Well given the career bios of some past and present at DTG, it’s not surprising the EA business ethos and ethics are being practiced there. This pack really is the epitome of low hanging fruit, if you pardon the cliche. If Rivet wanted to do something to enhance Edinburgh to Glasgow, why didn’t they do a classic diesel set with a Class 47/7 conversion and some Mark Two coaches with BDSO on the end of the push/pull set? Drop in the 101 or even their flawed 150 on the local services. But no, we get a largely unwanted livery pack for an overdone traction asset most players are thoroughly bored with.

They can. They could also create scenarios (albeit in a limited way) for free.

Basically, this could have been done for free by anyone.

How about making some actual new British locos DTG? Or is that too much like work?

Rivet games made this but yeah we’re all sick of the Class 66 it’s time to get a new uk locomotive, and why not an electric one that’ll be the first one ever.

Now that DBS have mothballed the last of the Class 60 fleet, now would be the perfect time to do a proper valedictory pack, something completely new. Sadly seems like innovation and creative thinking currently at an all time low where TSW and DTG/Rivet are concerned. Just put out quick livery packs and hope enough people buy and don’t refund.

I was looking to see what this pack added in terms of services to the timetable, rather than scenarios, and nothing specific is mentioned in the release article. It’s important for me to know what a pack actually adds and although the article does mention I can use the locos on other routes in Free Roam, that is not actually content. Usually I would watch the preview stream but there wasn’t one.

This specifically makes me think there is probably nothing in the timetable which would make it even lazier than it is so far.

Yeah but nearly 10€ for this not acceptable... The biggest reason is that the locos are not correct and the way how cheap this is created makes that this product is not worth such a price. If it was than you talk on a totally different way...

Well I don't yet have the Scot Rail Express so I'll not be buying this pack, but for what it adds to the route, it does seem a wee bit dear at $15.

I don’t mind these types of packs. There are elements in this one that you can’t do in scenario editor such as the coupling to the 385. I like scenarios more than anything else so I would normally be happy to spend £10.

But I’ve been watching ambassador streams (The more honest ones) and they are pointing out too many mistakes in this. The main one that stood out for me is the one feature that they’ve added (the coupling) and the hoses don’t even join up properly.

Clearly this is yet another release that has come out before it’s ready. I’ll buy it when everything noted so far has been fixed (so probably in a long long time from now).

I hate to be negative as I’d like this, but not as it is.

If nobody has brought the pack before I get home from work, I'm willing to take one for the team.
I play this route alot, and have some steam credits left over from a refund.

I'll let you all know. :)

Potential problems aside, I do think it is good to see that recently (most notably this pack and BPO), we are seeing locos that have been in the game for a fair while with little/no variation start to receive a greater selection of official liveries.

I wanted to see more than just EWS maroon on the 66, and now there will be two other paintjobs to use instead. For me, that's enough to justify the price, and I respect that for some that's nowhere near enough. Pricing of this pack will be divisive and perceived value is highly subjective, but personally I do think it's a step in the right direction towards seeing much more variety within the current stock we have available.

You're paying for extra scenarios and services. You also get the ability to couple a 66 to a 385

Honestly, if scenarios made in the last year or two are anything to go by (can't judge TSW4, didn't buy), I would ditch that argument. Most of the scenarios were extremely boring. No imagination was used to make them really special compared to the timetable. Whereas timetable is A-B, the peak of scenarios these days seems to be A-B-A... with extra assets on the side. That hardly justifies the DLC

I was highly sceptical of this pack but I'll give Rivett it's due, the ONE 66 is a bit better than the screenshots showed. It does have the third door and ladder, it also has the correct head lights and windows. Still has the Buckeye coupling but we can live with that. Sadly inside the cab it still has EWS branding which is a shame.

The included timetables for e-g are terrible, they are all unit drags. Nothing using the engineering wagons and nothing using the container flats or other wagons from tsw4.

Is it worth £10. I'm not convinced myself, personally it's more a £4.99 pack, but as the drs 66 is correct it does give some variation and will be great for future scenarios in creators club.

Just to clarify, the ONE 66 is 2 unit drags in the timetable. The DRS does have seacow runs.

Normally I'd 100% agree with you but on this occasion even The British Ace has stated that this bundle isn't worth the money, so if he's coming out with comments like that then it really must be a pretty desperate attempt to make a few quid.

I’m not convinced this time around is some new idea they were trying out tbh. I don’t know what it was but that just seems a bit of a cheap false reason.

I’m not convinced someone decided that advertising in less places would be better advertising.

Total laziness to leave the EWS branding in the cab. If it wasn’t worth the effort, it’s not worth my hard earned money.

To clarify this from our end, we're not trying anything new with our communications, as noted in our Arosa Aggregates article we had to delay the original release of Engineering Express - I appreciate the feedback shared regarding the confusion of the release date without having a "Coming Soon" article.

I will ensure that all of our add-ons receive both a 'Coming soon' and 'Out Now' post in future, which will be shared through the usual places.

Rivet Games lost their pink and purple crayons.

Had to ask Santa for a new set for Christmas, so this DLC got delayed until January.

Also depends on licensing and what they can actually access and get reference. A license might be just for a train or it might be all. An appropriate route might also be required.

Agree with you. This is a forum run by them created by them. I doubt it would take anyone in marketing that much time to create a post and post an announcement on forums they manage.

Scenarios that go on the creators club are not as advanced as developers can do as they have much more advanced development tools.

Dont forget we got the ROG37 which had new liveries for the 37 and the 375s. With internal work in the cabs and interiors with timtable layers, with scenarios and layering into other content for half the price?

That pack was higher quality and had more work done to it than this pack. But yet this is almost twice the price?

Im not against paying for content. But this ones a little to steep and a bit sloppy for me personally

But when are scenarios in gameplay packs even "advanced?" I would hardly call the scenarios in this pack "advanced." Heck, one scenario has some issues

So am I, but £11? Absolutely not. It’s not long ago new locos were selling at that price.

In my opinion scenarios are generally the worst part of the game, to such an extent I rarely bother with them. I find that most of them are overly scripted with tedious objectives, and given that I am bored to death of the Class 66 (I literally never touch it) the only reason I’d ever consider buying this would be as AI for service mode. I know others feel different but to me it’s simply not worth the asking price.

Be honest, who’s actually thinking ‘Great! Some more 66 action’?
