Does anyone know if they talked about this in the roadmap stream and if they did could you pls tell me what minute to have a look at it???
Still on the list to look at but the people who need to look at it are busy on xbox crash issues, that's gotta come first. Matt.
I wonder if there's any progress with this? Really looking forward to the audio sounding as good as it does on other platforms, hopefully the team will already be on it.
I was wondering the same thing. Despite affecting a third of TSW players, this particular audio issue (which started with TSW v3) has never been considered important enough to warrant roadmap status, and it seems there is always something more important that requires developers' attention. It was encouraging when Matt announced that they had identified the cause and a potential solution, but we don't seem to be any nearer to a resolution. TSW4 on Series X is otherwise pure pleasure - a sofa-based simming experience that runs smoothly (compared to PS5), but again tragically marred by that dreadful audio quality.
Xbox wouldn't be involved in any development since they're not responsible for making games. But there has been no new updates
No you shouldn't buy it just to play tsw, it's not fair... I've also been waiting for this fix since the release of tsw 3 and it's them who should fix it not us the ones that have to buy a pc just because the game we bought for xbox doesn't work properly
Do you think it will ever get fix or will dovetail just decide to ignore it. They shouldn’t really as everyone deserves the same experience especially as the new Blackpool route has come out.
You’re right but I just really hope it can get fixed soon because it’s been so long!!! I can’t bare the sound anymore. Plus there is a new route so they should of fixed it for that
Yeah I know, just trying to keep this thread active so that someone would actually do something about this...
I have a feeling that the Xbox audio update will be dropped in to the winter core update. They already know what’s wrong and how to fix it, so why put it off indefinitely?
I had a run with the SEHS 375 yesterday and I forgot how awful it was. The audio was absolutely shocking. Distorted horns obnoxiously loud and distorted horns and aws. Should have stuck with TVL lol
Unlikely since it's not on the roadmap. It's not something that can just be done and it works magically. It requires a brand new engine with the possibility that it uses up more memory.
Please can your refer to Matts earlier posts in the thread and not just be a unofficial DTG mod. Its an issue thats frustrating a lot of people and we are well within our rights to make sure its not forgotten about
The fact that this issue is *not* on the roadmap means Xbox players’ right to have a properly functioning version of TSW4 (and 3!) is once again being blatantly ignored. Time and again this is passed over for other development priorities. What use is the new suspension if the game sound is screwed for 33% of customers? Beats me, yet for well over a year now players pleas fall on “selectively” deaf ears. But if someone complains that Mastery (a pointless mini-game no-one gives a flying frak about anyway) on some loco is buggy it’s fixed within a few days or weeks at worst (sigh). /Rant
Not true, I quite like mastery, and often case the problem is getting it to appear, something of which will be a lot simpler to fix than Xbox sound issues.
I agree, why not put the development time of new features into problems like our xbox sound. Such a shame, because it spoils what can be a really enjoyable game. But between this and the z-fighting issue, I find myself avoiding certain trians more than others.
Fair enough, just frustrated at the prioritisation (or lack of) for what is a major gameplay-affecting problem for many customers.
Definitely agree issues like Xbox Sound and Z-Fighting should have been fixed quite frankly years ago, but not thinking leaving other things unfixed will in any way help get that resolved. definitely some priority flaws for DTG to sort out though.
I have my 35€ ready to buy tsw4 when the audio gets fixed. Any chance this happens before christmas?? It's been over 1 year already hahaha
Can any dev confirm this is being worked on?? We (xbox players) just want to play the game like everyone else and we've had this issue since the launch of tsw3. It would be nice to at least include it in the roadmap to let us know this is something you are planning to fix and not just ignoring the problem like you've been doing for the past year+ . I think I speak in belhaf of the whole xbox tsw community when I say this so please take this issue seriously because audio is one of the key parts for enjoying the game and this issue is ruining the experience for xbox players
Hopefully the current radio silence on the audio fix is because DTG is saving the good news for the Winter core update. For some unknown reason this thread has been dumped in the Troubleshooting section of the forum. Is a new thread necessary in General Discussion to keep Xbox players’ protestations alive?
I'm not working on that regard, but from what i understand it, it is not a bug that can be fixed easily. This relays more on the low available memory the XBox hardware gives compared to the other platforms. The audio is not "broken", it is only reduced in quality to save memory what ends up in high compression with the artefacts that this then produces. To "fix" it, they would need to strip out other assets to make room for less compressed audio. Or reduce the amount of used audio to make the room for the left audio. The audio files used, to my understanding, are the same as for the other platforms, just more compressed to reduce memory footprint. So there is no distinct XBox audio that causes this. Just not enough memory on those boxes. And DTG can't upgrade your XBox hardware. They have to deal with it in one or the other way.
Everyone is aware of the RAM limitations of the Series S, but why would that affect the Series X? They obviously have to dial back certain graphics settings for the former, but why are the audio settings dialled back for both? It makes no sense that it should affect both builds, and is not really fair on Series X owners’ expectations, who paid for the premium Xbox.
AFAIK the Series S tells the engine it would be a next gen full capable console. So the game engine can't differentiate between the two boxes yet. And i guess there is only one build for both because of that.
I appreciate your time, thanks Maik. Just struggling to understand why other games can apparently have completely different builds for the S and X, yet apparently TSW is incapable of distinguishing between them, despite running on the popular UE4 platform.
Tbh, i don't like those comparisons as they make no sense to me, as a developer. Other games are, surprisingly, other games
Disappointed there’s no mention of a fix for this in the Winter Core Update part 1. Of course, now this thread’s been dumped in the troubleshooting forum, the issue will probably fall even further off the radar. Please DTG Matt let’s keep S and X builds separate and at least get the audio quality upped on the Series X!
They didn't even put it on the roadmap again. I think it will be foegotten again like every time. This thread is just useless cause they never do anything about the audio. I play on Series S btw and I would also like to have a decent audio
Of course, but they will need to find some extra free RAM for the S which will be a challenge. The X however, should work fine right out of the box. Struggling to understand why there are many Xbox games that run fine on the S, and have great sound quality. Why I wonder, is TSW such an unusual case?
Should we create a new thread in the main tsw discussion as they clearly dumped this one here to take us out of the way??? I feel like we should cause in my opinion we are being disrespected
Fully agree, feels like the issue is quietly being swept under the rug. Let us continue to campaign in the new thread!
Sorry my friend, it appears there is no new thread. I recently asked Matt the question in a stream and he said they know what the problem is but they don’t have a solution for now. I reckon it’s all down to the lack of Series X ram which is the cause (similar build).
Nothing to do with the RAM, Matt has stated in a stream it’s down to how they build for Xbox as they use a different sound engine which is causing the problems, however switching to another sound engine would require a full rebuild of near enough everything
I It seems you know more about the subject than I, but no game on Xbox, even those in the back-compat catalogue sounds as bad as TSW. I think the issue is therefore that TSW Xbox shares a common sound library, which, due to memory constraints (common denominator), has been over-compressed to the point where it heavily impacts the audio quality. Anyway, whatever the true reason, my Series X has now been sold to Micromania (local game shop) as I’m done with DTG’s excuses. From here on, it’s PS5 and PC only for me.
Oh for sure, tsw sound is terrible, but even on other games I’ve had no problems even ones that are quite intensive, hopefully one day they fix it but I shall not hold my breath
During the february roadmap, matt explained that there can be memory issues if they switched to the new audio engine which could use much more and last gen consoles in particular are running out. I've taken notes so I know. They know what to do but taking it slow to ensure there are no issues related to memory. Another thing to consider is that all your content has to be recooked so it's a full reinstall
