Everytime I try to start TSW4 I get a warning message that TSW4 cannot sync with the cloud and so anything in my profile might be lost. I bought TSW4 only a little while ago and have not played it yet, or rather haven't driven anything yet. I have 48 minutes on the clock so could anyone help? [Solved]
Why is my previous message awaiting approval? It was a brief reply saying nowt offensive. I was replying to the previous message saying 'TSW4 I think'. Correction: It is Steam that cannot sync, wonder what is going on? I've tried verifying but did not work.
Another update. I ignored said message and proceeded to load game which had no problem whatsoever. However there is no sound at all. My sound is working fine out of game, checked the audio tab and nowt is set to 0%, everything 100 % bar one which is at 75%. I had sound when I previously loaded it and have done nowt to or in game. I also loaded the training centre and no sound in there either. I am up to 62 minutes in game now and would like to know how I can ensure my game is doing local saves and how to fix the Audio or should I cut my loses and refund the game? i'm getting no sound in TSW2 either. When I load a game like sniper Elite 5, no problem.
To check for local saves, it should be as simple as playing a quick 2 minute ECS move, then quitting the game (possibly restarting the computer to be sure, but that's a bit extreme) and then re-opening the game to see if your ECS move is still marked as complete. It is interesting that you are getting no sound in TSW4 AND TSW2. For this issue, I can only suggest trying to find a fix for it in TSW2 (which I believe you have had for a long time now) and then try and do the same in the 58 minute window you have for TSW4.
that is weird steam should not sync with tsw 4 at least not cloud wise since tsw 4 does not use the steam cloud at all must be something else then i have had instances of no sound but that usually after a sound driver update and then forgetting to redo some control panel settings for the sound so not game related
side note: if you ever had an power outage while playing or a crash that needed a reboot that could corrupt some of TSW ini files too
I had an issue with a power outage once while playing TSC and it did just that to me. So the easy solve to the problem was I went out and bought a UPS, that gives me 4 hrs of run time. So this way if I am just starting or somewhere in between completing a run I can continue. I have my computer, monitor, laptop and modem plugged into it. Never want to experience that again.
Not necessarily mine was only about $150.00, they are worth the investment overall when you think about it.
Fixed it. I was so close to refunding it wasn't real, lol. I spent about 4-5 hours searching the internet and got the usual stuff, update drivers and all that stuff but wasn't getting anywhere then found a thread for TSW under windows 10 way before TSW4 came out. Kicking myself really as I should of thought it but nm. The fix was to delete your sound driver under device manager and then scan for changes to put it back and it worked straight away. It is always a good feeling when you fix something but am left wondering what caused it? The sync problem went away too. So I had no sound in TSW2 and TSW4 but I did under other games in Steam like Sniper Elite 5 for example. So what is in TSW sound wise that isn't in other games? I found it strange. Anyway, Thanks for the suggestions.
Interesting find. A rogue sound driver. From my long experience with PCs, I'm recommending to keep to the drivers that do their job, don't just always upgrade if there's no real reason for doing so.
TBH I'm still not 100% on the cause. I have an IFI sound setup with Amp and CAN and have had no problems and the sound is awesome. Music and games were fine. Who would have thought uninstalling the sound driver in device manager would do anything especially when the same driver gets re-installed unless the problem was with TSW4's software? Strange but relieved it is fixed.
