As titled I have my addons installed on the external and the game installed on internal, from the looks of things all works I’m just wondering what the downsides of this are, minus loading times is their anything significant what could be an issue like quality reduction and a high prone of crashes as a risk.
If your external storage is switched off nothing on it will work. It shouldn't have any adverse effects.
no it’s just I’ve got the TSW 4 addons in the external and the base game on the internal, it all runs just wondering on the downsides apart from the slower start up times.
I have things installed on an external drive. Can't say if it affects performance since I am on gen 8 and I haven't played with everything installed on the internal storage.
I have a 500GB SSD hooked-up to my Series S. Can't say I've ever noticed a difference in load times or performance. So long as you're using an SSD and not an HDD I reckon you'll be fine. XBOX One consoles have a nasty bug, where if you have an external HDD/SSD plugged into the back of the console, your Wi-Fi internet connection will not work. I used to suffer from that a lot, so if that ever happens to you, disconnect your external storage device to get your internet connection working again.
When I had all addons installed on external and the core game on internal one. Whenever Ioaded I timetable service, I end up spawning on foot in a random place because the train I want to drive doesn't load up properly.
