Is there any easy way on how to assign a speed limit signal to be parallel to the track? Besides adjusting it manually. In fact, is there any other specific way to use speed signals besides just dragging the blueprint into the world editor and selecting "pick location" to get the speed? Our signals are capable of showing the speed, but the "default" rotation isn't matched to the track like a normal light signal ( for example ) can be set.
I think what you could try is to create the asset so that it has a y-offset of 3 meters or so, and then use the snap to network mode (activated by the magnet tool at the top of your screen) which will center your asset's origin on the middle of the track (including rotation).
Hmm, I have tried doing that, but while it does snap to the center of the track, the rotation being at 0 always remains on that "default" position and it isn't rotated so that the X axis is facing the same direction as the track. I would believe that there's some way that the signs can be automatically rotated when snapped to the network so that they're facing the same direction as the tracks.
Well yes, rotating it then manually with the snap magnet on will snap it on the right direction at least. Thanks for the advice.I have yet to try and setting an offset of about 3 meters as you suggested.
So we've set the offset and it does what we wanted. It requires the manual rotation adjustment but I think that's still quite alright. Thanks again for your help fceschmidt We adjusted the offset in the blueprint itself.
Looks good, happy to help! Just set the offset once "correctly" (so that you are happy with it, depending on the loading gauge of your tracks) and then you should be fine... most of the time at least. You probably know but you can always go out of magnet mode and make manual adjustments with the green arrow anytime you feel it needs to be further out to the side, or closer to the tracks
