In terms of the Routes bundled in with it, probably TSW4.
TSW2020 has one DLC lost now
TSW2 is meh, SKA (w/o 423) and BKL (pre-update) are awful timetable wise, the latter is quite poor in terms of the route itself, SPG isn't my taste.
TSW3 was decent, KWG is simply *yawn*, SEHS is a remaster (which I and many owned and would have recieved the remaster of had we skipped straight to TSW4, anyway) and CJP is not for me either.
TSW4, however, is fun for me. Antelope is a long slog but still, American 'Regional' Rail. ECML is a bit boring but better than KWG and, dare I say it, Köln, and Vorarlberg wins points for bringing something new. TSW4 launching with two extra locos in the Deluxe Edition wins mucho bonus points.

In terms of features - TSW4 by a mile.
TSW2020 promised the editor; TSW4 delivered it.
TSW2 brought Livery Designer and Scenario Planner; TSW4 improved on them.
TSW3 had 'dynamic' weather, TOD4 and *checks notes* the new Menu; TSW4 improved on the latter and retains the others.
TSW4 brought loads to the table. In realty, TSW4 is what TSW3, realistically, should have been.

I believe the routes are by far the greatest in TSW2 but that is my personal opinion

Just coming back to this thread after reading some replies after mine, I think I will expand a tad more. As I say features wise TSW2 were the one which caught my attention most but the routes were really poor, TSW2020 were a solid enough game but no standout features but did bring NTP which remains in my top 3 favourites. TSW3 came with a rehashed and rebranded SEHS as the route which were nearly as disappointing as TSW2's Bakerloo and very few different features, I think it were the lighting and dynamic weather weren't it and then TSW4 has a much more decent amount of features (LD 2.0, SP, 2.0 etc) and the ECML route which is in my top three too.

Edit: add the PC editor to TSW4's pile too.

Going based of features TSW2 wins.
Going based off routes TSW2020 & TSW4 tie.
Going on the overall package TSW4 wins.

For me, TSW2020 was my favourite release if looking at the included content. Sand Patch, LIRR and MSB were quite fun routes for when they released, but let's be honest, nothing can compete with an editor( if it could pack officially ;) ) such as in TSW 4, but I think if we exclude the Editor, TSW 3 brought some good features. However, Rush Hour was amazing too.

    Personally I think its meh.

    -Poor brake setup
    -Meh scenery
    -Missing Track 3
-No addition DLC for it aside from the abysmal Heritage Pack
-SD70ACe is missing FRA reflective striping.
-No BNSF AI added after Cajon released for their trackage in Cheyenne.

Exactly. It brought us such impressive routes like SMH, HSC, CCS, CRR, SKA and SEH. No other TSW franchise brought us more.

To be fair, more doesn't always mean better.

I'm going to say TSW 4 simply because its the current version, and its currently still being worked on by DTG and with the introduction of Just Trains into the mix it adds much more, cant wait to see what the future brings.

Do you have any idea of what the future holds for this game? I bought the game two day ago and I have quite enjoyed it. I am disappointed with the routes but I am excited for the upcoming Goblin line which I will buy as soon as it comes out. The LNER is disappointing as there is only five stops and I believe DTG need to repay us with good routes in the future. I am going to try the S- Bahn today eventhough I am only interested in London routes.

Fewer too. :) And for american freight and high-speed lovers TSW2 had the the biggest offer.

That is one of the routes positives: it brings proper intercity driving to the game, something which had been missing up to it's release.

To each his own. I think it's fantastic. The scenery? It's Wyoming. There is no scenery. You should've known that before you purchased the route.

For me it was TSW2 just due to the sheer amount of content released for it (some of which had been improved upon in subsequent releases of course). Clinchfield, SEHS, Bakerloo, BML, Munich-Augsberg, Reisa-Dresden were all great routes and then some fantastic loco DLC: Class 465, BR101 & Class 313 were standouts.

I like all northamerican mainline freight locos. Although the ES44AC at HSC has not working radiators. :)

They are all good in their own way but on the whole TSW3 were the worst. I do agree that TSW2 had the weakest routes to offer especially preferring British trains!!

I joined for TSW2 tbf and from what I remember I loved it. Even with just BKL and ECW I spent hours on it. I just remember enjoying the routes, no performance issues on my xbox. Back when times were simpler haha. Until rush hour at least. But BML is a great route despite the teething trouble its had.

From TSW3 newer routes just didn't quite run as smoothly and nicely. The new visuals were a bit meh in my opinion. And it felt a bit like content wasn't quite as sharp perhaps?
Although it has to be said I didn't buy TSW3 I was given a code by an Ambassador and I probably would have bought it on sale at least if I didn't.

And I haven't wanted to get TSW4. Which isn't likely to change unless we get a BPO starter pack. :)

As a console player the editor isn't a factor for me though :)

For me personally TSW4 was a disappointment apart from seeing what JT have done. TSW3 was meh for me but I enjoyed some of the routes. I just have better memories on TSW2 tbh. Not sure why :D Maybe times were simpler and I didn't care as much lol

I regrettably relate to that a lot, TSW2 had no Z-Fighting on Xbox at the start of its journey, Rush Hour time was when it came about, fighting with that in TSW3/4 has put a grim history on them with me, definitely the reason behind my time put in being not as much lately despite several of the content being on the up since TSW2 (bit of a mixed bag still at times to say the least on releases though)
