On BPO, 1Z41 Llanelli to Blackpool N (13:40 from Preston) is enjoyable with the 31, and not a clear run.

I have been enjoying some time on the refurbished Midland Main Line and I found this run:

5Q58 Chaddesden Curve - Ramsgate Depot at 04:46 with the Class 37/7 EPX.

You are hauling refurbished electrostars south towards Ramsgate with the ROG Europhoenix Class 37. The Cargo Line Petroleum DLC is required to make this run interesting. Run it in early to mid September to watch a nice sunrise.

You wait for a loaded petrol train to clear the interlocking just beyond Long Eaton.

They are listed on the spreadsheet under Scottail Express and are 1R55 and 1R99 with the 385 and 1Z46 with the Jubilee.

A nice ECS run on SEHS with the Europhoenix 37:
5Q58 Derby Litchurch Lane to Ramsgate Depot at 11:22

Nothing to spoil; you leave Rochester behind a 375 service and follow it the whole way as you take a set of 375s back for refurbishment. Lots of adverse signals and the usual wonderful AI assortment that we get with SEHS.

I have been enjoying blasting the Azuma up and down ECML while looking for a run like this. I finally found it. This one is a gem!

1A20 Leeds to London Kings Cross at 10:17 with the 801/2.

You need the Scotsman DLC. Run it in May or June. Lots of AI at both ends and lots of adverse signals and superelevated curves at slow speed. You will not be on time, but how close can you be? This one is a personal favorite and a GOAT nominee.

    EMCL 1A20.jpg

Does anyone know the seasonal schedule for the Scotsman AI services? So far, I have
    1Z22 May and June
    1Z87 Jan and Feb
    1Z20 May and Jun

Did DTG ever mention or publish the schedule?

Great run. I got in at 11:07:47 so I was 47 seconds late :D ran HUD-less.

Nice! I am glad you enjoyed it. You beat me me by about 10 seconds and I was using the mini HUD. It is the best run on ECML for me so far.

Spreadsheets are up to date. Please let me know of any errors or omissions!

I like your theory and follow it myself more often than not, but anyone doing so must be prepared for less than optimum scores. Being someone who appreciates the driving experience than ultimately meaningless ratings, I would really appreciate a no-ratings option.

1D09 London Kings Cross to Leeds at 10:50 is a similarly themed excellent run on ECML with the 801/2 except it is the opposite direction. The Scotsman is required and it should be run in January or February. You will be late!

Likewise, I just found a similar run with 1A45 Leeds to London Kings Cross in the 801/2. Scotsman DLC, I ran in January so this may be needed.
Plenty of adverse signals after an unusual, very scenic and windy departure from Doncaster. Drive HUDless only if you know all the crossover speeds

That was excellent! I love the routing at the start and the parade of adverse signals.

It is really nice to add some ECML stuff to the list. I am loving the route and the Azuma.

I've just played this, and it is indeed very challenging but very enjoyable. I did it in 1h51; I can't see how it's possible to do it in the advertised 1h07!

Not sure wether it has been mentioned already, but the 18:22 RB to Nidda on Niddertalbahn features quite a lot of AI traffic for this line. You will be meeting electric regional trains on both stations with electrified tracks, aswell as two trains into the direction of Bad Vilbel, from where you started. If you choose April to May you will also drive into the night, which is quite fun.

I have rediscovered the 465 on SEHS and I ran this one again. It is superb and highly recommended. I nominated it for a GOAT run in the new spreadsheet.

Interestingly, I tried to run 2L10, 2L11, and 2L17 in TSW 4 and could not find them. Originally, you could select different formations with the 465, but I can't do that in the lastest edition of SEHS. Does anyone know what happened with these runs? I will line them out on the old sheet for now.

In the meantime, I have a good run not previously recommended:
5L92 Slade Green Depot to Gillingham Depot with the 465 on SEHS at 20:44

An ECS run with some adverse signals. Keep the windows open and you can track sounds as AI passes on the Ashford line beneath you. There is a long scheduled wait at Gillingham to let the crossover into the depot clear.

Here is the latest update. As always, please let me know of any errors or runs that have changed.

On BPO 1M21 Dundee - Blackpool N (16:03 from Preston) is an interesting run, including some signal checks.

Played this last night, got in at 11:08 though as I kept having to slow right down for single yellows, great fun though! Will try the other two as well.

Also the first time I've ever had the game generate the correct unit number on the Azuma, random but I'll take it! :D

Here's another short but sweet one from LBN, 377 2F13. Nothing too special from Balham to Battersea, but leave on time and "race" a 465 into Victoria. There are so many gems in this timetable. It's too bad routes aren't made like this anymore!

I´d like to mention a very short but incredibly enjoyable ride on Nahverkehr Dresden (DRA).

S2 Pirna - Dresden Flughafen at 9:16 with the Dostos.

You´re going to see lots of diverse AI traffic such as freight trains, IC service and an ICE service and you´ll also have some parallel rides with other trains. This was one of the most immersive rides I´ve ever had, I was sad it only took 10 minutes.

Nice AI! It had been a while since I had experienced the 377. Does anyone know how the speed control works? I kept getting continuous braking. It doesn't behave like the one on the 465.

Sometimes the speed control will break.
    To use the speed control:
Step1: Make sure all breaks are off and the power handle in the coast position.
Step 2: Move the dial and hold it to the right until you get your desired speed appear in the hud.
Step 3: Press the yellow button and apply power.

If this doesn't work, follow the following steps to fix it:
You are currently at 20mph. You've set your speed set to 40mph. For some reason it is lowering your speed and the speed set is not working.
Step 1: move the power handle to the coast position.
Step 2: Move the speed set dial 5 mph up.
Step 3: the speed set should now be working and be set at 45mph. You can now move it down to 40mph and it should still work as intended.
    Step 4: Apply power.

Hopefully this works for you. It always works for me. :)

I just tried the GOAT service on Nahverkehr Dresden and on the depot run it routed me down a line with no wires, getting the train stuck. Is this intentional?

It's the RE18 Depot to Dresden Hbf. in the Dosto cab car, starts around 12:45, can't check the exact time right now.

I just ran that and had the same thing happen. I was able to glide through the unpowered section and make to the platform. Regardless, the R18 to Cottbus with the 143 is a really enjoyable run. You need to delay departure to between 12:56 and 12:58. Exactly where you leave in that two minute window will determine how late you are. I have been as much as 15 minutes late because of AI traffic. How I love the DRA timetable!

I have never really enjoyed the 143, but I must admit it is growing on me. Learning how to use the speed selector and power selector to best advantage is quite a challenge.

I transferred this run to the TSW4 spreadsheet.

Me too. I was doing 25kmh max, as you should, and got down to below 10kmh before I could get power again.
Was a good run indeed. Managed to get to Großenhain only 10 minutes late!

A nice ECS run on SEHS with the 375:

5L17 Slade Green Depot to Ramsgate Depot at10:14.

A daytime ECS run following stopping services both before and after being put in the hole at Rochester.

Edit: I went to add it to the spreadsheet and saw that it was already there; recommended by cloudyskies21 on post 1036!
I somehow missed out on running it when it was originally recommended. Here is excellent description from December 2022 by CloudySkies21:

Has been a while since I've posted a suggestion, but this one is definitely recommended.

I've returned to playing Southeastern Highspeed again, and with its epic timetable I thought it would be great to do one of the ECS moves. As such, here is the recommendation:

    5L17 - 1013 - Slade Green Depot to Ramsgate Depot - Class 375

It was my first time completing this specific service, and wow that was fun! For just over an hour, I hardly saw any greens with lots of yellows and reds - make sure to have blizzard conditions as with all the snow it makes for a real challenge regarding both visibility and wheel slip (especially when approaching red signals!)

If you spawn on foot around 1010 at Dartford, apart from the bustle of regular 465s, you'll already see a waiting Class 66 freight service as it prepares to head northbound. With your 375 eventually arriving, you depart, but not long before you start encountering your first set of adverse signals; one of those earlier 465s you'd have seen at Dartford earlier had just departed for Gravesend, which is now what you'll be following close behind all the way to its final destination.

Once you pass through Gravesend, this is perhaps the quietest section of the service until you reach Rochester - here you'll wait at the old station for around 4-5 minutes before continuing. As you reach Gillingham, more adverse signals arise and will continue which makes for a real interesting service of increasing and decreasing speeds. Once you reach just outside Sittingbourne, it's interesting as, while you are held at a red, you can actually see the service you're following ahead in the distance which is pretty cool. Just as an extra note, one thing I loved while around the Sittingbourne area is the ringing of church bells around 11am, really great to hear while stopped at a red signal. Once underway again, you'll see another 66 service and for the remainder of the journey to Faversham, I encountered a mix of greens and double yellows which kept me alert.

A real fun, but challenging service - highly recommended if you haven't already, or conversely, even if you have, worth doing again in snowy and/or blizzard weather conditions for a real extra challenge. This is why I love TSW!

1Y00 follows a similar path for the record - departs from Platform 4 instead. Definitely not as interesting though, no one's around at 5 in the morning! :D

1A49 on London - Brighton is a decent run - plenty of AI, especially as you get further into London. Ran it in summer with light clouds but would say it'd be decent in any weather, still one or my favourite routes!

Also noticed that passengers stayed on at Gatwick instead of everyone inexplicably getting off, wonder if that long standing bug has finally been fixed?

Here's one of those Rush Hour runs HRR DB 87205 Eastbound.
Even though the game wants you to go at 13:05. You're sitting at the Start spot for 17 minutes due to Train Traffic head. you go at 13:22 yet finish with Gold

Have been playing GWE again recently and, while the route is one of the oldest, it certainly still holds up well after all these years. As such, here is a recommendation for one of the most enjoyable services I've ever done in TSW!

The awesome service will actually be the second recommendation below, however the initial service is nice to play beforehand as you'll see:

    5P06 - Reading Traincare Depot to Reading - 0532hrs - Class 166

This service is pretty straightforward but leads nicely to the start of the next service from Reading and you'll see plenty of AI traffic too:
    65cec6e5-0e94-4b65-b73a-d7af8090ff3b.jpg

    2P06 - Reading to London Paddington - 0548hrs - Class 166

Now I didn't expect this service to be so enjoyable - in my opinion it's probably the GOAT for GWE. What's great about this is for most of the hour-long journey you'll be following another service close behind so expect a lot of yellow and red signals! What I love about the 166 and GWE is it's quite a challenge to keep pace with the timetable - but I ended up arriving into Paddington only a minute late so not too bad. Enjoy!

An awesome amount of AI, even by BML standards!

I love how freight on HRR often has to wait for passenger traffic to clear.

A fantastic set of runs, now GOATed! Even the depot run had some adverse signals.

Following on from these two services once you arrive at Paddington on 2P06 head over to platform 3 and take over 1C03 - Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads - 0700hrs - Class 43 HST (if you're running on time with the previous service you'll parallel 1C03 as it comes out of the Old Oak Common depot). On the way back out of Paddington you'll be racing the the same 166 set you just left, managed to finally catch it just before Ealing Broadway. I did all this on 25th Feb so by the time you're on your way out of London the sun is coming up and there's plenty of traffic to see heading to Reading. I was lucky to meet several 166's and a London bound HST as I arrived at Reading. Definitely nice to couple all these services together had a nice easy run with the HST as well.

The Ebbsfleet International turn on SEHS with the 395:

Start ECS service 5J95 St Pancras to Ebbsfleet at 07:38

Leave as soon as you can and be waiting at the red at the end of the platform when the service starts. You get some nice TVM action on the way; try to smooth the ride out as much as you can. When you arrive at Ebbsfleet, switch ends, set up, and the take the 1J95 service back to St Pancras. This is a straightforward run with some nice East Midlands AI as you arrive.

What does that have to do with the posts you quoted?

Wow! I am really impressed with Banstrecke Salzburg - Rosenheim. Every run I have done has been interesting. The layers, AI, and traffic as well as the varying gradients and the scenery make for an excellent TSW experience. This has a DRA feel to it and I hope DTG chooses this as a route for continued DLC layer and timetable development. This has the variety of DRA, the driving experience of RSN, and the scenery of DCZ for me. I am going to be exploring this one for a while. Here is my first entry:

SRM DGS (41870) Triest Campo Marzio to Saarburcken Rbf with the Vectron (because what else are you going to drive?) at 06:43.

My first end to end run on this route is almost GOAT material. Plenty of traffic, adverse signals, and driving challenges with a power change along the way. Highly recommended. I ran it on December 21 to get a sunrise out of Salzburg.

I am also really enjoying the Bahnstrecke Rosenheim - Salzburg timetable. I found a interesting service with the BR 111, where you´ll have to wait at Bad Endorf to let trains overtake you. I don´t really know how many, because I think the signal is changing as soon as you´re closing your doors. I closed the doors after the first train and a second train overtook me, before I finally got a green light. Afterwards I left towards Traunstein with a delay of 12 minutes. I don´t know if you can reduce your delay by closing the doors earlier.
    Here´s the service:

    RB (59415) Rosenheim to Traunstein
with the BR 111 at 12:01.

I really liked racing the S-Bahn on the way out of Salzburg. I also got tripped up a couple of times at the entrance signals to Traunstein and Prien. This is going to be fun to explore (and we could really use a buchfahrplan if someone is willing to do one.)

Nice run. I closed the doors as soon as loading was done and the light stayed red.

I'm doing my first runs on Rosenheim-Salzburg and enjoyed this one:

BR111 RE (79008) Empty stock from Freilassing to Salzburg Hbf at 5:54
    followed by
    766.2 RE (79008) Salzburg Hbf to München Hbf 06:07 (actual departure ~ 6:12 - 6:14)

There's a quite some congestion when going to Salzburg, waiting for a red in the beginning and some yellows, so you'll be late for the departure of the following passenger service.

The delay may even add up with some PZB action on the first part of the following passenger service. After stopping in Freilassing, you can let go and try to reduce your delay.

Set date on Feb 1 for some nice sunrise and winter scenery.

    1. Leaving Freilassing at 5:54, there is a longer waiting at the exit signal (avoid a forced brake by the 2000 Hz magnet at the shunting signal shortly before the red main signal by pressing PZB Befehl). A mixed freight overtakes you which you'll be following until Salzburg. But before you can leave, you additionally have to wait for an ÖBB from Salzburg.
    2. Approaching Salzburg Hbf, you get some PZB action. If you hurry up, you're slowed down even earlier as you still have the freight in front of you.
    3. Anyhow, you'll be late at Salzburg Hbf. Switch ends and prepare the 766.2 for departure. You might be ready to leave around 6:12 - 6:14.
    4. Depending on when you could leave, there is some paralell running with the ÖBB S3 (5053) from Salzburg to Freilassing. If you could leave Salzburg Hbf before about 6:13, you get priority before the S3. If you're just a little bit later, you "unexpectedly" have to wait at a red in Salzburg-Liefering for the S3 which you just have overtaken.
    5. If you're behind the S3, you might still get some yellows and reds while going to Freilassing, if you try to catch up too impatiently.
    6. In Freilassing, the delay is ~ 10 minutes. Your ride to Rosenheim will be much smoother without further disruptions. You can reduce the delay to ~ 5 minutes until Rosenheim, might be even less with dry weather (I drove in slippery snowfall conditions). There will also be some nice AI traffic, e.g. in Traunstein.

Yes, this was my first end-to-end run too, and it was very good. Not quite sure about the signalling for the 60kmh crossover towards the end, but that didn't spoil things at all. A great run, possibly bovid!

Forgot which service exactly it was but one of the ECML services with 9 car azuma went via some diversionary route and incorporated temporary speed restrictions. That surprised me in a good way

It seems that virtually every run I do on BSR is either interesting or passes by some interesting runs. I am constantly writing down places and times to spawn so that I can walk into the cab of these runs and then find them in the timetable.

Here is a truly excellent one:
EC (117) Frankfurt to Salzburg Hbf - Worthersee at 19:05 with the 101.

How I love blasting the 101 up and down this route. Run this one on the equinox, June 21st to enjoy a sunset.
The fun begins just outside Traunstein as you catch up to a 1500 ton freight.

You will be late into Freilassing. How late you are determines whether you wait for a 4024 service to leave or get the green or leave before it per the timetable. How late you are also determines your run into Salzburg.

    The 4024 run is good:

S3 (5082) Feilassing to Schwarzach - St. Veit with the 4024 at 20:03. You will PZB'd and "magnetized" virtually the whole way. Make sure you know the 1000hz and 500hz restricted limits, which are 45 and 25 kph.

Thanks for this. I just did this run and was even more fantastic than I thought. The fun began already a few stations before Traunstein.
You see the freight already in Prien leaving from the side track if you're on-time. The freight runs on the left track so that you can overtake. Arrived in Traunstein, you have to wait and let it pass again and follow it with several yellows until Freilassing.
