I wanted to reach out to the TSW community to get some insights before making a purchase decision. My 4-year-old son has a profound love for trains, and it brings him immense joy. I've been considering buying TSW3 for PS5, as I've heard MyGreatLakes it's a fantastic simulation game with a lot of detail. I'd greatly appreciate any insights or recommendations?

This game does has a learning curve for the uninitiated. The tutorials do a good job of guiding new players through the basics but much of the advanced topics like signals, safety systems are not always explained well. Dovetail do regular live streams of the game showing off new content and improvements and you can check out the game in action on their YouTube channel under the live section. Note that almost all gameplay featured there is from PC, but the experience on PS5 is similar to that of PC.

In recent years there has been a push in TSW towards accessibility and one of those areas is in the driver assists. It can tell you when something is wrong with how you're operating the train, like trying to accelerate while your doors are open, but it's still up to you to fix it. It can automatically couple and switch junctions for you as well. All these are options that can be enabled or disabled. There are also symbols within signal aspects so that people with colour blindness can tell the signal aspect colours apart.

If your son has a physical disability making using a controller difficult, Playstation have the Access controller which acts like a normal Playstation controller but offers a lot of customization to make it easier to hit all the buttons.
