If they are allowed to. The train operating companies are the one in charge and if they say no, dtg have to respect that. Money has nothing to do with it. Dtg can't bribe them and the train company can still say no even if dtg are paid employees. Even finding drivers can take a while and there are rules in place if they can record or not. If a train suddenly becomes unavailable, dtg have to work with what they have. You are sounding like dtg can just show up on a random day and be like let me steal your trains for a full day. That's not always the case.

Certainly enough for reference purposes. As I said at the time the Class 700 came out with awful sounds and later the Azuma, the sound engineer should be given a season ticket and spend so much time riding the trains he hears them in his sleep. That way even if the in game sound has to be emulated or bodged from other available sound, he knows exactly what to aim for - particularly relative levels. Certainly with the 700 got to wonder if the sound guy went anywhere near the real thing and the 801 exactly the same.

In which case it comes down to planning. At what point is sound a consideration? Often it seems to be the last?
Lets build a great looking engine that we have zero to little chance of the correct sound for! Let the tea boy blow raspberries into the microphone and we'll mix it into a bastardisation of how it should sound!

No, they can't just show up, that is clear as day...I NEVER said anything like that.
They can make an appointment, and work out a time and day.
    And if no SAY so...
I take them at their word and expect to get what we/I/you paid for.
Say what you mean and mean what you say. They stated it and more often than not have not delivered it, plain and simple.

They can't show up, but surely they have procedures in place and can make arrangements. Saying something may happen that'll stop them is a stupid excuse, if they planned these excursions, with a backup in case things go wrong, then it shouldn't be an issue.

It all comes down to effective planning. Granted plans don't always work out, but that's why there's such thing as contingencies.

This exactly. If you are running a company specialising in train simulation products, then you need some sort of plan as to how you are going to obtain one of the key elements. Otherwise eventually, if the door is slammed in your face at every turn by every railway operator in whatever country you are building for, then development really is end of life. And as sated earlier I am sure there are countries and railway operators who take a more relaxed view, what about Eastern European countries such as Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary etc. Obviously there's perhaps more of a language barrier but if the railways of those countries are happy to co-operate then maybe it's time to draw a line under the current UK/USA/Germany cartel and look elsewhere.

Problem: My biggest annoyance with TSW is OHLE missing all over the place, invisible gantry masts, and floating OHLE assets.
Solution: Stop buying routes with OHLE.
Problem: Can't do that because i play mostly German routes, and they're all bloody electrified.

Problem: DTG charge way too much for route DLC packs.
Solution: Wait for a nice sale and get 50% off everything.
Problem: I play on XBOX, and there is more chance of the Polar ice caps melting that TSW stuff going on sale.

So yeah, my new favourite things are overpriced flying OHLE masts.... of which i have many.

Neither have the Clinchfield Railroad or British Rail. Doesn't prevent them from being in TSW.

There are some delightful lines in the west of the Czech Republic like Nove Udoli, the route through Kubovka Hut (what a name for a station). A DLC with an unsilenced 749 class hauling traditional stock and one of those little 4 wheel rail buses 810 class I think, would be Day One for me. But there is no vision, no drive at DTG regards thinking outside the box and risking something different.

    ...or Peak Forest.
Well, I assume that to be the case because I walk past the station and over the bridge at Millers Dale at least 3 times a week and haven't been honked by an approaching train yet ;)

OHLE is one of those things I only notice if pointed out by someone else or if I'm looking for it, otherwise it is just one of those things that just doesn't annoy me.

I agree i notice thing s too but a lot of it doesnt annoy me either and with the debacle thats started with US freight..it can be said that the missing OHLE is important to those routes and countries where electrified trains are common ,and here in US freight services are the largest over passenger ,again i like passenger too but dont deny content in a service thats dominate type in that country

What utter BS… nothing works? Wow. Talking about a delusional statement and an a perfect example of DTG derangement syndrome. I am calling you out on this statement to prove NOTHING works. Better yet, never mind since it is so utterly a false statement and the theme of your posts are all the same, you go on the ignore list

While constructive criticism is encouraged and appreciated, this ceaseless bashing with unsupportable insinuations quickly make it to my ignore list since what they write does nothing to improve the product or help others with the problems inherent.

If nothing in TSW worked, then it is really a mystery why people still play this game (of which there are many on these forums).

I certainly wouldn't even so much as think about it if nothing worked.

And that is what is being done, just have a look-see at the Steam tread they completely, contradicted themselves with Steam locomotives. compared to what was stated on Sep 15, 2023.
The video should start at 4:55.

    --
Compared to what they have stated within the past month or so? I again point you to the Steam thread linked above.

I do kind of agree that his statement was a touch over-exaggerated - but he's no more "delusional" than those who believe there's absolutely nothing wrong with TSW.

    FYI, though:
The core game doesn't work as intended.
    Addons don't work as intended.
Livery editor doesn't work as intended.
Freeroam has a tendancy to not work as intended.
Oh, and now that first party interest has been officially dropped, steam will never work as intended.

....and I think it's fair to say that anyone with an extremist viewpoint could look at the above and quite easily come to the conclusion that the game is a broken mess.

I've never once seen one of the gaslighting folks like you on the Troubleshooting forums. Y'all pretend there's no issues. Either you don't know anything about trains, or you're unwilling to see the daily upcoming issues.

What's welcome on the forums is not for you to decide.

I've spent hundreds of hours in TSW, and many of them unpacking the files, providing help and workarounds, mods, etc.

Before you go on just criticising forum members, go to the people needing advice and help them. Tell them what they are experiencing is all right.

Tell them to delete services from the map due to stuck trains.
Tell them it's normal the Flying Scotsman does not consume steam and drives like a Diesel.
Tell them the station lights in Paddington and the platforms in Reading are looking fine.
Tell them the HOTD device in the GP38 correctly displays 105 psi (I have even filed a ticket, telling DTG what they need to change in the script - nothing was done)
Tell them it's ok the 158 gauges collect snow and freeze in winter.
Tell them the EMT HST gauges are illegible at night, that's prototypical.
Tell them the bogies are correctly assembled on CC's AC44.
Tell them it's correct for the DPU to not pump air into the brake pipe
Tell them missing window frames are ok on the 425
Tell them suspension dampers do float around the train in real life.
Tell them Mastery is not supposed to work
Tell them the Scoring system is well done
Tell them the driver position on the Rotem is fine.
Tell them the dynamic brakes and lights are well done on HSC
Tell them to use the 3 camera to manually operate the DPU on Clinchfield
Tell them the saloon lights on the 700 are supposed to turn passengers black
Tell them locos spawning on buffers and derailing when coupled is ok
Tell them IRL the Class 66 is driving around with Hazard lights
Tell them IRL the driver cleans the windows from rain and snow on the 09 because the wiper's don't
Tell them PZB indicators are flashing after correctly using PZB release - after 7 years of development plus TSC knowledge
Tell them missing walkway animations on SH are fine
Tell them incompletable scenarios are fine.
Tell them it's ok to just have the GP38-2 YN2 removed
Tell them it's ok the 425 doesn't have PIS destinations for HRR
Tell them an editor not being able to export your work is good
Tell them it's fine the 182 (including AI) is unable to open the passenger doors

To be continued (though I'm not in court and don't have to prove anything) - or just read the Troubleshooting forums.

I'm playing a lot of other sims, and compared to TSW their issues are minor or very hard to spot.

I don't know what your contribution to the community is other than picking on frustrated customers, of course you can put me on ignore, that's hardly something I have a problem with. No idea who you are.

    Have a nice evening.

Oh and I do have more coming in video form, I'm sure many will not be happy with what I will show and say.
And concerning my previous post on the newest DLC, I was still hemming and hawing, the more I think about it, I will get it and it just may be the last time DTG gets my $$$ at that price, but only to give an honest objective view, as well as do everything to see where it breaks.

Bud, this has the same energy as those "Screw this forum, I'm leaving!!!" post I see in various forums. If you want to put people on the ignore list, that's fine, but there's no need to announce it, it just makes you look like a attention seeker doing that.

You are right - but the result is the same. I have participated on this forum since it was established. I appreciate those who provide constructive criticism and have provided my share of feedback over the years. But such blatant statements that nothing works is way over the top and blatantly untrue. And as you stated I should have just placed the author on the ignore list and moved along

I know im on your ignore list but idc. People will get increasingly upset if the game they are pumping money into cant even address bugs.

The 377s rear gangway door locks open when a player takes a service over. You cannot do anything to get it closed once it opens. BML is a 2/3 year old DLC and DTGs excuse for not fixing bugs on BML is because of the memory. MEANWHILE community members have done much more than fix bugs they have added to an already packed timetable which again DTG said they couldnt do due to memory.

The class 700 I mean first of all the DC motor sounds are crappy reused sounds from TSC off a 444 / 450. Still havent a reason as to why AP gave them the AC sounds but not DC sounds. Also the lack of decent running sounds? Passengers turning black?

Class 801, numbering, door animations, volume of the motor sounds, pantograph selection, cables between coaches.. EVERY SINGLE ONE has been acknowledged by a member of the DTG team. One had an attempt at a fix however it failed.

The above are just SOME of the bugs in this game that DTG have CHOSEN to ignore. Every single one of us complaining has a right to. We purchased a product for give or take £30. We noticed bugs, we reported those bugs and either received no response or were fobbed off with a copy and paste reply. DTG are so happy to take our money but when it comes to making our moneys worth they couldnt give two flying bats.

Your comment on the bml timetable mod is a bit not right. The mod is only for pc. There isn't a way to know if it even works on console. So while it works excellently for pc, you still have consoles to consider which may not work due to memory

The 444/450 sounds aren't reused from tsc. It's a brand new recording from another desiro when the 700 was in development. Ap simply didn't give dc sounds and that's it. They don't need to provide a reason really

    Two things wrong with this:

    1) The fact DTG didn't even put the 70p on BML when a modder did it says something. DTG could have at least looked at the possibility of having it on console as well, so the excuse as to why not is wearing thin.

    2) The 700 was released as an addon for SEHS, a DC current route. Why on earth did they record AC sounds? It doesn't make sense.

The current 700s DC motor sounds are what the default 444 and 450 use in TSC. Why would DTG first of all like jack said, record AC sounds for a DC route and second of all why would they not record DC sounds at all?

Also DTG could have put the 700 on the timetable for PC users only just like how they didnt put 166 375 and 465 services on BML for console users.

Next gen consoles had layers, but don't know if they could handle a 700. If dtg only did pc only, then you create an even bigger divide

If layers are an issue, then why not remove those which are useless such as the 375 diversions.

Really just sounds like a poor excuse

I agree. The Class 375 and class 43 HST should be removed from that route in my view. I never really understood what value they added to the route compared to a Class 700 which does run on part of the route in reality

    • Removed incorrect entry on the ‘My Trains’ tab for “GWR HST Mk3 TFD”
    • Fixed various instances of unlocalised loco names in menus.
    • Fixed an issue where the awarded medal would incorrectly scroll with text when shown on scenario completion screens.
Does anybody else wonder why this was 500 MB. My install size is now 253 GB; any more updates or new Routes and I will need to buy a server farm

Because a lot of the core is compiled (including the engine) into a main executable (which is 400 MB), other UE games do that too. Smaller patches are only possible if a lot of the core is sitting in separated external files. Examples are Zusi and Omsi 2 - but they both have a completely self-made game engine.

Well, at various stages of the recent stream-a-thon thing I asked multiple questions regarding the overall quality of TSW, the broken promises from Dovetail Games and his feelings regarding the "enough is enough" thread....and guess what? Not one single response from Mr Peddleston regarding those queries.
Also, this thread contains 4000+ comments and has had over 180,000 views.....and guess what? On not one single occasion has anyone of note been bothered to address any of these concerns with a quick "we hear you" (or words to that effect).
So yeah, it's quite clear that what's broken is of no significance and taking our money is DTG's only priority.

On a positive note from the stream, it was made abundantly clear why steam was dropped. SoS did well and Peak Forest didn't so the project was dropped with the excuse being that certain people will only buy specific (regional) routes & locos, meaning that an already niche category would be further dissected into even smaller niches. A point that would generally hold water but for the fact that SoS (one of those "niche" regions) "did well". Forgive me for thinking this way but didn't it ever occur to anyone at Dovetail Games that Peak Forest didn't do so well because the whole steam thing wasn't done particularly well in SoS and people weren't prepared to have a second bit of the cherry?

I own SoS...I live 2 miles away from Millers Dale...I didn't buy Peak Forest. Think about it.

Also the update (or its effects) must have wiped Save progress from yesterday.

Not even they believe that excuse, I'm sure. If steam was done properly, a huge amount of people (me included) would be interested in routes that are not even close to our focus. I am (relatively) young, from Central Europe, and I still had an absolute blast last year at KWVR. Quality, Matt, quality sells.
