Accessibility Limit On Forum Signatures

Just a suggestion that improves thread readability.

There should be a restriction on signature length and included images. Reading a list of a user's installed DLC or route suggestions, personal stories multiple times in a thread is annoying, stuff like this could just be put into the profile.

Also some signature images take up a lot of space and make reading a thread harder, seeing the same huge images in each reply.

I think it's a matter of courtesy not to force unwanted information on others.

I turned the signatures off. There is an option in the preferences.

Long signatures, such as the ones I've seen on other threads, are also inaccessible for some users, such as for some ND people & for some device screen readers too. I even struggle reading them (especially some of the colours & tiny fonts, so hard to read!).

So I agree; basic, to the point information would be best for signatures - anymore information can be shared on the users profile.

Well, using that bright pink I'd say it's at least.... very intrusive. ;)

I might actually change to colour tbh. Last time I checked, my name wasn't Matt Peddleston

I turned signatures off when people started putting links to every thread they had ever started in their signature. After finding out that I could hide them I gave up trying to suggest people kept theirs short or that the forum moderators should instruct members with long ones to make them shorter.

There’s nothing wrong with signatures existing, I might even have one myself (but I can’t see it due to blocking signatures), but the size of them got out of hand a long time ago and I’m surprised it isn’t complained about more often.

    I turned them off too.

It just destroys the flow of reading conversations, like too many ads on YT. One liner message followed by 20 lines of spam. There's already way too much full-quoting additionally, something which is not accepted on other well-moderated forums.

Can confirm that you have one....

    "Powered by crisps and biscuits."

Short, simple & to the point.
    (Also funny)

Number 8 in your signature is certainly worth including ;)

Because this sort of thing requires a test, I decided to see just how long a signature can be. My tool: The King James Bible via Project Gutenberg.

I first established via a large copy/paste that the limit is 20,000 characters. Now, according to LibreOffice, that would allow through Genesis chapter 6 with some characters to spare. But the forum software seems to count differently, and Genesis 6:18 was the last to fit before the sig box cutoff.

    Just so y'all know.

I was saying I agreed with the inclusion of it - not that it should be removed. Anyway, it now takes pride of place in my new signature
