able to control the Vectron.
It seems the Vectron may only be controlled by an ETCS-capable cab car. So they are set up as sandwich trains IRL. See at 2:30
it's not a etcs the problem the vectron have not tge system for working with doppelstockwagen pilot coach and ic pilot coach one of the best example is the IRE200 or RE with vectron railpool
Whaaat? TWO Vectrons, you should love that! The mighty Vectron shall not be a slave to the Steuerwagen
But there are videos with Vectron on the rear end and controlled by Cabcar. Like this one https://youtube.com/clip/Ugkxp1HIpGO9ntHATiANqMHUXvw82hkztGNn?si=RAJxC_sXBYRvjF-H
oh yeah I've seen those in Frankfurt they're however possibly "special" series for passenger operations with information displays as seen there. we unfortunately don't have that in TSW
You guys have to keep in mind that Vectron is not equal vectron. There are sooo many different variants of the loco. The TSW 4 Vectron is only one of it. I'm sure some Vectrons can be controlled by a cab car, others cannot. There are surley technical reasons behind that.
Each cab car must be constructed for the loco it controls. The E10 has a N28h Schaltwerk, which is controlled completely different to an AFB-like driven 143 or 112 for example. And there's Dostos for use with Diesel locos that cannot control an electric loco, as the data transmitted through the cable must be different.
Thank you all for the answers! I just wonder why DTG didn't just create a sandwich formation instead.
The cab car needs to be there because it has a wheelchair ramp, accessible toilet, and space for bicycles.
Some 143s had KWS and could therefore be operated from "Karlsruher Kopf" n-Wagen cab cars using the exact same notch up/down controls as on a 110. Germany has a standards (most notably KWS, ZWS, WTB-ÖBB) for working with a cab car, and it is generally not necessary to specially adapt cab cars and locos to one another. There are Vectrons with ZWS – I don't know if the ones used on the RE200 services haven't got it or if there's some other weird issue going on.
No, the Vectrons from ELL are all ZWS equipped. The only reason why they are in a sandwich is that the IC1 cab car (which is used in the RE200 consist) is not ETCS equipped.
actually, a Vectron control cab has only been developed recently, for use in new generation of Rail/NightJets and I believe also ČD got it for ComfortJets, which is pretty much Rail/NightJet with ČD livery (dunno if it is "classic 200 Vectron" or the newly approved Vectron 230):
