Just a thread to discuss the blueprint editor. If I leave it open, it eats cpu resources even when doing nothing.

    So, what's going on here?

Probably more a technical report than a general discussion topic.

I just figured it may be worth a debate. It's using up to 25% of 8 cores @ 4.2 GHz just sat there.

Same here, Power usage Very high. Should not be like that for a simple tool as the BP editor. I bet if they used standard Windows UI it wouldn't happen.

I've also noticed that TSC is using up to 100% of available resources of my GTX1080 in the menu screens.

Maybe something got broken at some point, but unsure of when.

Not on my end, (capped FPS at 75 (20 background) via Nvidia CP). Power usage still very high, but not resource usage in menus.

I found it's better to not use the launch parameter "FPSLimit=" but to let your gfx driver cap the FPS to avoid the menu running wild.

    See above.

Maybe try an older version BlueprintEditor2.exe? (though I'm not sure if it is a plugin causing this)

Hmm. Nothing special, a standard .NET application... maybe install a newer .NET version and see if it changes?

    Edit:

Just tried - the old v72.3b BP editor acts the same. So the problem lies elsewhere. Could be .NET or even a Windows update having caused this.

Maybe worth a punt. Still concerned about the GPU usage in the menu's though, seems pretty wild to me.

Not sure, CPU usage is a bit high, but OK. I wonder if Windows' power rating itself has been tuned intentionally in these days of "energy crisis".

Got TSC running in the background. All ok - I'll just ignore the Power usage, I don't know what Win defines as Very High.

Reload the page, I'm often editing my posts. There's no difference using v72.3 bp editor.

Could be interesting to try downgrading .NET. I've got 6 installed, though TSC only requires 4.7.2. Maybe that's the cause?

Worth kicking a few ideas about and seeing what's going on for sure.

I'll just check on my old PC standing next to me (which will be a LinuxMint system soon). Got TSC on Win7 there. Will check the blueprint editor and menu.

EDIT: Forget the menu, can't launch Steam on Win7 anymore, only BlueprintEditor2.exe :D

Figures! Haha. Linux is 50% of my workload (for telephony nodes I wouldn't trust Windows), TSC the other 50%. From Centos to Ubuntu and a few distro's in between. But I digress and it's not on topic.

I've just tested starting the v72.3b Blueprint editor on my Win 7 machine.

It's the same, it was never any different.

That's pretty messed up. What the heck is it doing then? There must be a way to find out

No idea. As I said, it was always like that. Even if only assigning one core to the exe, power usage is very high according to Windows.

    Does it run under WINE?

Unsure, but that might be a good avenue to explore.
