I'm not talking about rail traffic(that's another issue) but ground workers. It seems like there are too few of them, most railyards simply have none. I know that real life railyards are not extremely crowded places either, but when you look at shunting videos in Germany for example, you see there are some guys in high visibility vests walking around the tracks. Even in the US with buckeye autocouplers, someone still has to connect the brake hoses. And it's not just that but also there would be people inspecting the railcars themselves, tracks, or doing small maintenance. This is actually most apparent in the Oakville subdivision imo. Despite being an industrial area it's a ghost town.
The whole of TSW is lifeless. There are pretty much zero people walking around, very few track workers or hostlers in train yards or trackside. And it's not as if DTG and partners don't know how to do NPC's outside of stations. Way back in Sand Patch, there were a few people on the streets and other parts of the route.
I totally agree with that a lot of the yards & sidings do look rather empty both lack Services & A I. Great Western being the worse out the UK routes with South-hall yard West Eailng & Acton Aggregate Yard all Exploitable on foot but total life-less with no services or AI
Yep, yards and city streets are all too empty and lifeless. Also barely any animated scenery. Even though the technology is there, as mentioned above, we had people walking on the streets (though only a very few) way back on SPG. Yards could obviously use a few track workers roaming around and such. But so could streets use some people, even if just stationary and less detailed, especially street running sections like on Arosalinie or tracks going by busy streets, like on Harlem Line. More animated scenery would also be nice, like the animated forklift asset from TSC or the wind turbines used on several TSW routes. We have things like animated crossing gates and animated draw bridges, but you can't even see those most of the time, ss they will be already finished moving by the time you get to them. So the scenery around you is always completely still.
