Why Does The Öbb 4024 Always Display Störung?

Is this like the chronically illuminated check engine lights on BMWs? What's wrong with the ÖBB 4024?

TSW has become too complicated even for the devs. Wait for a mod to fix it.

I was being (half-)serious. I've worked on Bombardier 185s/186s. I have no idea about the Talents but I would not at all be surprised if that light is actually always on in real life.

 

it's ok, it's probably part of my OCD part of brain being overly active sometimes... like, I know how to run a certain loco, and bam, one day I notice some indicator is on and my brain starts asking, is it supposed to be like that? havent I forgotten to do something?

so yeah I would actually like to know if that light really should be on and if it serves any purpose in-game or IRL or anything

 

here it is on, it is a real cab, but I have also seen other real photos with the light being off, no idea if those trains were actually on or not

 

The Talent is of the usual Bombardier quality, so it had multiple hardware and software bugs:

* The Electro-Pneumatic Advanced Control Unit was very sensitive, if the air dryer malfunctioned it took the EPAC with it

* The "ED-Bremse nicht ausreichend" (ED brake force is not sufficient) error message used to randomly pop up

* If you did not acknowledge the "fahrgastnotbremse, über kipptaster NBÜ quittieren" (passenger emergency brake, acknowledge via NBÜ switch) message during a full brake test, the brake test will nevertheless ends without failure

* If the driving/brake lever is unintentionally moved to the driving position when the units were at rest, then the driver operated the SIFA, the parking brake released

* the units randomly shut down, this was amplified with a new Vehicle Control Unit (Fahrzeugleitgerät, FLG) software update (the one that enabled MU operation)

 

ok, so IRL the Storung light would be on a lot of the time, so in game it is done just to reflect the real thing or does it do anything in game? I mean, if it is meant to be on in-game

 

Its the same by some busses... You have yellow warnings and red one... 99% are nothing serious that a bus can't drive... In the talent you have no difference between red and yellow.. so the most of the time this lamp is on with nothing thats stops from driving! The Talent have no voice controls like the ICE and so you don't hear the message Störung

 

ok so it is just there to reflect this real-life bother ?

The driver's manual that I have is from 2006, and it explicitly states that certain software bugs will be fixed in later software updates. As DB and ÖBB still have sizeable fleets of Talents, I reckon most of these were fixed?

 

sooo, that Storung light being on in the game might just be a minor bug that they dont bother fixing cos it isnt affecting the ability of the train to move? ... I know it is a minor thing, but my OCD part of brain needs a clear explanation
