I'm running a time table task, Antelope Valley Line - Stacks: LATC Intermodal Terminal - Seattle Intermodal Terminal (Part 1), driving an SD70ACe and am getting frustrated running with cab signals on. Unless I am missing some clue, a CCS stoppage is activated with minimal warning; certainly not enough warning to slow enough from 50mph to not be forced to a full stop. If I want to complete the service without numerous shutdowns, I have to drive it at no more than 24mph. I'm sure this is a known issue, but I cannot find any threads about it, and so here we are. Aside from turning off cab signals or driving the route at no more than 24mph, how do I overcome this issue? That is an unfixed bug that goes back to the release of that loco: If you have cab signaling on, passing 25 mph will initiate an emergency braking, every time. Only cures are (a) turn it off, (b) turn it off just under 25, then turn it back on when you've passed the threshhold. Mind you, (b) probably isn't worth the trouble, since CS doesn't work correctly anyway.
This is why i have always played US routes without using safety system s , they bugged or dont work right ..also with that I just take it a bit easier slower running train s like going down steep grade s its better to take it slower i keep speed s to 18 to 25 mph on all the major grades ,,with freight there not a tight schedule getting the train safely down the grade is what counts ..plus depends on your braking skills best to take it slow and easy then try faster timing if your skills are top notch
This also could be why some find US freight fustrating , by trying to use safety or other stuff that bugged or not work etc ..best way to run is just the basics brakes , banking coms on ,and when setting up dynamic brakes make sure you shut throttle down wait for engine RPM to go all the way down first..and going down steepest parts i find notches 7 and 8 on dynamics best range even 6 ..and got to keep notching up and down on them def need to pay attention to the brakes and speeds ..
Found a good you tube channel called blu games he has how to videos for TSW and other sims but watched several good ones he has how to perform a hill start...how to work train brakes has videos on each US route how to work dynamic s and train brakes to get down grade safely ..I watched them really helped me out to control stuff better
