    Good afternoon all,

I am having trouble getting the speed control system working on the RHB Ge4/4 included with the Albula Line and also I have most of the RHB Enhancement packs and have the same issue with the one locomotive I tested from those packs. It did work for one scenario once, but reverted back to not working again when I run the same scenario the next day. So it is capable of working but I do not know if this is happening because of an issue with my TS Classic installation or if I am operating the locomotive incorrectly or I am missing something that I have to do something else to engage the speed control, it would not be the first time :)

The issue is that the GE4/4 seem to just want to run in the linear power override mode and not speed control mode. Changing the driver mode switch and the vacuum pump mode switch does not seem to have any effect on the operation of the locomotives.

Searching the internet and this forum with no results seem to indicate that this not not a common problem.

So I just wanted to ask everyone if anyone has had a similar issue before I submit a support ticket with speed control system on the Thompson RHB sotck? I have followed the instructions in the Albula Line manual and the RHB Enhancement Pack 2 manual. According to the manuals I should just set the driving mode and / or the vacuum switch and it should just work.

Although I have a lot of add-ons and enhancements installed, The Albula line and stock is unmodified, other than to extract the RailVehicles folder from the AP files, but I do run RW Enhancer (tested with RW Enhancer running and not running, RW Enhancer was running the one time speed control did work for me).

    Thanks in anticipation.

** Update - The stock for the Albula line is not extracted as I just bought the line a few days ago but had this issue on the Arosa Line also

So to update I have been driving the Albula route and the RHB Ge4/4 a bit more now. Apparently for me for what ever reason, the automatic speed control does not work every time. If it does not work, I can exit the scenario and reload, and then usually but not always speed control is now working and once working, works fine for the rest of the scenario. It at least works enough that I can enjoy the drive albeit I may need to reload the scenario once or twice. It could still be the way I am starting the loco but I suspect some issue is causing the loco script to not run properly. It could also just be this scenario, the "summer ascent". Speed control seems to work OK everytime in the Loco Tutorial scenario. I also swapped my keyboard in case my mechanical gaming keyboard was at fault - it can be a sensitive beast and easy to cause multi keypress. But still it happened on the bog standard keyboard.

If I get to the bottom of it I will report back, but at least the solution just now is to reload the scenario until it works.

The Speed control works going uphill because the loco is powering but downhill you need to apply brakes and no rely on the automatic system

In real life these train have no such controls and the Drivers have to Drive the trains.

Hi 749006 thanks for your reply, yes when I could get autospeed controls working this is how the loco behaved.

To update the thread I have now figured out what I was doing wrong and how the Thompson Swiss loco speed control works with the keyboard in advanced control mode.

Possibly a small bug in the controls right at the start of a scenario as I believe the speed control should not operate and only do so when driving mode switch to set the correct position.

After releasing the brakes, with the driving control wheel set at zero or lower (between the brehmzen and fahren zones), clicking to the first notch and no more makes the loco run in manual power/control mode mode. The loco is then stuck in manual mode and it can not be persuaded to go into auto speed control mode.

Too get the loco to run in auto spreed control mode and I can now get the loco to run reliably in this mode by doing this, I have to depress the increase power button so that the driver control wheel turns for more than one notch. So what I do now when applying power to the loco right at the start of a scenario, i depress the key until the driver control wheel is set to 30% or 30kph then release. If my initial speed limit is below 30kph I then quickly decrease power to the desired lower speed limit before the loco exceeds it.

The problem I was having was due to me controlling this loco the same way I would a notched diesel loco such as in American locos or say the class 47 where the controllers are notched. So when I drive these I notch up slowly one notch at a time.

Hope this helps someone else in the future. I am certain it is a small bug or "anomaly" the first time you try to move the loco. Since once I get the speed control working properly, it works perfectly from then on. I can not reproduce going into manual power control mode when I pull away from the next stop, I move from neutral to 10kph and it work fine -you increase speed to 10kph and then stops. All good
