Anyone else now lost the class 52 nameplates? I only get the numberplates now?

See the post by Jetwash here and the Image below as to what is being referenced :)
Thank you for the heads up, I was racking my brain as to what was causing the issue shown in the attached image, I was about to start pulling all mods and put the game back vanilla. Now with that one mod removed, all is looking good now, and even added in your new TSW4 | Lighting & Graphic Enhancement v3.9.2 via god mode.

The image with blinding lights, with Aran WSR mod, and the others with it removed, and the TSW4 | Lighting & Graphic Enhancement v3.9.2 installed. As the images show the mod is *Not happy with the new update, hopefully, Aran can get the mod updated:)

    You and me both... :)
I read through the thread here, ( Is this really confirmed? ) That a Dev worked on their own time "after hours" to make this Re-master happen. I have not seen any outright statements like this.

DTG haven’t given us this update, one of the devs (Liam I believe) gave up his own time to remaster this route and he is the one who deserves all the plaudits and thanks, not DTG.

It's not just Liam but also lots of other team members who helped. At least dtg still allowed the project to happen.

You do make a valid point, dtg did let it happen, I wonder about the time frame it took to get this done, it sure looks like a lot of work was done, and they, "dtg" did push it out as a "FREE" update. Liam along with all who had a hand in this should get A bonus...

I have the WSR dlc installed into TSW3.
If I buy TSW4 then I need to buy the WSR dlc again if I want to add it to TSW4?

DTG "allowed" their employees to work for free in their own time to enhance a paid for product and make them more money. How very magnanimous of them :|

This update is genuinely beautiful. What Liam and co have managed to do to an old route, to inject in the services, but most of all the attention to detail along the line! What a difference! Thank you Liam and everyone else who gave up their time, I really hope you managers appreciate you, because the community does!

I used the Class 09 services in the steam gala as a little time filler today. Am I going mad or does the 09 start out cold in the timetable?

I noticed that. A minor revolution by TSW standards. Well done to all involved.

True. I’m curious what work went into it since - if I recall correctly - the latest has always been that the AI can’t handle it.

The AI can handle it, as they don't need to startup the loco to use it. But what tends to happen is if you come to a service using that loco later in the day, you will still need to cold start it.
I have some of the 142s as cold starts in my TVL timetable. Even if the train has been in use all day, and I use it at 3pm, it will still need to be started from cold as the AI don't do it.

You also have to release the parking brake. I've only played 1 so idk if the other one is also affected

seems kinda fine to me, at least they ain’t overly protective of development for themselves to the point of strange (unlike GWR and their sharing of the FGW license for example…)

I would say it was an issue if the work doing was essential bug fixing etc and stuff but if it’s like a remaster like scenery and timetables (though dovetail should probably take more responsibility for timetables) then it seems fine :)

Can confirm sounding two “crows” on the whistle from the 4F got the 8F on the rear to release brakes and able to move the train.

However, and this is meant as constructive criticism, having the 8F on the rear also powering on the lightweight goods train presents zero challenge or opportunity to thrash the 4F a bit. Within a few seconds at moderate regulator you are doing 25 MPH and it’s shut off and coast with the safety valve singing away. I suspect the 8F is on the rear to avoid having to script a run round move in the timetable later on, but would it be possible to revise the run so it’s only in light steam and not powering?

That was always the case, only Western Champion and Western Courier would spawn with nameplates.

Ah, I see. For a shunter, that actually makes sense though. Don’t know how it’s done in the UK but in Germany, shunters are turned off when parked.

Due to the very different cut-off mess ups, you can at least get the 8F (and Jubilee in a later service) almost dead. The 4F likes 40-50% indicated cut-off which quickly uses up all the pressure of the 8F/Jubilee. So there’s that, at least :)

The other option might just be to uncouple the 8F, if not planning on chaining the runs.

If this is the 4F and 8f Freight run to Bishops Lydeyard. . When you get to BL you uncouple the 8f on the rear. you then run the train around the triangle and make your way back to BL. Havent gone any further than that yet.

Am I missing something with this update or is the Class 150 literally the only timetable available in this update? It's all I can see when I go into timetable mode as there is no other locos shown in the menu.

For some reason when you get back to Bishops Lydeard you can't take it forward for it's next journey.

Thanks for that. I thought it was a set-up bug as I could not release the brakes without the AI 8F reapplying them. I eventually decided to uncouple the 8F and set off to see how the service turned out.

    There are three answers.
    • The "correct" one is to sound the whistle twice, the standard banking alert.
    • You can also give up and uncouple the 8F
    • Or, you can take the 8F's brakes offline by releasing them *and closing the ejectors* which prevents it recreating vacuum.

I take it nobody knows why the updated timetable only shows the class 150 as being available to drive even though I've got all the DLC then? I'd really like to know why this is happening, please help!

Kind of buffed that i cannot use the 8f or Jubilee, even if i have it. I have no interest whatsoever to get peak forest, nor that badly overpriced rivet railtour dlc. So the steam timetable is not there for me which is a shame.

But the overall update on the route itself is fantastic. Great job. Just hoping that there might be an option to eventually get the other 8f and jubilee to work on it

That is a good question when you select it your option is West Cornwall Local, then a handful of serves are all 10 to 12 min long, and the front Destination Blind on the train shows Blackpool North. And there are a few other diesel locos to choose from also.

I know this may be a really dumb thought and Question, but do you have the Blackpool DLC installed, I ask and make this statement only because of the above question about the class 150 that is usable.
From the Steam page of Blackpool DLC:
Please Note: While not required, for a fuller timetable experience, including additional layers and substitution, the route makes use of the following add-ons which are available as separate purchases:

Peak forest has all the locos that wsr uses. If it was sos, you would require 2 dlc to get the 4f which makes it easier for the dev and the player can save some money if they don't own either steam route

The Class 47 will only show up on the Steam timetable if you have Rivet Games' Steam Pack for West Cornwall Local, this is because it's only used as banker for the special Winter services for the Festive Jubilee.

I haven't considered the 4f tbh, yeah it makes sense. But why is the peak forest 8f and Jubilee a "different" Train then the ones from SOS ? Thats what i dont get.

But talking about "saving money".... I feel like i have to buy two further dlc to get this new experience. Thats to much. As is the general pricing of TSW products imo.

But thats something for another thread, not wanting to steal attention from this otherwise really good update that has actually come for free. And i never thought i would say this about anything TSW related.

Wasn't planning to get this, was never really drawn to it but who can say no to £3.99. Actually really enjoying it, mostly sticking to the steam timetable so far. Expected the long runs to get boring but there is enough to do to keep you busy expecially on the descents. Look and feel of the route is very nice I think this is going to be one I stick to mid summer for that nice cosy feel. Few really low res signs in places and still long rows of shrubs all exact and perfecting in line at the same rotation which breaks the illusion. That said, it is a great update and the effort is much appreciated, thank you.

Despite being helb back by the base game, the sounds feel much improved. Not sure if these Mk1s have a different sound set but they seem to have much more of the squeak, clang and sproing from the brakes I'm so used to hearing which seem to be missing on other routes. It stands out particularily well with scotsman which seems to be a bit quieter. Shame the safety valve issue hasn't been fixed as it really ruins the trainquility of a run. Unfortunately it is another route where long gentle sweeping bends get a constant SQQQEEEEEEEEEEE the entire time. For a route made up mostly of this, it does start to fatigue the ears a bit.

Timetable is good and busy but has some weird choices in places. No opportunity to enjoy the 4f on its own is a bit frustrating. Why does the run with scotsman only have 3-4 coaches and most other services have 5? If anything, you'd expect it to be the other way. Especially considering that the scotsman sercvice misses out the small halts but the longer trains don't? Stopping points all seem to be for the long trains, way past the platforms which is fine, except that with the shorter trains it is the same. Normally this isn't a problem, I just stop where I want but this time, the stopping points seems to be strictly enforced and I had to pull forward to get the stop to register.

All in, enjoying the route and hopefully other routes get shown the love.

P.S. please DTG bite the bullet and commit to fixing the steam physics. Not asking for the world, just plausible physics would be a start.

Just realised the update is only available for TSW4 :(

Bit annoyed as I've had WSR since it released at full price.

The update is TSW4 only because it uses TSW4 exclusive features which aren't present in TSW3 for obvious reasons.

This update made me revisit WSR after a long absence. And I really enjoy the evident improvements. Special appreciation to the remixed sounds. Doppler effect at level crossings and many other, very audible, improvements ....... NIIIIIIIIICE. And the new timetable is fun to drive. You guys even populated the mainline with AI. That shows love and dedication to detail. :)

Just want to say Thanks! Job well done! DTG Liam DTG Rhys Lampard

Which sadly is the reason we probably won't see any more masterpieces like this, unless Liam fancies playing with the GWE....hint hint.

I think GWE is too old to be saved at this point. It does a lot of things differently to the later routes, and has quite a few built in issues that DTG learned from. It needs a complete rebuild, rather than a facelift like most of the other old routes.

That's good to hear, perhaps one day it can be another project for you if you have the spare time. Loving WSR by the way, feels almost like a brand new route.
