Oh my..... why did they touch that route? Instead of fixing bugs they go to stuff that works and break it. WHY??? Just checking, TSW 3 : OK (though using a "squashed catenary"). It seems the X scale of the asset was changed from 0.5 to 1 so the whole thing moved... DTG Matt DTG Alex Can you look what happened here in Rhein Ruhr Ost, around km 40 near Gevelsberg? TSW3 - ok
Glad to see I'm not the only one: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/rro-scenery-issue.75037/ DTG please sort this if it is a TSW4 problem. It appears it was not an issue on TSW2/TSW3. Thanks
I gave the DLC a "Not recommended" on Steam. They sell it at full price, quite cheeky. I don't care whether they spend all their resources on fixing the console ports (which should not exist imho, better to outsource the console department and let experts do the ports.). The only language they understand is money, and without pressure nothing happens. Who knows what else is broken in TSW4? Haven't played all content yet, but I'm sure the next bug is just around the corner. I was under the impression the old content just got recooked - now I've lost trust again. They did mess around with it... I really hope the sales are bad for TSW4, and someone from Focus will have a closer look on what is happening actually at the Chatham "Chaos HQ" - and take the action required! I've already sent an email to Focus.
Ah well, TSW4 with exciting new bugs. And all that for only just under €36,00. Yay! I´ve fired up RRO in TSW2 just to have a look and, voilá, the catenary at the spot lies pristine as a virgin before my eyes. Of course, RRO is carrying bugs over from TSW2 to TSW3 to ........... alsoTSW4? Someone might check G6 services G6-Sh04 and Sh05. I´d not be surprised if they still continue undriveable. But that´s another thread: Broken Service: G6 Shunter TSW2 - Gevelsberg-West
Yep. Instead of producing another separate asset for this catenary, they probably just scaled it in game to be more narrow. I assume this scaling function then somehow broke in TSW4.
As an aside, it should be noted with the dissolution of TSW3 and DLC migrating to TSW4 all the existing DLC reviews have vanished. Had a quick scan through my wish list yesterday evening to see if a couple might be on sale and noted “No reviews exist for this product”, on Steam. So routes with known issues like West Rhine or Luzern to Sursee now suddenly have nothing to tell prospective buyers the products are flawed. Probably more of a by product than a cynical move but nevertheless a consequence of changing TSW to a new iteration rather than keeping the same umbrella going.
I still enjoy tsw, but im definetly done with paying content for a full price and expected to be a beta tester. With the BRO timetable it would have been noticable after 1 single session, that the entire a.i traffic is stuck in bremen. (solved now with an update) This shows me DTG didnt even take the time to test older routes at least one single time. Something else: a big reason for playing still older content is my "allergic reaction" to the new OHLE. They are just way more realistic in the screenshots above, rather than the flying fences we have in RSN and voralberg. For me this is the worst change ever could made -> Whyyy? I hate how they look i TSW4 and why the hell did they think everybody is gonna like it? Cant even turn it off.
It's like the lighting, there seems to be one or two arrogant (maybe too strong a word, but nevertheless...) people involved with TSW who think all these new features like the Hornby Dublo catenary and the adaptive over exposed lighting are super duper great and no one else's opinion counts.
I submitted a ticket on this while ago. It seems they will never advance from my MSstore1star review... :/ Legacy addons are the biggest part of TSW franchise and they treat them ill...
It's just funny how they try to keep content separated from each other (like 5 different versions of the same locomotive for 5 routes) to prevent accidentally breaking old content - yet they still manage to break old content year by year. Then don't even bother to fix it and keep selling them full price.
If this asset is not part of the route itself, but a core / EuropeanContentPack asset, it will affect other routes as well. Edit: Browsing contents, seems the mast comes with the route itself. I'll check what happens if I mod the scaling factor....
DTG Matt These masts are PAIRED, means scaling the Y affects both I assume this will stay broken. Why did it work in TSW3?
DTG JD Your team has broken an old route, please do at least acknowledge the error. Don't just pick the "cherries" As I understand it you have four staff members, Alex, Jamie, Jan and yourself assigned to Community management, so a response is something we should be allowed to expect.
Hello, appreciate the call for help, I do want to recognise the team has been busy with reporting as many issues as we can across the forums and we do our best to respond and get everything logged, although we aren't as active in responding over weekends. Regarding this issue, I'll get it logged to be looked at by our development teams. Thank you
Great, because if only one player reports it, it will likely not get fixed. (That's a common thing with Technical Support, not only DTG's.)
Hey, this is a nasty bug. But it only happens when you play the route, no?! So, not game breaking ... (If you´ve just found sarcasm, you can keep it as a courtesy)
Haha, yeah, if my train would at least crash but no it's driving though the mast.... how unrealistic. That's two bugs
Sales Manager: "Girls, don't be mad, this isn't a bug, it's okay, it's part of Halloween, keep buying our products, we're also opening a phase of various promotions."
On Steam it is until Nov 20th. It's a fine route, play it on TSW2020/2/3 though. It's on sale with SoS (these two are probably the worst rated TSW4 DLC, not checked though)
DTG are really enjoying annoying us. Bug reported - known, let's just give it to the TSW3 players too!
Very late on this but, you can still scale individual masts. If you look into the outliner of the actor, you will find that there are still two static meshes that you can move and scale as you wish. Since catenary is visual-only, you can get away with quite a bit when making it. Though I think the proper way to fix this would be to use a catenary holder (don't know if it's the proper name) with no mast, scale it, and then line up a separate pillar. edit: There's also a bunch more of these around that station.
Please tell that to Matt. Obviously I can't edit a DLC route, only add a layer. They just have to revert the patches. It was fine before.
Please don't just look at it, but also fix it. And not just in months or years, but immediately. Thank you
Let me go find out whats happened here, I don't recall there being any intentional changes to RRO either, but if it's a common asset someone's changed, that would explain it. Matt.
I have already done some research for you. It's not a common asset as replacing the Wuppertal.pak in TSW3 with the previous one before the Nov 27 patch fixes the issue on TSW3. It's all in the DLC. It is a common asset though in the sense that it's used in other german DLC, probably there was an update to it that was copied to RRO, which uses these special "squashed" poles instead of the real single "Doppelausleger" masts. Gevelsberg West I'm just unpacking both versions and checking for the diffs. (trying to put the old asset into a mod and see if it works on TSW4) The files have changed: TS2Prototype\Plugins\DLC\Wuppertal\Content\RailNetwork\OHLE\Blueprints\ I have packed the TSW3 blueprints into a mod for TSW4, but I can't tell if the damn AddonManager prevents the mod from loading, can't see it making a change.
Remember this I posted a week or so back, so it’s not just RRO. Seems they broke something fundamental with TSW4
This looks as if an asset was changed, and was copied to all route DLC folders. It's nothing to do with the core as you can swap the pak to eliminate the bug.
It's not the blueprints alone. Might be a change in the map, but Matt's handling this now. I cannot load a TSW3 map into the editor.
Just a small note: This approach could also be seen from TSW2 to TSW3. With the release of TSW3, all reviews of the old DLC were gone. In my opinion, this is a strange procedure and simply had the side effect of being able to get rid of the unpleasant negative reviews. From TSW3 to 4 this has happened again and even though nothing has been changed in the DLC - at best it has gotten worse. Once again, DTG isn’t covering itself in glory here. Well, to be honest, what do you expect when the Christmas present is a strange challenge instead of announcing important fixes. That would be a Christmas present! Why do I care about a stupid challenge if all the problems are ignored.
They won't be able to hide the dirt under the carpet, just look at reviews of previous versions. A sample... CSX C40-8W Loco Add-On https://store.steampowered.com/app/1418841/ https://store.steampowered.com/app/1998928/ https://store.steampowered.com/app/2375908/
Not everyone does that though. If you are a new player who has just joined the franchise by buying TSW4, you will probably won't be going back to check the reviews of the TSW3 and TSW2 version of the add-ons, you will be simply checking the page of the TSW4 DLCs.
I phished Steam for analysis, most people who buy the TSW series are always the same, this simulator game is for a niche of people who only like trains. There were also a lot of people who bought it at a low price, played a few hours and never played again, consequently without purchasing DLC's, adventurers who didn't like it.
Hi DTG Matt, sorry for tagging you. Trying to make sure this issue isn't overlooked. But is there any update to these issues (misplaced assets) on older(pre-TSW4) routes? Thanks! DeJaPa
Just to confirm: The Winter Core Update Pt.2 finally fixed this issue Removed my negative Steam review.
